Circumstances (PP/BF, Meds, TTA): TTA until Nov/Dec ish. We are using condoms in the meantime.

Rants/Raves/NFNSQ: DH called me this morning all frustrated about this and that claiming I took his knife he uses for work... He texted me about 5 minutes ago saying he found his knife and he was sorry. Oh brother lol

GTKY: What is your favorite summer activity? Beaching and grilling! AND my mom just told me this morning that her and my dad bought a pontoon for their lake Happy girl! I can't wait to take DD out.

wanderingheart, what day did your HSG end up being scheduled?

Update!
Did the vaginal ultrasound and everything looked good. There was a small "mass" on the uterine lining, but my doc said it was likely just a clot and would be cleared at my first menstrual cycle. He apologized that he didn't catch the abnormality sooner. He said that while my diagnosis isn't all too rare in itself, the fact that it went as long as it did undetected is quite unusual. He pulled up our 10 week ultrasound pics, shook his head and said "yeah, that just looks like a normal early pregnancy..." I know it bugs him that he didn't catch it.

He told us that he has full confidence that we can and will have a successful pregnancy, and that whenever we were ready to TTC we could try.

It was then that I asked him about my hCG levels and whether we should track them. I said that out of curiosity I took a pregnancy test this weekend and turned it positive. He said "Huh, well that is a very good question and valid concern. Let's do a blood draw and see where you are. I'll call you and we might want to have you come in for some follow-up blood tests". I told him I would actually like that.

So it seemed like he would have just let me walk out if I hadn't brought up the hCG as a concern. I'm patting myself on the back for being informed and voicing my concern! He's a great doctor, and I'm glad he isn't dismissive. On the other hand, I'm surprised he didn't suggest the blood draw himself. He did say PMPs are less known to have high hCG, so maybe he thought it would clear up quickly.

Overall I feel good about the check-up. It will be interesting to see what my beta numbers are and where we will go from there. Thanks for the well wishes everyone I'll probably post this on the Molar/PMP board over on the loss boards too.

Oh also random PCOS question ... I brought up my concerns for PCOS at my annual exam with the NP in my OB's office. She only checked testosterone levels and said if that is normal then I don't have PCOS. But reading through others experiences here it seems like they checked more hormone levels than just testosterone so now I am questioning if I should have asked for more testing? Basically I am feeling like I didn't advocate enough for myself over either of my concerns (PCOS and hypothyroid) and am feeling frustrating ...

Update: My sister did call me today. She is hurt and sad which is to be expected. (No need to out our mom) She admitted that she didn't want to tell me unless I told her I was pregnant and was hoping to be pregnant together. She's looking to change her doctor of 15 years because she didn't feel like her doctor took her concerns seriously.

gooselover2012 Thank you! The more I am reading about stuff the more I feel like there could be more testing done. She also told me an ultrasound was useless and all women have cysts which also seemed off. But like you said I feel weird questioning doctors or NPs because they are the experts right?! Obviously I don't want to borrow trouble but I do just feel like something is off with me.

We are moving in less than two months so I am going to look for new providers and get seen again this summer. At this point I am just keeping track of symptoms and really paying attention to diet/exercise to see if going all in with that helps over the next several weeks!

ETA: And the reason I don't feel comfortable asking for more tests is because in the past I've more or less been told nothing is wrong with me and I don't need anything tested. Which makes me feel crazy. So that makes me a little more hesitant to push/advocate for myself. I am starting to research new doctors now so I can find ones I like better!

I don't think this is accurate. My understanding is bloodwork is done to check a variety of hormones. My PCOS was diagnosed based on long, irregular cycles and cystic ovaries. You can be diagnosed with PCOS and not have cystic ovaries, but other factors. Basically, there is no single way to diagnose it. It's determined based on multiple factors, so I think your NP should be a little more thorough.

TheEleventhHour You can have your new doc look into your Thyroid too. Some people can be "ok" according to the range used for testing or be on the borderline of having a Thyroid problem and have doctors overlook it. I would ask to see your blood work and results and ask them what their range is for "normal" I asked for my original blood work and saw I was just barely above "normal" but they still treated me. Some places may have told me it wasn't too high and might not have treated me.

I saw my results. I am right in the middle of the range so definitely not borderline but I have been reading that patients with Hashi's can have normal TSH/T4 but abnormal antibody results as it is an autoimmune thing. They won't check my antibodies though. My mom has Hashi's and she had symptoms for years (and likely abnormal antibodies) before her TSH levels were out of whack. At this point I just don't love my doctor so I am in the market for a new one!

Yeah, she also told me an US was worthless for PCOS diagnosis because all women have cysts. Needless to say I am in the market for a new doctor. 

But I really appreciate everyone's advice! I am definitely going to educate myself more and be really thorough in finding a new provider so I can get to the bottom of this if my symptoms keep up.

Yikes, I am so glad you are moving. I know we have talked about this before, but this brings back all of the feels about my doctor of 11+ years. 

My diagnosis was based on my LH to FSH ratio being 2:1, my androgen levels being high, my history of irregular periods. 

I also had my prolactin checked because of history of elevated levels, and my thyroid to make sure that these things were not impacting my hot mess of a body. I am crossing my fingers that you find a doctor that supports you and doesn't dismiss your concerns so easily.

I'm glad things went well and are looking good! Also: High Five for advocating for yourself and knowing the right questions. Hopefully your betas get in line and you can just work on the emotional part of healing.

I'm late to the party here, but +1 to what everyone else is saying. There's a multitude of things that can diagnose PCOS (many of which I'm still learning about, too!). I hope focusing on you and your health might clear some things up on its own in the next few months, but if not, definitely advocate for yourself. As Andrea said-- FSH/LH/AMH would big factors in my doctor's deciding.

It is annoying and intimidating to be the one asking and pushing for tests when they have the degrees. I don't know the rationale behind it, but it is frustrating! I'm kicking myself for not pushing further when I went back in December and was told "everything is fine!" because now I feel like we wasted 6 months. 

Do you know people in the place where you're moving (I think you said VT)? Maybe ask around for recommendations!
