I haven't really spent much time on this board, maybe because I'm in denial, but someone suggested you ladies might have more info about CVS testing.
So a little backstory:
Got our BFP in March after our first IUI cycle- Yay!
6week u/s revealed 3 gestational sacs- HOLY CRAP!
9 week u/s showed we are tri/tri, meaning all three babies have their own placentas and their own sacs- Best case scenario for triplets OR for reduction
11week apt this past Friday showed all 3 on track, and they no longer look like little blobs (exciting and heartbreaking all at once)
We have been advised to consider selective reduction to twins, and we want as much information as possible to make a decision. We already have an NT scan scheduled for May 12th. An amnio can't be done in time to use it to make any decisions. Our only other option is CVS testing (all non-invasive, low risk testing won't give us the information we need for triplets, please don't suggest it, I would if I could). We cannot wait until after the NT scan to do CVS, we have to do it this Wednesday. We've evaluated the risks, and have decided this is the least bad choice we can make at this time. Oh, we did genetic screening before our IUI, so CVS would only be testing for chromosomal abnormalities.
Of course DH will be out of town for the test, and this week is TERRIBLE for me to take off work, but there's no options at this point, so here we go. Anyone here have CVS done? Was it physically painful? Will I want someone there to hold my hand? Will I need someone to drive me home? Do I need to take the next day off work? I'm freaking out because I don't even have the appointment yet but it will be Wednesday- not a lot of time to decide or plan.
