I work in admissions for a college. I would love to keep my job, but am worried about the travel. My hope is that I'll be able to change some of my job responsibilities/territory to accommodate a family. My DH is in car sales and works some long hours and we have no family near us- this could get interesting.
We've told our immediate families and a few close friends. I just can't keep my mouth shut. I also told my boss and she was so excited. She told me not to worry about work stuff since she's gone through this with so many others in her career and is flexible.
This will be my first kid. I'm a physical therapist working in the ICU (neuro specialist). Haven't decided yet if I'm going to continue on full time, part time, or per diem. I love my career but I'm actually quite frustrated with my job right now, so we'll see how that goes...
I'm planning on telling work in second tri, but I might have to tell my supervisor before to schedule my appointments. I plan to tell my parents after our first appointment on Monday and my in laws at around 10 weeks.
Both? I have a DS that is 9 months, but I work full time. DH is the primary caregiver. He is a firefighter and only works once every 4th day, so he's home most of the time. He knows the daily routine much better than I do.
I am a family nurse practitioner and work in a private practice- day work. No nights or weekends, which is nice.
I will tell my office after my first appointment on 5/5. Last pregnancy I went off 1 month before delivery because I was so exhausted, and then stayed off 6 weeks after. This time I am thinking I'd like to be off for the whole 12 weeks postpartum, so my schedule will have to be blocked off soon.
We haven't told family yet. Prob wont until 10ish weeks. Mainly because my in laws are nosy and ask me 20 million questions. Im not ready to be asked "how are you feeling" every single night.
So funny... I can think of three couples I know off the top of my head where the husband is a firefighter and the wife is a nurse! What is it about firefighters and nurses falling in love with each other???
We know a bunch too! We actually met on Eharmony, but I think some meet in the ER or places like that. We definitely connected over the ability to bitch about stupid things people do/complain about.

Eta: second question answers
I used to be an ICU nurse and I LOVED our PT. She was so motivated. She got approval for our unit to have battery vents so she could get them up and walking. She was SO amazing! I really admire what you guys do.

I'm a NICU nurse and work PT hours for the most part. I also volunteer weekly about 10 hrs for my Bible Study and teach in the children's area.
I've told everyone. I had so much love and support with my MMC and the other bible study leaders of 30 women were a huge part of that. It's like a huge group of Aunts and Grandmas for this baby.
I'm a FTM. Even though I've taken care of hundreds of babies and been to hundreds of deliveries... I feel pretty clueless about this one belonging to me!

Thank you! Our ICU nurses are absolutely fantastic and we could not do what we do without them! I'm currently training all the nurses on helping to mobilize patients on vents so we can get these people at least sitting up and walking 3-4 times per day. It's daunting, but it's something I'm super passionate about and so far the whole team has been very positive. I appreciate your comment so much...It's nice to know that we're not just a pain in nurses butts

I'm a veterinary technician. I supervise the surgery department, so I do a lot of anesthesia and take a lot of radiographs, as well as scheduling, inventory, etc etc.
Pretty much everyone at work knows. I have to tell early because a lot of my job duties have to be modified during pregnancy. DH and I haven't told any of our families yet, and won't until closer to 12 weeks. The exception to that is DH's sister, who we told a couple of weeks ago, because she was staying with us when our first loss happened, so we felt like we should share our good news with her!

I'm a middle school science teacher. This will be my first child. I'm not sure when I will tell my boss. I currently hold some stipend positions that I won't be able to do next year. My plan is to take the rest of the year off since I teach a semester based course I will oy have a few weeks left with my first semester students when I'm due.
I am in client relations for a bank; however, I am leaving my job in 6 weeks for us to move to Houston. My husband received a promotion which requires the re-lo. I will be a SAHM when we move.
BTDT - I have a 3 year old son. I'm a kindergarten teacher so I will make it to the end of the year without telling (provided my morning (until after lunch) sickness and hot flashes don't give me away first. I will probably go in during summer school to tell my principal. The goal would be the same day it goes on FB. OR I will tell during one of our end of year meetings.

lovegrilledcheese I don't know why I feel like I'll be asking you for lots of help in the time to come... [says the one raising a kid in 3 languages...]
13liza my job involves some traveling and I've been able to pull it off so far, we also live far away from family but my H has been surpassing all expectations as a dad... I hope you can keep your job and it seems your boss is all for it that said, I now think traveling will be far more difficult when there will be 2 kiddos in the house :/ so same worries you have now
I am a BTDT mom. I am kind of a SAHM but at someone else's house... I am a nanny and get to take DD with me. Right now I am a certified lactation counselor and my dream job is to work in the hospitals some day with brand new moms and babies.
I plan on telling my employers after my first appt (may 8th). Both sets of parents know, my brothers, and some other relatives know.
I'm a nurse in a busy trauma ICU. I'm also going to school to be a nurse practitioner, but now I'm thinking I might need a little time off. Only my husband and I know right now, but I plan on telling my best friends ASAP. I'm not sure when I will everyone else, I'm going to see how everything goes. I definitely won't announce it to the world (aka make it Facebook official) until the 2nd trimester. But I will definitely tell my parents before then, and most likely a few select coworkers.
I work full time at the moment, but I'm hoping to cut back significantly now.

@equestrienne we didn't announce on Facebook last time and the world knew when my mom posted a picture of my 37w bump.. as I live overseas everyone was pretty traumatised! It was hilarious.
Of course close family and friends knew from 2nd tri but all the less important ones got the news just a few weeks before I had the baby hihi
While I am a stepmom, I would say I am definitely a first timer with all of this. I am the VP of Human Resources (actually the head of it) for a major (now global) restaurant company. So will definitely keep working after the birth. Luckily my mom is retired and she is going to watch the baby every day for us. Due to us trying through IVF, a few people know at work especially in my department. I will let one of the owners know in a few weeks so she has a head's up but won't make it official until the second trimester. Normally we would have kept it very quiet but IVF has been a bit of a roller coaster.
The moms know as does my sister and closest friends. I will tell the rest of my family in a few weeks. My mom is having a fit over keeping it quiet. Sigh, she is wonderfully supportive but a bit of a PITA.
I'm an accountant, hence my first post here occurring on April 16 and not a minute sooner I love my job and the company I work for.
I will probably wait until end of first tri to tell them... though I haven't totally made up my mind yet. With a December EDD, I'll end up missing most of next tax season and I do want to give them a decent heads up.
We have not told anyone yet. We are going to end up telling MH's cousin and his girlfriend in two weeks (the day after our first appointment) b/c we're going on vacation to New Orleans with them, and it'll be pretty obvious when I'm not drinking!
I am a first grade teacher. I have previously taught in second grade, this is my first year in first. I love parts of my job and hate others. School is full of so many politics it is sometimes hard to enjoy. I teach at a small school, in a small town and go to a big church. That said, word has gotten around that I'm pregnant. I'm ok with it; like many have said, if I need those people if something happens it will be nice to have them for support. I started to show really early with baby #1 so I don't think would've been able to hide it long anyway!

I work from home for a major bank in the foreclosure dept.
Only 1 of my coworkers knows because we talk everyday, but I don't physically see people, so it will be easy to keep it a secret longer. I will probably reach out to my manager soon to let him know because I will need more time off for appts. I will be going every 2 weeks due to being high risk.
I am BTDT working mom to an amazing little boy. I am in management at a not for profit research institute. I love my job and plan to continue working after baby #2. My husbAnd and close friend are the only people who know I'm pregnant. We will tell my mom in a few weeks bc we are going on vacation together. If I go a week without drinking wine she will know something is up! We don't plan to tell anyone else until week 12.

Yay for NPs!!! How far into your program are you?
Just started this semester! I took a few classes as a non-matriculated student and actually just found out this afternoon that I have been officially accepted into the FNP program : )
I'm a BTDT working mom. DS is only 10 months though so I don't feel so BTDT! I am a lawyer and plan to keep working full time after #2. As of now, only my husband and I know. I will probably wait until second trimester to announce at work, although people will probably suspect much sooner because we have a lot of work sponsored drinking events. Not sure when we'll tell our families. We were slow to tell with DS so we'll see...
I'm a BTDT mom to twin boys that will be 4 next month. I work FT as a Software Engineer. My work will know around 12 weeks when the results of my MaterniT21 tests are back and everything is looking good.
So far, my aunt knows (I lost my mom last year, so my aunt is like a mom to me now) and my daycare provider knows. I'm not telling anyone else in my family until I get test results back. I will probably break down and tell my BFF soon though.
Diagnosis: Endometriosis and PCOS 5/23/2011 - Twin boys born 2/15/2013 - Daughter, lost due to T21 6/24/2014 - Twin boys, lost at 13 weeks 12/21/2015 - Boy born
