Dude. DH finally told his dad about the baby last night. He was dreading it because his dad is one of those people that thinks both parents should work (SAHM here) and you should have a child's first car, private school tuition and college fund completely saved up before even thinking about conceiving. DH is in the midst of looking for a job with less hours (insurance agent working 70 ish hours a week) and his Dad knows this.
Long story short, DH knew his dad was going to give him grief. After a painfully long silence, his dad says "was this planned?" To which DH replies, "Umm. No."
WHAT? YES IT WAS! We'd discussed the timing for years and had been trying for several months. Zero surprise. Other than "yay! A BFP!"
I get that DH was nervous and didn't want his dad to disapprove. But to me, saying that genuinely does make him look more irresponsible versus saying "Nope, we were ready and waiting for another one." My FIL is totally the type to bring up again so I told DH that I would definitely be setting the record straight as best I could. I was really trying not to be critical of him when he was so nervous. But damn it, I'm mad!
I'm 34 and wondering how long I can get away with leggings, leopard print and red lipstick before I move into "Peg Bundy" territory.
That's my random thought for the day.
Gemma IS a badass...
