I have full intentions of making lactation cookies this weekend because I want cookies and I know DH won't eat them. I don't need them for lactation purposes.
ETA the last sentence is important to the confession. Duh.
I mentioned making lactation cookies to DH once and his response was "Would I like them?". I want to make them but I need to find the time to get to WF for brewer's yeast. I couldn't find it at the normal grocery. Does anyone know where else to find it? Last time I checked Amazon the containers were really big.
I can't remember if you're in MA, but it blows my mind that you can't buy beer at the grocery store there. (my grandma lives in MA, so I've been frequenting liquor stores in MA my whole life)
Edit for clarification. My family drinks a lot when we are together. Well... That clarification didn't make us sound better either.
No grocery store beer or liquor here in MD, liquor stores have a distinct purpose. That makes me sad bc trader joes has their own line of beer and wine and we don't get any booooo!!

This is a great idea! I'm going to start calling some foods my "lactation ______" and then DH won't eat them. He doesn't know there aren't lactation chips/candy/leftover lasagna
OMG new idea for this weekend: get some chocolate chip cookie dough, sprinkle some oats on top before baking, tell DH they're oatmeal lactation cookies.

My parents live in a dry county. It's a 30 minute drive to a liquor store, or a 45 minute drive to restaurants that serve alcohol. Fortunately there are liquor stores on the drive from the airport we always fly into to where they live.
Fffc: I'll probably get flamed for this. I am being incredibly judgey. Which is really out of character for me. But I am on a group on Facebook that people post something they may be needing and people will give it to them free of charge. It's usually what I do with my kids old clothes and stuff. Anyway, there is a girl on there who is always posting things like: "My son needs new school shoes, anyone willing to buy?" "In search of food for the week until we get our food stamps" "My little boy really wants a baseball, can someone drop one off?" And the one I'm being really judgey about: "My little boy turns five today, won't get paid for another three days, hard to explain to a five year old. Would anyone be willing to buy him some presents and a cake, will take decorations too" Am I wrong in thinking that you know your kids birthday is coming for an entire year? She couldn't of budgeted money from last paycheck? Or atleast tell him his party will be in three days, so strangers don't have to find the whole entire birthday. Flame away.
I guess my deal is I try not to judge people if I don't know their situation. She apparently struggles by her former posts, but I don't understand why she wouldn't plan ahead. People stepped up, and I'm only glad because of the child, he can't help the situation.

chicorojo No flames here. Also we live quite comfortably and I still buy party decorations at the dollar store because they just get thrown away. For less than $10 she could have plenty of decorations.
chicorojo is it the same girl posting all of those things? If so, I'd be judging her too. I'd even be understanding if she was always asking for necessities, but asking strangers to buy your child toys when you didn't plan ahead is just...no.
I can't stand when other people tell me not to judge someone when they are doing something totally judge worthy. Like when my coworker told me I shouldn't judge another (married) coworker for making out with her boyfriend in the parking lot on her lunch break or when security was called because said boyfriend started making a scene at our workplace. Um, yeah I'm judging that.
jesster88 do you mind sharing your Ferber experience?
Sure, bedtimes weren't terrible before and I was going in to reinsert paci every 3-5 minutes. I can tell a difference since I have been spacing out the check ins per Ferber. Usually he is asleep by the 2nd check in and tonight I was going to start with 10 minutes and he was out in about 5. Last night we were a bit late getting him to bed and he cried about 25 minutes (first check in at 7 minutes then 10 minute intervals). DS sleeps 11-12 hour with one wake up. Daycare even commented that he was doing better at settling himself. We have come a long way from waking up every 1-2 hours 2 weeks ago. We learned that the wake ups were from the dream feed messing with his sleep cycles.

jesster88 what intervals did you do? I've been looking it up, but can't find anything specific. Just keep reading that you increase it. And I'm not sure this method is even something that will work. LO goes down within a couple of minutes. It's the wake ups he doesn't fall back asleep after he is fed. And that, he still eats twice every night. Clarification -I'm not trying to not feed him because he seems actually hungry. Its just after I try to put him back in bed he wakes frequently for about an hour.

This is the chart. I made my own and did 5,7,10 night 1, 7,10,10 night 2, I was going to do 10 on night 3, but he was asleep. I try to do one thing at a time, so I will probably give it a few more nights before I do the intervals at night. I think he may still need a night feeding, so I won't push it too much.
I have this obsessive need to be caught up on all of the threads in the first (visible) page, even if they don't pertain to me (i.e. The formula check thread...I neither use nor receive checks for formula). I can't stand having "new" posts that I haven't read. Crazy much?
When this board is dead on the weekends, I usually go over to parenting and read some of their stuff. Most of the time I have no clue what's going on, but I'm bored and they are entertaining.
I'm at a continuing Ed conference today and I have literally been playing on my phone the whole time. So far, I could not tell you what the hell the topic of this conference is.
Been there done that. CE conferences seem so interesting on paper but are so ungodly boring in real life..

I do the same! Once I got called out for lurking, though. I think it was the MOTN and I was in no state to be interacting with people (so sleepy)

Oops. I did too, I think. It was like a mass call out on a drinking thread. I was like wtf? I only accidentally clicked on that! Oh well. I'm not trying to be a creep, I'm just bored
Pedi told us to wait on strawberries because of allergies when we start solids. Our families have no history of allergies so I take it with a grain of salt. I remember someone in D14 letting LO nurse a strawberry so I let LO lick/suck a piece yesterday and she tried to bite it! Got excited and scared at the same time!
I'm the strawberry nurser. My mom panicked when I said she tried a strawberry. We also have no history of allergies.

jesster88, woo! Excited to hear about your success with Ferber! We're going that route for naps now. He JUST put himself to sleep after a few mins of whining. We tried a few weeks ago during the night, but he never calmed himself. After the 2nd night of no improvement I decided to wait until he was a little older. He seems much better at it so far this go around. Fingers crossed!
