DD had her steriod injections yesterday and all is well. She had to be fasting all day, which was rough, I managed to plan her naps well and distract her during the day, and she did great, but by the time we got to the hospital she was getting pretty grumpy and it took both DH and I to try to keep her from melting down. She likes her doctor but wasn't having any of the other staff, so they let me stay with her while they sedated her to try to keep her calm. The injections were quick and they had to come and get me right away because she woke up in recovery PISSED. Three nurses were (unsuccessfully) attempting to keep her contained. She launched herself into my arms, and then proceeded to scream bloody murder while she kicked and punched anyone who came near, including me. Any drinks or snacks they tried to give her she ripped out of their hands and threw across the room. She's always had a temper, but the anesthesia gave her temper superpowers. After about 30 minutes of that, they finally got us into a dark, quiet room and she was able to calm down. We got her home and she ate an entire day's worth of food for dinner and was then back to her normal, happy self. She seems to have forgiven us for our betrayal now, but momma is pretty sore with a few bruises this morning :/
I'm so glad that is over for you, sounds like it was a very long day! It's amazing how quickly LO's forgive and forget . I hope the injections help her and that you don't have to go through that again! Hugs!
Does the title/date of this thread look funny to anyone else
ETA : Now the thread looks normal to me. The year said 1969, haha wierd glitch must be.
*hugs* so glad that is over! I have to admit I giggled at the thought of her hulk moments. DD totally has those and I can't even imagine if she had gone through what your LO did! You and she are troopers and I pray and hope that you don't have to go through that again!

Glad she did pretty well! You just have super power. There's no way LO would fast that long. Heck the first thing she says in the morning besides "hi mama" is "eat"!

Hugs! I'm glad the injections were helpful.
If it makes you feel any better, I've been through similar times with DS, including multiple surgeries. It is really hard to watch your kid go through something like that. You did the right thing, and she won't remember it when she's older. I'm here if you need to talk more.

So glad to hear it was an overall success! It's so hard to see your kiddo in such a panicked state, but as redfraggle said, you did the best thing for her!
carli DD definitely has her "hulk" moments, but this was like nothing I've ever seen. Even the nurses, who deal with kids coming out of anesthesia every day, were wide-eyed. It was turning into a movie scene and I was just waiting for her to start grabbing nurses and doctors and tossing them across the room
jnetx I ate while she napped. I felt guilty eating anything when she couldn't, but knew I would need it later. I'm glad I did because I definitely needed the energy to deal with her outburst later.
redfraggle Thanks for the kind words. I can't even imagine having to send her into multiple surgeries. I have all kinds of respect for parents who have to go through that. This was very low risk in comparison to surgery, and I was a total wreck inside. I'm glad she won't remember, but it also sucks that she can't understand. She is so happy and just trusts me to take care of her. She was all excited to go "bye bye" and squealing and laughing when I got her out of the car at the hospital. I told her we were going to see her doctor and kept things very upbeat, but it was so heartbreaking to see her all happy and clueless when I knew what was coming.
I'm late to this, but wanted to say that I'm glad the procedure was a success, despite the "baby hulk" moments. I know I get really cranky when I don't eat, so I can't really blame her, especially combined with coming out of anesthesia I hope this is the only procedure she'll need to feel better.
