Thought I would get some action going on this board!
Due with #2 in September and I can't stop thinking of girl names. My current front runner is Maeve Caroline. Our last name is a 3 syllable very Irish name. My concerns are:
1. Is Maeve TOO Irish coupled with our last name? Would it sound weird if she eventually chooses to take her (potential future) husband's name?
2. I can picture a baby Maeve and an adult Maeve, but having trouble picturing an older child/teenager.
3. Does it pair well with Isaac (DS)? Or at least doesn't seem weird given Isaac is biblical/Hebrew.
Other girl names I like are: Lydia (makes me think of chlamydia though...) Susanna(h), nn Annie (is it too close to my niece Annabel?) Naomi (slight trailer park vibe from the character on Mama's Family)
I would love some outside perspective and suggestions!
Thanks for the feedback and suggestions! I love the name more and more. It doesn't hurt that my 2 year old sounds absolutely adorable saying "Baby Maeve".

It's lovely. I think if a teenager didn't love it, they could always shorten to the NN Mae. It's not too Irish, and it will work with a non Irish name. I have a Gaelic name and my current last name (by marriage) is Polish. It's fine.
I love Maeve Caroline and don't find Maeve to be too Irish, even paired with your surname. Isaac and Maeve sound perfect together. Maeve is my favorite of your choices, But I do like Lydia, love Susanna (less than perfect with your niece) and tolerate Naomi.
Stormtroopooper Your avatar makes me laugh. It's so very... phallic.
Hahaha. I saw this on Ellen. They were talking about the phallic-shaped dessert. With the whipped cream and everything*. It's just...who came up with that?!

I love Maeve! One of my favorite girl names. Maeve Caroline is lovely. Not too Irish, I can picture a Maeve of any age, and I think it makes a fine sibset.

Maeve is fine. I'm not Irish but I have a very Irish sounding first-last name combo (I joke that it sounds like an barmaid in an Irish tavern) and it hasn't really held me back.
1. Is Maeve TOO Irish coupled with our last name? Would it sound weird if she eventually chooses to take her (potential future) husband's name? Can you be TOO Irish? I have a 4 syllable, very Irish, last name. I would use Maeve in a heartbeat (kind of regret not using it at times). I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE Maeve.
2. I can picture a baby Maeve and an adult Maeve, but having trouble picturing an older child/teenager. I think Maeve works well for any age.
3. Does it pair well with Isaac (DS)? Or at least doesn't seem weird given Isaac is biblical/Hebrew. I think Isaac and Maeve sound very nice together. They may have different backgrounds, but I still think that they complement each other nicely. They are both short and sweet.
Other girl names I like are: Lydia —I have never really been a fan of Lydia. No reason, just NMs Susanna(h), nn Annie — I think it is fine with an Annabel in the family, but Maeve is better! Naomi — I like Naomi, but don't love it.
