I'm really scared about the newborn phase but really looking forward to when he gets a little older and we can play more. I'm also really excited for all the firsts like Halloween and Christmas.

What is the one thing you are most concerned about/afraid of after LO arrives?
-A negative change in DH and I's relationship. Those first few weeks are hard and it's going to take a little bit to get in a routine as a family of 4.

Seeing DH hold his son for the first time. I think I will probably fall in love with the guy all over again!

What is the one thing you are most concerned about/afraid of after LO arrives?
BFing -- a lot of aspects about it terrify me even though I know it is great for the baby and for myself. I'm just going into it all with an open mind and we'll figure out what works best!
DH and I's relationship and how the dynamic will change. We are used to going where we want, when we want and it's been about us for the years we've been together. It'll definitely be an adjustment adding this little guy to our family.

+ I'm so excited to see what he looks like! All I've seen so far is pretty much just the cutest little skeleton on u/s. I want to hear the tone of his cry. I'm excited to baby wear and sniff his head and talk to him and show him the world. I want to introduce him to the moon and the lake and birds and grass and flowers and ah! HE DOESN'T KNOW ANYTHING!!! I want to experience things through his eyes. I want to be the mother to him I never had. I'm excited to see if he ends up close with my nephew. Said nephew just fell asleep on what I assume is baby's butt. Totally teared up over that one.

- I'm dreading him getting sick. I'm dreading resenting him for being a newborn in those wee hours of the early weeks. I'm already mourning how fast time is going so I'm afraid I'll blink and he'll be a big boy.

I'm excited for babywearing and taking her on walks with H and me. We take evening walks most days and I'm just excited to have her come with us.

Also, holidays, vacations, all of her 'Firsts'.

100% agree, this was exactly what I was going to put.

Thing I look most forward to? Wearing the new baby around in the k'tan.

DH, DD, and I usually hang out in our bed watching tv, reading books, playing, etc. every night before bed. This is when I get best DD snuggles. I have commented to DH a few times how I am looking forward to 2 kids hanging out with us in our bed at night.

One thing that makes me nervous is when DH goes back to work after baby is born. I am going to expect him to pick up the load of taking care of DD in the mornings and I'm not sure he can handle it without waking me up significantly (lights on, loud noises), requiring me to get out of bed to help, etc.

I also agree with alayne926 about fear about changes to DH's and my relationship. The first year of DD's life was really hard on us and took nearly the entire year to get back to a good place.

Finally, how did I miss that you were an EP'er in the past too @jemomma? EPing and caring for a newborn at the same time was hard (EPing was so much easier after I went back to work), I can only imagine what it would be like watching 1 or 2 other kids at the same time. I am hoping BFing will work out better this time, but if it is hard again, I can see myself going down the EP path again because at least its familiar.

What is the one thing you are most concerned about/afraid of after LO arrives?

Sleepless nights. I've always been one that needs 7-8 hours of sleep and I think I've been very lucky to get this 99% of the time during this pregnancy. I know that's going to go away once LO is here!

Most looking forward to seeing the relationship between DS and the new sibling. Taking them camping or to the lake especially, just family time. I love it all. Cuddling or babywearing while DS is the hilarious little DS that he is. Yep, just the addition to our family. In the future I get excited about their school life/friends/extra curricular. I live in a very small town and already know who's all going to be in their grades and age groups so it's fun getting closer to all those parents now that we all have kids the same age.

Most scared about, just the unknown of things changing. Starting the newborn phase over again when it feels like DS is just out of it. We've got a good routine down and it seems scary to shake it up. But also exciting, because I guess I see how fast it goes now.

What is one thing you are most looking forward to doing with your new LO? Swimming, DH and I are both swimmers, we both were lifeguards and I swam competitively for a few years. The weekends are usually spent in the pool so im looking forward to next summer when she can enjoy it as well!!

What is the one thing you are most concerned about/afraid of after LO arrives?  If I need a C-section, not the surgery it self but the recovery. DH only gets a week off of work, and we have a very active large dog.   I don't want my MIL over 24/7 to help me because I dont want to feel the need to entertain which I do when she is over. (Love her to death but even after I had major surgery a year and a half ago, and was on bed rest I still had to entertain her to a degree)  I would like to have DH home if for nothing more then to help me with the dog!

Excited for: meeting her and seeing what she really looks like (color hair, if she has hair, etc) and learning her personality. And seeing get how her and big brother interact (especially once she's a little older and can walk and play).

Nervous: really the transition from 1 to 2. Plus moving several weeks after she's born (technically twice-1st to stay with my mom for several weeks and then wherever DH and I move to)

I taught dance for 7 years and DH and I are moving back closer to where I'm from. He gave me the OK to enroll DS in dance (he currently does tumbling/music/art) after we move back. So January time frame I will be taking him to tap classes most likely. I'm looking forward to it

I'm really excited to take LO to a baseball game, hopefully end of this summer or beginning of the fall. I'm also excited to finally find out whether we have a boy or girl and what he or she really looks like. All of these already listed are so good too - holidays will be really fun since this is the first baby for both of our families and Disney World later on will be amazing too! DH is going to be such a great daddy and I can't wait to see him hold this baby!

You all might hate me for this, but I'm still sleeping through the night, so I'm not excited to start waking up multiple times in the middle of the night. Baby snuggles will be totally worth it though!

I am excited to see the interactions with the older kids and this LO. The other kids are so close in age that they didn't really understand the whole baby thing, but at their ages now they totally get it and it will be fun to see them with a little sibling.
I will be working up until the day I give birth and I am concerned about my job and going back to work. I know legally I have a right to have my position or a "similar" position when I come back, but there has been some shady stuff going on at work lately so it concerns me about my job. I don't like having that stress and those thoughts in my head and I feel like I will push to go back to work way sooner than I want because of it.

I'm excited that I get to be a mama, period. Repro endo was pretty convinced pregnancy just wasn't in the cards for me and DH, so I'm excited to even have the chance to mother someone/something other than my feather baby (though I love the crap out of him, too). I'm looking forward to all the firsts and to re-experiencing that sense of awe with the world that only a little mind can. That first magical rain storm, those first snowflakes, the first critter...

I'm scared as to how my relationship with DH will change and about how I may change inherently based on my new role as a mother. DH said one of the big things they discussed in his daddy boot camp class was making your relationship with your partner a priorty. This is something I know we'll definitely have to work at, but I look forward to the challenge of re-committing ourselves to each other and to our little family.

Most excited: seeing the boys interact and grow up together. I also really loved watching DS1's problem solving strategies and his general process of acquiring knowledge, so I'm excited to see that again.

Excited: To watch her grow up at Conneaut Lake. I'm so excited even for her first visits there which we plan on taking her as soon as I'm feeling well enough to sit in a car for two hours. I have a picture of me at my lake house from when I was 4 days old and I am going to take a similar picture of her!

Scared: I'm mostly scared Im gonna break her! How do I know everything I am doing is safe enough for her! What if something awful happens and I can't fix it fast enough!

Excited: About just having her here. After dealing with a second Trimester loss and 2IF for over 2 years, I just can't believe its finally happening. I've also always imagined myself with my big boy and my baby girl & now I'm finally getting it. It's kind of surreal after everything. I can't wait to see how her brother interacts with her as well. I know he's going to be a great big brother.

Scared: About how things will change for DS. I hope he adjusts well and I hope I'm able to find a balance with everything.

That's the lake I was supposed to go this weekend for a baby shower -looks beautiful!

I'm most looking forward to baby finally being here, not being pregnant anymore, falling in love with a little person all over again, and having my boys grow up together.

I'm most nervous about the adjustment from one kid to two and the difficulties I'm expecting to face as DS transitions from only child to big brother.

Excited: giving DS1 a brother. I can't wait to see them playing together (not that I wish away the baby time though!).

Scared: being on my own with them both when DH goes back to work after paternity leave. Me on little sleep = no patience and I'm afraid I'll be a bad mom on more than one occasion. :/ I feel like I need to write myself a massive note to read every day that says "DS1 is going through a major change, too, BE PATIENT." Also, I already know I'll feel like I'm neglecting DS2 because I won't be able to give him the attention DS1 received as an infant; heck I already feel guilty because I don't have as much time to focus on this pregnancy!

What is the one thing you are most concerned about/afraid of after LO arrives? I'm going to echo what pretty much all the other FTMs have said and say that I'm really nervous about the way mine and DH's relationship will change. We've been together for almost a decade, and we definitely are in a good place. I know it will all be completely different when LO gets here- and I am just hoping that we can deal with the added stress and responsibility well. I'm also really nervous for the infant stage. BFing, getting up a million times a night, not knowing what the baby needs all the time... I'm sure it will come naturally, but everyone is afraid of the unknown, right?
