Waiting to Do Something- May 4th edition

Well, since I'm still technically waiting....

Numbers: CD 36, month 9, cycle 3. Or if you want to believe FF, I'm 23 DPO. Cus that makes sense and all.

Circumstances (PP/BF, Meds, TTA): PCOS, anovulatory cycles.

Rants/Raves/NFNSQ: Welp, currently on Progesterone for my third time to try to induce a period. Metformin is a bitch and I hate her...or I just hate the combination of these two meds. SA is set for Wednesday, and hopefully I'll get my period sometime next week so I can schedule my HSG.

GTKY: If you could choose to do anything for a day, what would it be? I'd spend the day at the beach. Some alcohol, some reading, some sleeping...sounds perfect.

teachermomtobe Sorry about the long cycle. I wouldn't stress out too terribly much about it just yet, but even so sending your doc a message wasn't a bad idea. Long cycles after BC are very normal, doesn't make them fun though.

Haiiiiii wanderingheart! Hopefully your period comes quickly so you can get the HSG done! Sorry about the metformin troubles :/

Thanks penguin129! nuggetrn, I know and I honestly think she'll tell me to give it some more time. I just don't want to look back on this moment months from now and be like "If only I had sent her a message....". I'm not overly concerned, just annoyed. My few friends who know what is going on keeping telling me I'm pregnant. Nope, didn't O and several negative pregnancy tests but thanks for insisting! Glad you ladies have taught me so much

How is your grandma?

She is doing fantastic considering the circumstances. Thanks for asking.

An MRI on Sunday morning confirmed that she had a stroke; there were actually two small blockages in different parts of her brain that fully explained her symptoms. The stroke is likely an effect of the irregular heart beat... a. fib notoriously causes clots. So, they are starting her on some blood thinners to hopefully prevent any future strokes. Her mobility wasn't affected but her memory is off and she lost the peripheral vision in her left eye. She's in good spirits.

In related news... We are under contract on the house we have been looking at!! Now we just have to sell ours.

It is crazy that all of this is happening right now. I've been thinking that we are kind of nuts and we are rushing things along and then she has this stroke, and it seems that we are working towards having her move in with us at the perfect time. She can't drive anymore, if she is going to be having memory troubles it is good she will be with us. We'll be there to assess any future changes should she have another stroke... I am thankful that we are able to make this work and I am thankful we have the house under contract. This whole weekend has just been hard though, although I think we will all work through it alright.

nuggetrn, glad your grandma is doing better! I hope you sell your house quickly and things can continue moving forward for everyone! My grandmother had a stroke 2 months ago and it was very scary, but she is back home now and even better than she was BEFORE the stroke.

teachermomtobe, Sorry your body isn't cooperating with your plans. I understand your thought process behind contacting your doctor, but hopefully it's just BC finding its way out of your body completely and not another underlying problem.

wanderingheart, the combo of those two meds sounds sucky. Hopefully it's a short term thing and you won't have to do it again!
Sorry if you said it and I missed it, but what is the purpose of the metformin for PCOS? I've read various things, but curious for you. Is it an every day until you're pregnant thing?

Thanks! I posted in the randoms thread on Saturday and then kind of disappeared for a while as I was dealing with things, so no worries!

DH and I stopped to see my grandma Saturday morning, coincidentally as we were on our way to put an offer in on the house... She was not herself, couldn't remember her cats names or if she had taken her pills that morning. It was weird because she knew who we were and everything but after about half an hour she just looked at me and was like, now what is your name? Needless to say we went straight to the ER after that.

We have a contract contingent on the sale of our home, so hopefully it sells quick and we can get this show on the road!!

Ah, I have a hard time keeping up on weekends.

That was good you took her right to the hospital. I would imagine they have drilled signs of stoke into your head since you're a nurse. My mom had a mini-stroke (TIA) a couple years ago and us taking her to the hospital quickly pretty much saved her life.

FX someone buys your house quickly!!

rivers and roads - Metformin is a diabetic medication. My insulin levels came back normal, but people with PCOS have an increased risk of being diabetic. It's basically used to help prevent diabetes and keep your testosterone levels down. My RE said that Metformin can help some PCOS women get an extra cycle or two and can help with ovulating, but probably won't help me in that department, since I'm barely cycling as it is.

nuggetrn I'm sorry to hear about your grandma. I'm glad to hear she's doing well though!

Yay! I like having a thread to participate in

Numbers: 2 weeks and 4 days post D&C. Follow-up U/S, blood work and genetic results next Tuesday.

Circumstances (PP/BF, Meds, TTA): TTA until we get more info from the doc. I have been researching a lot (maybe too much) and it seems like the common course of action for molar/partial molar pregnancies is to track HcG until it goes to 0. Only after it has been 0 for several months is it advised to TTC again. Some docs recommend a year, some recommend 6 months, some only 3 months from a 0 reading (assuming it stays at 0). If it increases or doesn't drop it could mean malignant molar tissue is coming back and that chemo may be required to get rid of it (silver lining: it is mild and highly effective chemo). I was hoping that maybe I was some speshul snowflake and maybe my HcG would drop dramatically so I peed on a stick. It was a nice dark positive still - guess I'm not THAT special. I know my appt is only a week away but I want to know ALL THE THINGS RIGHT NAOW. I want to know my HCG and I want to know if it is going down and how fast it is going down. Jeez, sorry for the novel.

Rants/Raves/NFNSQ: Still spotting and my post D&C papers say I should have bled only 3-5 days. It's so light that I can wear the same pad all day. Anyone with D&C experience? How long did you spot/bleed afterwards? Lactation seems to have stopped (small victories).

GTKY: If you could choose to do anything for a day, what would it be?  Lay around on a warm beach.  How boring.

nuggetrn Sorry to hear about your grandma. It is a good thing you were there to realize what was going on. DH's grandma had a stroke a little over a year ago and his Aunt was able to tell something was wrong from talking to her on the phone.

Thanks rivers and roads! I hope my wait time isn't too long, but I would at least like to have an IDEA. I told H that I'm mentally preparing myself for a year wait. I would like to know from the doctor if an accidental pregnancy too soon after a partial mole could result in molar tissue jeopardizing what would normally be a healthy pregnancy. I am so worried about that. I hate having to be careful again. It was very freeing to just not worry about contraception when TTC! I hope your new OB is like your old one. I know I've heard the general recommendation is to wait 12 months but given your cycles are longer and used to be more irregular maybe they could run some preliminary tests? Hope your appointment goes well on Wednesday! Let us know how it goes!

nuggetrn I was going to ask about your gma! I'm sorry about her stroke but glad that the effects have been manageable. It is scary though when they can't recall familiar names - glad you got her in to the ER when you did! Have I mentioned how much I love that you love the elderly and want to support your grandma? You're the coolest. My H works with the elderly and it would be nice if more people could provide for/live with their elderly family. I know it's not always possible and that relationships don't always allow for it - but I'm glad you and your H can do that!

Sorry this is late, dropping off Dh and then went to get some new workout gear to get my bottom motivated! Disliking that I'm 20lbs heavier than a year ago. Not being pregnant means I get to go on that 10-day Disney Hawaiian cruise so that's motivating to lose as much weight as possible before that! (Unless I GKU next time DH is home)

Andrea, I don't think it is ever easy when your SO is away! Whether it be 5 days, or 28!
LadyNymeria, I do this every other month and have been with this schedule since we graduated from college.
rivers and roads, I agree with you! When DH is at work, I'm better at eating on plan (WeightWatchers), working out every day or at least EOD but when he gets home, I don't want to get out of bed until he does. I don't want to sit on the NT Freestrider when he's on the couch, I want to sit on the couch with him. I want to eat pizza when he eats pizza! He's what my WW leader would call a "skinny civilian" because he doesn't know what its like to have to lose weight. He's 6'1", 165lbs, He's sad right now he's 32x34... he's used to being a 31x34 (which is harder to find so I'm ok with him being a 32 waist). But I have to learn how to do all this stuff when he's home!

I LOVE old people, seriously. So much. And more than just loving them, I have a real passion to care for them and I am good at it. Especially the dementia/Alzheimers side of things. I was an aide at a nursing home all through school and then worked there as a nurse for a while... I would love to get back to that kind of an environment but I am kind of set where I am right now just as a commitment, it works for our schedule sort of thing... Ideally we'll get pregnant and I will take a few months off of work and then when I am ready I will look for a job doing what I really want to do.

Rants/Raves/NFNSQ: I am disappointed I didnt ovulate this month. I'm following doctors orders and starting provera in an attempt to regulate my cycle. I'm starting to notice some of my PCOS symptoms are diminishing. I've lost a few pounds fairly easily the past two weeks, and my acne has been MUCH better this month. I hope this is a sign of good things to come.

GTKY: If you could choose to do anything for a day, what would it be? spend it with my husband laughing; I wont see him until Friday night and I miss his terribly.

gooselover2012, I think its a combination of the metformin and the new moisturizer I have been using before I put on my make up in the morning. I bought the Equate brand Proactive at walmart and use the moisturizer every morning instead of my usual thick lubriderm. I'm embarrassed to say I'm VERY lazy when it comes to a face washing routine. I never had a huge acne problem when I was younger so I never got into the habit of one.

rivers and roads, my husband doesn't travel but he works rotating 12hr shift. He is on nights Monday through Thursday so we are on opposite schedules. He leaves before I get home and I leave for work before he comes home in the morning.

We had to do that for about 5 months a few years ago and it was really hard! You still get weekends together?
I found that the one benefit of it was that it made us more intentional with our weekends. We wanted to actively be together doing things, not just co-existing happily while watching TV or playing on the internet.

He is scheduled two weekends off a month.  We don't always get them because he has to work a lot of overtime.  You're right, its a huge tease.  It makes me want to be late some mornings just so I can have a kiss. We have one week a month that is like this (4-5 night shifts in a row).  We definitely appreciate our time together a lot more since his overtime requirements have been so demanding.  His smile and sense of humor got me hook, line and sinker and I miss it when he isn't home.
