Its 3:00am and lo is sleeping but I'm up with a stomachache hoping it goes away before work today :-(
Lo fell asleep at 6:30 and really didn't wake up until 12:30...I did change his diaper and dream feed him at 9:30 but I'm in shock. I'm a little nervous for what time he is going to be wide awake this morning. But I loved the snuggles I let myself cuddle him for all of his naps as my mothers day treat and it was amazing! I'm not ready to go back to work today.
I'm going to try to lay back down hoping I can sleep a little more

H totally dropped the ball yesterday. No card, no nothing. I'm not mad, just hurt, and we talked about it and he knows he goofed.
I feel like a walking zombie this morning. After nightmares all last night I really don't feel rested. Can I just go back to sleep for like three days?

wildflower810 Boys are stupid. I'm continuing to be mad about yesterday on top of letting him have it last night. If I'm hurt he's going to know about it. And +1 on the sleeping. Being upset takes a toll.
LO has her first full blown cold. Tips? She can't sleep, she's sounds like a snoring Basset hound. We're nose frida-ing regularly but she keeps ending up in bed with me so I can rebinky her when she stirs. So, I think I slept last night? Or maybe I just binkied for 7 hours with my eyes closed?

Put saline drops in the nose and be careful not to nose Frida too often (it can dry out the sinuses and make things worse). Keep the baby in an inclined position - it is hard to drain when they are flat on their back.
Uh oh today isn't a good Monday so far. I think I got up 7 times last night to reposition liam because he kept getting somebody part stuck in the slats. DH got sick overnight, too. He was pretty hurting so between the two I got no sleep.
My Mother's Day was disappointing too. Not totally H's fault, we had a mini emergency at my condo I rent out, so that spoiled our morning/early afternoon plans. But then, all I got was attitude the rest of the day. We talked last night, he says he is making it up to me today.
Kids with colds...we have had 2 since day care started. It started us on the co sleeping train for a few weeks, it was the only way he would go down. Lots of screaming in the middle of the night, it was not fun at all. We gave Tylenol on some nights to let him feel better for bedtime, but I tried not to dose him up every night. We had 2 teeth come in at the same time as the cold, so that really sucked . We are back into a normal groove the past few nights, I know it is a matter of time till we hit another rough patch so I am taking advantage!
pixie523 The other thing I'd add to the good recs already given, is a steam treatment. I took baby in the bathroom, closed the door, and ran the shower. First I just left her in the RnP while I took a shower, but then one day I just brought her into the shower with me. Her nose would run like a faucet and later on in the cold she'd cough it all out.

We put bumpers on the crib for this reason. I know bumpers are a big no-no so I did some research. Over a 20 year period, the were 27 infant deaths where bumpers were a contributing cause (contributing because oftentimes there were also pillows and/or blankets in the cribs). DH and I decided that using mesh bumpers and having nothing else in the crib with LO posed an incredibly low risk compared to him getting constantly tangled it the slats. However, there are many people who believe that the risk of bumpers is fairly significant since getting tangled in crib slats is only an annoyance and won't really cause serious injury. It's a decision everyone needs to make for themselves.
Thanks for all the suggestions! Especially not nose frida-ing too much. H wanted to get at her every time he heard a boogie. Not sure on how to get her elevated to sleep. She really will only sleep on her tummy. She's particular. Probably doesn't help her first little tooth is poking out. Looks like tonight will be a steam fest before bed. I'm going to try to put her back in her bed at least for a stretch. We're ALSO trying to transition her to her own room. Ha HA. HA. HA.

Agree....bumpers = personal preference. We chose to use them because he's a mover. And the Velcro/tie combo makes the stay on tightly. My LO is also a daredevil though and says "eff these bumpers Ma! I do what I want!"
littleapplemom haha , that pic is so funny! I'm so sure he still magages to get a foot out!
I'm so tired, I really don't know what's going on with lo at night. She has been waking up every 1.5 hrs crying and will only calm down and nurse about half the time, the other half I'm having to walk her around the house. Really hoping this is just a growth spurt or teething or something..I'm about to loose my shit!
Saw my family yesterday and my bil was being a huge ass. We got into it because he was telling me that formula fed babies sleep thru the night and I need to start lo on it for that reason. I said ya I know plenty of mom's who ff and their babies don't sleep thru the night, if it were only that easy!! Ugh he just pisses me off and it really hurts my feelings that my sister doesn't stick up for me. I feel like I can't complain to anyone in my family about being tired without them giving me some bs advice ...so I'm just not going to say anything to anyone but u girls
Annnyy way, hope you all have nice Mondays! Wishing good days at work, and good sleep for everyone tonight.

I might feel like death warmed over but I am getting stuff DONE this morning. So far I have - Stuffed diapers - Made H a dentist appt - Rescheduled chiro appointments for all three of us - Made an appointment to drop my car off for service - Made an appointment for waxing (me time!) - Called the office about the ants - Called the auto body shop - Put away laundry - Put the baby down for a nap
It's not even 11 o'clock here. I might go get a haircut later, even. Me: 1 Monday: 0

Drive by posting: a belated happy mother's day to all you wonderful ladies! Isaac caught my cold and was up all night crying for me. I was in tears all morning :-(. Mother's Day was rough. DR worked and I ended up being a taxi for all of my sisters who don't drive but have kids. Then a family BBQ. DH says he will combine mother's day celebration with my birthday. I feel bad but I didn't have a great day. We have been arguing a lot lately.
pixie523 +1 for saline drops. My LO is perpetually boogery and I use them every day. I put a drop on the blue nose sucker and then use that to get the drop inside her nose. I found it too difficult to just use the bottle, nothing made it into her nose that way.
So after weeks of terrible sleep, I think we're through it! Last night DD slept 5 hours, woke for 1 hour, then down again for 3 more hours. This is awesome and I hope it continues. So there is hope for all of you with crappy sleepers right now!
The crib bumper stat is reassuring. So far though we haven't really had problems with her sticking limbs out. So we're still bumper-free for now.
Sorry for those of you with crappy mother's days. I barely saw DH yesterday because he was working, but he played with LO a lot on saturday so i could have a little time to myself. He has had to work so much lately it's ridiculous. I told him I didn't want flowers and would rather have him home for a few extra minutes than in a line at the store.
Last night our washing machine started shaking violently... I stopped it and everything was perfectly balanced inside. So either I just overfilled it or there is something wrong. Going to try a smaller load later and see if it does the same thing. Has anyone had that happen before? Google tells me the machine could be off balance on the floor, but that doesn't seem to be the case.
songbirdsinging55 I have cloth diapered off and on. Just at home though. And I'm kind of at a crossroads right now deciding whether or not to keep doing it. I have 24 charlie banana diapers and they just recently started fitting her properly. I still don't love them though.
But. Here's where I'm at: I CD at home during the day. My cloth diapers do not hold overnight, or even half the night. DNW to change sheets and clothes at 4am. I have a small stainless steel trash can that I use as a diaper pail for the disposables. Her poop is starting to smell now that she's eating solids, so I either need to
1. Continue CD during the day but purchase an actual diaper pail as well. 2. Ditch the cloth diapers and purchase a diaper pail. 3. Find a decent overnight cloth diaper and switch to all cloth at home. This way I don't need to buy a diaper pail.
I really don't know what I'll decide. On one hand I'm sick of dealing with the cloth, but on the other hand, they are cheaper. So idk.
littleapplemom that pic is awesome. I feel like liam would find every way possible to stick something through the slats even with bumpers.
kfaye ugh everyone has something to say about babies sleeping. If you bf they tell you to ff if you ff they tell you add cereal. Babies will sleep when they're ready. Also liam used to wake up all the time but wasn't actually hungry.
Even with unicorn nights the last few nights, he still woke a bunch last night.
wildflower810 go you!! I plan on spring cleaning Wednesday afternoon but getting a head stRt with eleventeen loads of laundry including the curtains.
Dang wildflower810! Kickin' Monday's ayass! kfaye You described my baby from last night, so you tell us how tired you are any time you are! The babysitter just sent a pic of a tooth bud in my baby's mouth, saying this is probably why she slept like crap. Don't lose your shit too quickly, because this phase will be over before we know it! Tell BIL to shut it. nerdalert I recently called a washing machine repairman because the washer was shaking violently and then spilled water, which dripped down into the basement and made a mess there. Turns out it was just off balance. I would have saved some money if I'd have run a second smaller load!
nerdalert I might be telling you stuff you already know, but with the cloth diapers and smelly poo, they have little liners you can use as inserts (grovia brand?). They remind me of dryer sheets. They collect the poo so you can flush/throw them away and it doesn't have to sit in the pail. If there are no solids in the diaper, you can rinse and reuse the liner. And for the trash can, make sure there's a little bit of air flow. We use a trash can with a swing top lid. You don't want stale moist trapped air...also arm and hammer stickies for the inside of the lid are great!

songbirdsinging55, yup! Cloth since 6 days old. We use Charlie Bananas and love them. I stuff with Thirsties hemp/cotton prefolds now because the microfiber doesn't hold much. M was out-peeing those at maybe 3 months or so. Overnight we do two prefolds, each folded in thirds. So that winds up being 12 layers of inserts and it does pretty well!
nerdalert, just now starting to fit?! how are you adjusting the elastics on those diapers? M was fitting in his CB at 1 week old.
wildflower810 I'm glad I found someone else that uses charlie bananas! They don't seem to be as popular.
Well the diapers would fit elastic-wise from the beginning, but I hated them because with one insert (either size), the insert would just move around and not catch the pee. But with both inserts the diaper was too big and I couldn't snap onesies over them. When she was really little both inserts spread her legs apart too much. If I went up a size in onesies, the sleeves were huge on her and fell off her shoulders which annoyed me. Around 4 months they started fitting and being more proportional with fitting under her clothes. I've sized and resized the leg holes a thousand times, and it is tedious. But now I've got them sized to the middle L setting, and they are working fine. Except for overnight... maybe I should try some different inserts.
ETA: I think these diapers just don't fit my kid very well. If I could do it over I would just buy one of a few different brands to see what I liked.

nerdalert, huh, I never had that issue with the insert. That's weird. Did you buy them new or used? I agree that changing the elastics is tedious. We just moved to the middle M setting. Munchkin is long and skinny and so while we do move up sizes faster because of his fluff butt, it hasn't been too much of an issue. Carter's fit him well which is good news, bad new$ at times!
I have a few FuzziBunz as well. I bought them as seconds when they were $5 each. I don't really like them, but I use them when I know M will be up for a while and I can change him in 45 minutes or so. They're a nice filler diaper, but no way would I want a whole stash of them!
zengal I'm actually not having problems with the poop in the cloth diapers. I use a hanging bag and wash them pretty often so that part isn't a problem. Just when I have a poopy disposable diaper in the trash it starts to smell. It's not too bad though, I think an arm and hammer sticky would probably do the trick!
wildflower810 LOL at "bad new$!" So funny. I bought the CBs brand new. DD has a wide tummy and fat thighs, haha. So I think the problems I had were just due to how my baby is shaped.
I think I am going to try the prefolds that you use for overnight. I would love to just CD all the time.
