We really wanted to wait until 6 months to start. L started trying to steal our food around 4.5 months. So we started solids at 5 months. She still spits out most of the food we give her, but she still is really interested in trying it.
LO has been trying to steal my food the past week or so. Also, every time I take a bite of something or a drink she looks between it and me and smacks her lips like she's chewing.
I plan on talking to our pedi about it at his 4 month appt. If he's sitting up and all is well, I think we'll start trying then. To be honest, though I'm a bit ashamed to admit it, I can't wait to intro some solids and slowly start being able to pump less. Sigh.
Of course, if LO isn't ready at 4 months, we'll wait.
Update : so today LO has been all about the solids! Usually I can barley get her to eat anything but today she was really into it and like grunting for more! she was actually opening her mouth wide for the spoon and grabbig for it! Such a difference I feel like it just happened overnight!

Hate to be the bearer of bad news but even after you introduce solids you shouldn't be reducing their milk intake for quite awhile. They'll start to eat more and more solids while maintaining the same milk intake, thus increasing overall calories consumed. DD didn't start reducing her milk until around 10-11 months
Pumping is so much work, I totally understand looking forward to doing less and eventually being done with it. If you ever need support on that end the breastfeeding board can be super helpful

I absolutely know you're right, I just think we'll likely switch over to mostly formula at that point. Thank you for the suggestion of the BF board - I will check it out!
