I do not have a "media" package in my van. I can kind of understand on cross country road trips but the families I see driving around town with the TV going boggles my mind.
For the record my minivan is by far my favorite vehicle I've owned. Mindy the mom-mobile is awesome. My dad drives Stan the man Van, mindy's younger brother.
I just wrote a huge response and it wouldn't let me post so I started over.
For Father's day, I want to do a Daddy and Me photo album with captions or a scrapbook page framed. I still haven't figured out the details. Even though DH didn't do another on Mother's Day lol. Although he really knocked the anniversary and birthday out of the park.
No mini van but my car feels like one. I have a Buick Rendezvous. It is huge but great on mileage.
For potty training, I don't think it is horrible but I don't think it is for me right now. I just feel like we are changing so much of his routine with solids and that's good enough for now.
As for solids, we have a variety of purees we are trying. Learning as we go really. Bananas are his favorite. He calls them Nanas. Lol
Has anyone started with a sippy cup yet? The pediatrician said to practice.
Dude, your kid's vocabulary! How do you do it? Did he babble really young? He's a genius I swear, lol. I am going to be buying a sippy cup this week and start doing a couple ounces of water in it. On the super hot days we had I just used the 4 ounce bottles we had and gave him an ounce or 2 or water to cool off.

No mini van here yet. If we decide to have another baby we'll probably get one. My Camry would not cut it with another kid. Car seat question - myles' head falls forward in his seat when he's asleep. According to the seat level thing, it's adjusted correctly. Anyone else have this problem? He looks so uncomfortable! We are having great success with the sippy cup. We have a playtex one. The only problem is that it has only one handle. Wth? I bought a tommy tippy one, but he doesn't like it as much.

jjh1119- Dh has the Edge (edited to say Edge, not Escape) as his work vehicle. I'm not so much concerned about seating (our Explorer has a 3rd row) its about the ease of getting in and out of it. I don't drive much, so gas mileage isn't a huge factor. Just something that is easy for everyone (LO and dog) to get in and out of. Plus we have our nephew with us a lot and he's in a carseat too. Just looking for something easy. Also, I'm not going to lie, the idea of seats folding down into the floor appeals to me greatly.
As for food and messes ... I have decided bathing LO prior to eating is completely pointless. Last night's sweet potatoes ended up in his hair, up his nose, in his ears, etc. I spoon feed him, but he likes to reach into his mouth on EVERY bite. Such a goofball. I'm slowly starting to let him nibble on what we have. Most recently he is REALLY interested in beer bottles (lovely).
jjh1119 that was an incredible pic! I burst out laughing! ninergirl52 We went to lunch for Mother's Day, I had a beer and was holding baby. She swatted at my pint and spilled all over the both of us. So she either wanted it or she's a teetotaler... You guise, I just bought a dishwasher. I have been hating ours for a while now, and I was unloading last night's dishes and the lack of clean just was too much. I haven't been to the store and I didn't discuss with DH. But it's being installed on Wednesday. Apparently this is what happens on impromptu days off!

ninergirl52, Memeorial day weekend....DH had a Dogfish Head. Lo grabbed it, he smelled like beer all day. Babies are supposed to smell like babies, not breweries!!! I may have snapped a pic or two with an empty Coronita bottle from a few weeks ago. ::guilty::
spiraltheory, I try to do something like that, like the darker the food the darker the bib!
spiraltheory That is too funny! I might start doing that!
Re mini vans: I feel like I am too young to own a minivan haha! I do not want one, although I see the appeal. I love SUVs especially because we live in an area that gets a lot of snow (for now anyway), so I'd like to stick with those for as long as possible. I'd like to get a Honda Pilot when we have more kids instead of a minivan.
So, this day is going WAY better than expected! LO was able to go to sleep in the crib this morning for a few hours, and woke up totally happy! She does not seem sick at all anymore. She's back to her normal happy self. So I didn't call the doctor or anything. I think what happened was that we've had an extremely busy past 3 days, and she hasn't been able to nap or eat normally. So I think she just needs a day at home to catch up from all the craziness. She's napped a total of 3 hours so far today and has been eating like usual again.
As far as phones go, I should be able to just get a new one because I never got one when we signed a new 2-year contract. I just kept the current one because it worked fine, even though I could have gotten a new one for free. So I think I can get a new one free now? We'll go into the store later today and talk to someone about it. I hope they have something there that I like and can take home today! We just have basic phones and I know they don't really stock those in the store because they want you to buy a smartphone, but I don't want to be without a phone for long! I may end up having to order one online though. We'll see!
nerdalert what good news that lo seems to feel better! I bet that's a relief. MsNicole06 Thanks for the validation on the dishwasher! I texted DH and he said it was cool. Whew!

I totally feel you ladies who are anti mini-van, I'd say you can stand your ground if you're still in your 20's. But I'm pushing 40, I'm a lost cause now. DH is still struggling with the idea of trading in an SUV for one, but the more he see's them, the more he's convinced they are so convenient. Plus the Honda Odyssey comes with a vacuum cleaner attached, yo! How is that not cool??
zengal - you crack me up!! Love that you just went and purchased a dish washer. What kind did you get? Also, I just found out that I should be emptying the filter in my dishwasher ... someone want to tell me where that is?!? Doh!!!
Beers & Babies ... I think its inevitable. Though funny kid story, my niece used to beg my brother for his beer and finally one day when she was 5 he let her have a taste, thinking she'd hate it and stop bugging him. Turns out she loved it and bugged him even more.
Oh crap, dishwasher filter!? Maybe that was the problem! Whoops. I got a GE to match the rest of the appliances, middle of the line but very highly rated, like the third most purchased dishwasher. I can't wait to use it! Listen to us, all pumped over minivans and appliances-
zengal last summer (nonpregnant) a bunch of our friends were hanging out by the fire, and then we started discussing banks and their customer service. It was the first time we realized we were adults. Immediately we played flip cup and made sure we didn't grow up too much.
I just wrote a huge response and it wouldn't let me post so I started over.

He did grunt alot when he was 2 weeks. I know I am a very chatty person. Maybe he just inherits that from me. I talked and read books to him all the time. I still do. We started teaching him words and picks them up so quickly. DH taught him cool. I wish I could show video so you could hear him.
songbirdsinging55 oh man I would love to see a video. He is just too cute. H and I are super quiet people and I talk to Liam all day, but I know quite a bit of time can go and I haven't said a word, too. Pretty sure H just basically babbles and they converse with grunts, sighs and screeches lol. He talks to him with real words too but not much haha.
H and I can go on a whole date at dinner and maybe only say a few words though lol. I joke that I think the servers always think we are on an awkward first date and don't know what to say. Haha
LO is wielding a paint stir stick like a sword in her car seat. I asked her how slaying the dragons was going and you just hear the stick smacking the sides of her car seat and giggles. She's really proud of herself right now.
I am too far behind to tag but re: mini vans I secretly want one and am in my late 20"s however my H is not having it...maybe when baby #2 comes along!
Re: potty I want to try this but we have so much craziness going on I'm not sure how consistent I would be.
Re: talking...my lo babbles happily but isn't close to real words yet. I talk to him and read to him but both my H and I are pretty quiet overall (although I narrate everything we do or try to) I always wonder if I'm doing enough
Related to talking I am struggling with how much to play with lo... I am always on gbe floor with him and try to interact and play with him but he doesn't seem interested in "playing" with me, he is very independent and gets super focused and lost in his own world figuring out how things work etc. I know they need independent play time so I let him be but it makes me feel like I should be doing something more. He does love playing peekaboo when he is in his jumper and he laughs and interacts with me other times as long as there aren't toys around. How much are you guys "playing" with lo?
Today was a 12+ hour day and I still have 35 unread emails that came in while I was in meetings that I need to go through tonight... I'm currently cuddling lo while he nurses and naps...he took 6.5 ounces while I was gone today but he has still been nursing like crazy since I got home and I don't mind at all :-)

I'm feeling like I need to fit a house inside my car for this convertible car seat crap. I've been to BRU twice today and spent the rest of the day on Amazon reviews. A total of 3 different seats have been wrestled in and out of my car. No bike ride for me after all! Maybe tomorrow?
spikesmom your playing sounds like our playing- peekaboo, silly faces and sounds, and singing. I stack blocks so she can knock them down and put toys just out of her reach so she has to figure out how to get them, and talk to her about what she's playing with. I switch out the toys for novelty. She likes Tupperware lids and my vitamin bottle too. And the physical games, like riding on a pony, hehe.
