I love this thread!
We started with a DIY moby (basically jersey fabric cut to size) & I learned quickly I don't have the patience for wrapping, we used it a few times & then I gave it away.
I bought a second hand Boba 3G & I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE it. (does that convey how much I love it?). We started using it without the infant insert when he was barely big enough (I just folded a receiving blanket under his butt) and he's since grown into it really well. It's comfortable for me to wear for long periods of time, and I like being able to see his face as he looks at things (like going to the zoo). I also really love the hood, when he's getting sleepy & needs a little shade / dark I just snap the hood up & we're all set. Mine is missing the footstraps, so I'll probably buy them when he is bigger.
We also bought a second hand Beco Gemeni & I haven't really given it a fair shot, I bought it because DH wanted to wear him facing out & just hasn't much. I prefer the ease of use of the Boba.
Lastly I have a ring sling. It's taken me a long time to get good at putting it on (people say it's easy but I could never get it right) and some time on the Sakura fanpage to get tips, but I like it better than the Boba for multi tasking at home because I can put LO in a hip carry & have my hands free (for doing laundry) vs. having him in front of me. Rumor has it the Beco does hip carry too...but I've never tried it. I think the ring sling (or the beco I guess) will live in my car once we're out of the infant carrier so I can use one of them to run in & out of stores, or daycare, etc.
I also think I'll probably get a Toddler Tula when he's bigger if he still likes being carried but I plan to make my Boba go as long as possible.
I'm a huge fan of second hand carriers for saving money too, check out the budget swap page on FB if you're interested in deals!

lalamomma - I have the Boba 3G & I love it. Seriously, it's super easy to use & adjust. Back carries are easy, and it doesn't pull on the shoulders. Big fan. It's saved our backs & arms on a lot of outings. We went to CA a couple weeks ago & I wore him for both days at the aquarium & zoo, the stroller just pushed our stuff. I felt so bad for the parents carrying kids around without a carrier....
bennieangel I had to watch some youtube videos to get really good at getting my ring sling on quickly. I had to learn to really make sure that my spread was right before putting baby in but now it's like second nature. I can get her in in less than a minute!

Thanks! I need to start using it every day in the mornings, LO likes to be carried around while we get ready for work & he's getting heavy! I'll have to watch some more videos.

I love my Moby but agree that it's a lot of fabric. I want to get a mesh one for the summer I have seen some that can go in the water which would be so nice. If I can find an ergo that is used I will give it a try. They look so easy to nurse in.
My BFF is a huge Tula fan. I think she has one of their carriers and one of their ring slings. And her 12 month old LO absolutely loves the carrier. Tula has a rental program where you can try one for two weeks for $30. And if you decide to buy one you get $15 off your purchase. I think I'm going to try the Baby K'tan to start...they just look SO easy. And then I'll probably rent a Tula before I buy one because they're pretty pricey. But the prints are so darn cute!

I am registering for the baby K'tan breeze. I live in central Texas and am concerned about the wraps being too hot for a summer baby. The mesh material seems like it would make it more breathable for baby. I am concerned about the size but I guess I can exchange it later if it isn't quite right.
Has anybody use the Lillebaby carrier? I was thinking we wanted the Ergo but after watching some YouTube videos and reading reviews, the Lillebaby seems like a great carrier...
We got the Lillebaby carrier. I'll be a FTM so haven't gotten to use it yet, but I have heard very positive things about it. It doesn't seem as popular as some of the other carriers though.

sunset30 we ended up buying one and I am so glad we did. I joined a babywearing group and brought it with me. As far a SSCs go I really like it better then the ergo! I have a terrible back so I have to be careful and the lumbar support really is amazing... We also decided to buy a ring sling which is great to throw on at church or at home really quick but definitely not for a long day of baby wearing like the Lillebaby is good for!

After wearing DS a few more times since my previous post, I am getting the hang of it! There are some occasions where a stroller may be more convenient or appropriate, but I'm all for the Ergo carrier as a first option!

When DD was really tiny, she loved the Moby. We used it up until she was about 10 pounds. I have a Hava ring sling that we have used since she was about 3 months old (1 month adjusted). We still use it fairly often. She also likes the Ergo, but in Texas summers it gets unbearably hot for the both of us.
Any suggestions for a cooler light-weight more structured carrier, similar to the ergo? DD is close to 24 pounds right now.
3 years TTC, 15 cycles w/ RE(med & med/IUI), one angel 2/2012, and a cycle break rainbow 8/2013 born at 32w2d.
Severe Pre-E, HFpEF, PE, AMA & IF= OAD not by choice
Our little rainbow is finally walking at 20 months! w/ hypotonia, developmental dyspraxia, and SPD

The Lillebaby is a SSC but they have one called the airflow which is all mesh - super soft though! It's more comfortable then the ergo IMO

Thank you! It looks like the buybuy baby down the street carries them. I will have to go look this week. I knew there had to be something out there.

No problem! There is also an all seasons which has a zippered flap for mesh, but my daughter is so hot natured we decided to just bundle her up in the winter time if we use the airflow one. Hope you like it!

threetexans for an 18m old I would get a toddler carrier. Tula, kinderpack, and Action Baby carriers make toddler size carriers. Don't know if they have lightweight fabrics. I have the Action baby toddler carrier and I like it. I use t primarily with the 9m old but can carry my 30lbs 2yo in it just fine.
