I've now been on Hospital Arrest for 5 weeks 2 days... (not that any one is counting ) And things have been going pretty well for the most part. The masses were staying pretty steady there for awhile, and we lasted a lot longer than I expected without any pokes to drain the mass. I've had monitoring (similar to NST) for an hour 3x a day, and I've had ultrasounds 3x a week (M/W/F) to check the mass, my fluid level, and growth scans. Friday baby was estimating at 6lb 4oz, which is great. It puts baby comfortably (even with margin for error) above the size my doc wanted for delivery so we have more options for breathing assistance after birth.
Friday and Saturday I had yet another round of Beta shots (which makes 7 rounds now this pregnancy) since it has shown to help the solid mass shrink or stay the same. Yesterday's ultrasound went fairly well, and was pretty quick since Nugget was pretty cooperative. We got all of our points for the biometric profile, and my AFI was looking good and was replenished to nearly 14 (from 11 on Friday, and 9.5 on Wednesday last week)! Unfortunately Nuggets heart looked a bit more squished to me... I waited to hear from the doc, and while she did call much later in the evening (it was a busy day in the clinic), I unfortunately missed her call. So she swung by my room this morning to show me the numbers...
The numbers show that both masses grew over the weekend. So it seems the beta didn't really do what we hoped, although it may have kept the solid mass from growing quickly, who knows. The cyst also grew quite a bit again, so overall the CVR (size ratio to baby) went up to 4, which is not very good.
The good news is that I'm only 2 days away from our goal of 36 weeks, and we've made it this far and we're so close! My MFM is going to get in touch with the other docs (pediatric surgeon, neonatologist, etc.) this week and update everyone so they can all talk about delivery next and what the plan is now that we've made it this far. She really feels that draining the mass immediately before delivery will be best for Nugget now that it's grown again. Then once delivered the docs can focus on babies breathing and stability, and not worry about also draining the mass at the same time.
Sounds like I'll have an outside baby within the next week/week and a half!
