Talk to me about your LOs vocabulary!

Just curious to see how everyone's LOs are doing with words. I saw a few posts in the random thread about words and thought it would be fun to share!

DD only says Mama and Dada, but I've seen her try to imitate a few more (unsuccessfully). I'm wondering what her first non-mama or dada word will be?


What were your LOs first words?

mama, dada, and "Hi" while waving (super cute!!). I don't know that he actually associates mama/dada with me and DH, or if those are just the only words he can put together.
he IS making lots of new sounds and pointing to things and trying to babble and talk though!! it's so super cute.

She says mama, dada, hi, bye bye and I've heard her try to say puppy a couple of times. Everything else (except general babbling) comes out sounding like dada lol

Mama, dada, buh for book. Making more G sounds. Said "Peppa" twice last week...nothing since (in reference to Peppa Pig).

She says mama and daddy but not at us. Tried to call dog baba which is kinda close to his name. She signs milk water and more

LO's first words were also mama, dada, and duck! She also says dog now. She's obsessed with animals lol
She signs milk and more. More is often in conjunction with pointing to get across "I want"

Mama, Dada, and Hi

ETA: ok I guess she says "baba" too, cause I just picked her up from DC and my DC provider told me she says that when she has a bottle, then I said "say bye-bye" when we were leaving and she said "baba". So, we don't know if it's "bottle" or "bye bye", but she said it!!

Mama, Dada, hiya, baba (bottle, but it means "I'm thirsty"), duh (dog), buh guh (bubble guppies), and of course "Uh oh!" while throwing something on the ground.

I am certain no one else would gather what Levi is saying other than dada, mama, but he says cook/cook for food, he also says hi. Oh he also says milk!  All other noises/babbeling is indecipherable at this time.

LO has yet to say anything that's recognizable. We are working on it... but I feel like his Big BRo takes the words right out of his mouth so he just observes.....

mama, dada (sometimes even daddy), baba (for her sister - it was just sort of babbling, but DD1 decided that since she was saying mama and dada for us, that baba must be for her. she says "It's me! Baba!" It's so cute), "cat" and "dog" (not cat or dog, but I can't type the sound she says for those, but it's consistent). A lot of grunting and pointing.

DD1 didn't have her first words (or even really make a lot of sounds) until 15.5 months, so this is quite different. A much more vocal baby this go around.

LO says dada for everything! I'm not sure if she associates it with MH yet. She has said mama but only when prompted and if she really wants to, which isn't often. In fact, we'll ask her to say mama and she look at us and say dada. She also will say baba if prompted, but not consistently. We mainly have babbling and pointing.

Dd says dada, mama and dog. Mama only happens when she's following me and is wanting me to pick her up though.

My LO does the UH OH first and then drops it. LOL its pretty funny though. Also he does sign for "More"

Mama, dada, hi, and a baby version of kitty. Hi is our favorite word though, every single person that goes by her at the store she says it to. Today at the zoo we were on the tram and she kept waving and saying hi to the people behind us. It was really cute.

Hi was her first word. She goes "hi-eeee" it's the cutest. She's since added mama, daddy, uh-oh, doggy, sock, and outside.

She babbles mama and dada all the time. She definitely says dada and daddy with meaning. Pretty sure she knows I'm mama, but it's not always as obvious as daddy.

She has said doggie and if asked where the dog is, she will look at her. (The dog has only been here for a couple of weeks, since it's my mom's).

We are working on "all good." She can repeat it after a couple of tries.

The only clear words used at the right time are mama, dada, and bye bye. She mimics the sound of other words but I wouldn't say she's 'saying' them yet.

So far we have mama, dada, doggie, what's that, what's this, hey, uh-oh.

She hasn't said any new words in a few weeks though. She sorta had a mini vocab explosion.

I love it when LO speaks! She says dada for DH mama, mum for me, lulu for our dog Lilu. She says "haiiii! " to everyone she sees. She babbles a lot- right now it's l sounds which makes her sound as if she's yodelling lol. Is the cutest thing ever.

I'll admit LO is not as "advanced" (I.e. Right on schedule) as DD1 was at her age. She says "ba ba," for bottle, "dada," ball, and Tara. (Her babysitter) no mama yet and that makes me soooooo sad. meh, it will come in time I suppose...

She says mama and dada, she's definitely saying mama in the right context more but still babbles dada a lot out of context.

When she has something she shouldn't, like a piece of dirt, I say yuck and she said yah. That's the closest.

Question...what are you all using as their "official first word" (like for the baby book if you're doing one). She's babbled mama and dada for months now, no clue which one was first and when it became directed toward us.

LO knows "uh-oh" for sure.
As of this week, he says mama with purpose. He says dada but i'm not sure he's just babbling.
He seems to know "all done" or some semblance of it!
He points to a lot of things and I can tell him to turn the light on and off and put things in a basket if I point to it!

Still think a lot of it is just babble!

We have a lot of babble. Sometimes Dada seems to be directed at her dad, sometimes not. She does walk around saying 'bidu' a lot. It means I want. But she says it a lot...like even when she's giving me something. So I'm not sure she completely gets it.

We are very split in the vocabulary department. Keira recently had a word explosion and says hi, daddy, uh-oh, all done, bye, Owen, and some babbled versions of mama, doggie, and a few more. She loves to look at books and point to the pictures, telling you all about them.

Owen is pretty delayed here too. It's likely he'll be heading to the speech therapist next. He can make a "rah" sound and just recently started making a "dah" sound. He's starting to pick up on the couple of signs I've taught them (more and all done) so I want to try a few more. He's my little observer. He's done really well with PT for his gross motor skills so I think if I just learn the right ways to help him he'll catch up.

OOOH, LO also says HI but only to cats and dogs!
He does not clap or wave hello or goodbye!

LO babbles a TON, but not a whole lot seems decipherable or meaningful yet. She says mama and dada, but most of the time it's hard to tell if it's purposeful. (She tends to say "maaaa!" with more purpose when she's really upset ) She will say hi/hey in response to me or DH saying it her most times. She does wave bye-bye (and sporadically will say bu-bu) if we initiate, but only to us. She likes to clap when she is proud of herself about something. Like she'll take a few steps, then stop and look at us and clap as if to say "Look what I did mom!" Then if I commend her she gets a huge smile We're working on "more" and "all done." So far she just makes this particular intonation of an "aah!" sound when she wants more, and will either rip her bib off or starting throwing food on the floor when she's done She will also sometimes make sounds that try to imitate us if we say things. Like if she falls down and we say "LO went boom," she'll go "boom boom boom."

His first word was dog.

He says dad, mama, nana (for banana), car, uh oh, dog, no, eese (for cheese) and we are working on cracker.

He also waves bye bye, claps, high fives, will hit your hand if you say pound it haha.

Didn't I see a video if him saying dos(sp?) after you say uno? I thought that was impressive.
