This mommy broke down and had a good cry last night. Sometimes you get so tired that's all you can do right? Pedi appointment in a few hours. Does anyone else get nervous? I always feel like they're going to judge me. :/

Saturday night LO slept from 9 pm to 5 am. Both DH and I checked on her at different times because we couldn't beleive it. I guess the Easter egg hunt wore her out.

It did not happen again last night. 1:30 wake up. Boo! I'm so ready for her to sleep all night. Work is not fun when you got up for an hour or so in the middle of the night.

Ds is eating almost double, sleeping 4-5 hrs then eating then fussing and not going back to sleep at night. Any ideas? Ps we think his first growth spurt was at 3 weeks -- maybe this is another at 5?

Heard LO do a massive poop in her sleep at 530. I feel like a bad mama for not waking her up to change her. I figured she'd be up around 630 but still sleeping!

I always find things get messy after the first good stretch. We've been bed sharing from the beginning so that has really helped. I often fall asleep while feeding so she can keep that nipple as long as she'd like. Also I don't change her diaper unless I smell poop. Oddly enough this kid stopped pooping at night at a few weeks old. GL!

Sorry you had a rough one last night! I've only had to deal with two kids at bedtime twice by myself. It's crazy how fast it can go from pleasant to disaster.

Dd had a really fussy week around week5. The wonder weeks has a developmental leap listed around that time, and it seemed to hold true for her. it lasted a few days for her, so maybe he is just going through a phase/growth spurt

Yes, i always feel like its a test I'm not really prepared for!

After an epic one boob feed yesterday my nipple is super sore today. I might just pump that side and have him eat on the other side. Does that seem like a bad idea?

We don't really have plans today. I'm going to try and get motivated to do yoga when he takes his morning nap and its supposed to be nice and warm out (52!) so we will probably go for a walk later.

My LO slept from around 9 to 5:30 last night, and wood probably be sleeping still if I hadn't disturbed him checking to see if he was breathing.

I keep thinking that I just don't remember getting up, because my boobs weren't too angry. I was exhausted after not going to bed before 1:30 the night before.

We've had two nights in a row of good sleep! Knock on wood, I hope this trend continues.

The whole weekend was great. The weather was terrible yesterday, so it was a House of Cards marathon.

G and I are going to go to the museum this afternoon so I can do some work and liberate some nearly empty booze bottles. DH and I figure if we drink down the things that are less than half full, we have a few less to move to the new place.

Yes I feel this way about every doctor appointment for me or for my LO.

I'm going to call my pedi when they open because I think my LO has reflux. He has been exhibiting symptoms such as waking up choking, spitting up a lot, coughing, arching his back. But Dr. Google says most of the time pedis don't do anything for reflux other than suggest keeping them upright during feedings and afterwards which I'm already doing.

My sister is law is due April 9th. Squee! She hasn't texted me back this morning so of course I'm thinking/hoping she's in labor! I can't wait for my LO to meet his cousin!

Does anyone have a baby that will wake up, get a diaper change, and then be too sleepy to effectively nurse? He nurses for like 5 minutes and then wants to go back to sleep. I've done the foot tickle, talked to him, bounced him, tried the in between diaper change but nada. Inevitably he's up more then because he doesn't really fill up and has a grunting hour at 5 am. I pumped the other night and with his laziness I'm making like 2 ounces per breast now. I'm thinking I'll have to do a bottle at night to try to get him eating more and sleeping more....

With DS, I hated going to the pedi. He had weight gain issues and I always felt like pedi was judging me. It made me feel awful.

Yes DS will do this feed for 5 min fall asleep and be awake 30 min later. He usually only does it once a night though.

toadandbuggie - There are medicines they can prescribe, good luck at the pedi! If you get prescribed Zantac, I wish I had known that you can ask your pharmacist for a flavor other than mint, which is what it usually comes in. Ds hated it. Fingers crossed they get you some answers!

My spam is DH and I live on a very busy two lane highway with a 60mph speed limit and I have always said if we lived here for any long amount of time we would hear a really bad accident. Well, tonight it happened at 2:40 am. I called the police while H got dressed to run out and be there if the person needed help. Drunk driver. Hit a street lamp and ran off the road. Fortunately first responders were so fast that my husband never even made it to the scene, but now we'll probably never know if the person is ok or not. I don't know why that is bothering me so much. Anyway, adrenaline and all, we didn't get back to sleep and it's been a very restless night.

2mrsks (mrs&mrsk) sounds like some kind of growth spurt to me. DS's 3 week spurt was something like that. Hope you keep the sleeping and lose the fussiness soon!

missys sometimes my LO is too warm. Turning on the ceiling fan often helps with cooling and a bit of stimulation.

Tl;dr - how to discuss coping with witching hour with DH without sounding preachy?

Hit send too soon. I think DS is developing a witching hour. DH has been great the past month with finding ways to soothe & interact with DS but of course his go to soothing doesn't do the trick for witching hour. I try not to tell DH how to parent but I'm struggling with how to explain witching hour & needing to try new things without sounding like a know it all. I've done so much reading on newborns & fussing & soothing and DH has done none - that's just my personality.

Last night I ended up taking DS, swaddling him, holding him facing away from my body, swaying, shushing, bouncing under a ceiling fan and some or all of it worked! (Previously we only swaddle for bed, and DS loves having his whole front pressed against whoever is holding him.) DH looked at me like I was a wizard or read the baby's mind, which makes him feel like I'm such a better parent. I'm not! I'm just trying things I read! This is DS's first real fussiness so the crying is disconcerting to both of us. The first night we all fell apart, but last night I realized what was going on and could be calmer about it. I want to share that calm.

Even just writing this has helped me figure out a few things to say to H but I'm open to hearing tips to not sounding like I have all the answers.

lilyelayne just tell him that you have been doing some reading to try and figure out some tips and tricks. You weren't sure it would work but it was suggested in your reading so it was worth trying. It's 100% honest and shows you don't have all the answers

Luckily H likes to read as well so I can usually say I was reading up on witching hour in this book or on this website and he will go read it himself.

I hope everyone who celebrated had a nice Easter. Ours was lots of fun but I feel like I need a day to recover. I'm exhausted. Egg hunt, church, brunch and parade with 3 kids is a lot of work. Plus, it rained overnight on Saturday so we couldn't hide the eggs before bed. DH & I were up at 5am yesterday morning hiding 100 plastic Easter eggs plus baskets outside, before the girls woke up. I did a bunch of those little foil wrapped chocolate eggs inside too so at least I was able to get that part done Saturday night. The girls had a blast. They are at great ages (5 & 3.5) for all of this. It is so much fun to experience holidays through them!

Gross but true: Soo glad to have the NoseFrida. LO has had issues breathing comfortably the past couple of mornings, even crying about it upon waking up. When he cries and sounds snuffly, I've used the NoseFrida and have suctioned out giant boogers. It makes me nervous to think about them blocking his tiny nostrils. I don't know if this kid has allergies or is just a boogery boy; luckily his 2 month check-up is this week.

Happy spam: Our place is really coming together! The couch is being delivered today and we hung up pictures/put together a big new bookcase over the weekend.
