My dad's parents were always awful to my mom. Well, actually, they were awful to most people except their one favorite son. There are just so many examples of the shit they pulled. Here are some gems:
- My parents dated for 7 years before they got married, and literally days before the wedding my dad's mom was still introducing my mom as her "son's friend."
- My oldest cousin (their first grandchild) is named Christian. His parents were not so much religious at the time and decided not to have him baptised right away. My grandparents refused to call him by his name because of it. FOR THREE YEARS.
- When my dad was 14 he developed severe pneumonia. They said that they were too busy to take him to the doctor, so he should just walk there. So he walked the 4 miles to the hospital by himself and his older brother came later to pick him up.
- My siblings have severe peanut allergies. My grandmother blamed my mother for providing her with "defective grandchildren." She actually gave my 3 year old brother a Mr. Goodbar once. He was in the hospital for two days and nearly died. This was why the first word they learned to read was "peanut" so they could check ingredients.
Due to all this, despite the fact that I grew up literally 6 houses down the street from my dad's parents, we saw them only a few times a year.
I can't even understand the Mr Goodbar thing. Nothing like basically trying to kill your grandchild.
