We started LO almost 3w ago, and she could care less. I'm a little disappointed because DD1 was wildly in love with it, so I hoped for a stronger reaction. Any other experiences?
Also, I'm thinking of doing cloth diapers for the beach this summer instead of swim diaps- anybody want to provide some direction there? I've always been a full-time sposie mom.
I think any exposure to the water is good, even if they don't seem thrilled. I don't think classes at this age are a requirement, but if you can do it, great. We don't start until later, but they spend every summer in the pool daily.
We cloth diaper anyway, and do for the pool/beach as well. I prefer using older pockets that I already have - why buy something new? But if I was buying new I wouldn't want one that was fully elastic at the top - I'd want velcro or snaps. If it's a poopy diaper, it will be nasty, pulling it down seems worse to me. But, at the end of the day, I'd do a pull down cloth one over disposable.

This for us, too. We just use diapers we already have. You don't need a fancy swim diaper, any old cover will do. They aren't to keep pee out of the water (that's impossible, even with disposables), they're just to keep poop out.
You have to switch diapers back & forth of you want true pee coverage. I just don't worry about it & only put a real diaper on if they're going to sleep or we're leaving.
We are doing swim lessons and DS loved the first two lessons but last week he seemed skeptical. It was weird. I just use a Bumgenius pocket without an insert for his swim diaper.
