numbersgirl08 - I'll take the OB name (PM me!), I'm very much in the researching phase still, as the meet and greet for my more "local" place isn't until the 24th. I feel like I'm putting off my first appointment a bit much with this, but this time around I'm just not in a hurry ;-)
nursemommy13 (or anybody else that might know) - do you know how hospitals charge for L&D? I mean, I had a 6k charge for the 20 minutes of "OB" time I had - does that mean that somebody like numbersgirl08 who had her OB with her for 3X that long is charged 3x as much? And if I had four nurses in there when only three were "on the clock", do I wind up paying for that extra person's overtime? I mean, I don't care because at the end of it, my insurance is paying for most of it, but DH and I were talking about this, and I'm really curious. Is labor a flat rate? Or does somebody who has a 36 hour labor get charged 3x as much as somebody who just labors for 10 hours?
I have no clue. I know you don't pay for an "extra" nurse. That's all figured into payroll in the department and the hospital pays the nurses. It doesn't matter if you have 2 or 10 nurses. They don't charge us to a patient.
As far as everything else, I don't know. I would assume what you pay is related to how long you were there? I had a scheduled section, so whatever I paid was pretty standard I assume.
Do you guys actually pay DC by week? Every place I've seen here goes by month. Budgeting for the occasional 5-week month would make me a little crazy (because obviously I need to have every penny accounted for every month). I love that my extra paycheque months are completely bonus, all our fixed expenses are monthly.
nachellebeck This reminds me, a while ago you were trying out Mint. Did you end up sticking with it?
I pay by the week. I actually just write them a check for 2 weeks every time I get paid (which is every 2 weeks). It works well that way for me.
Ugh, full time here is $249 a week...3 days a week is $185.
I probably also shouldn't say they provide everything except diapers. (Wipes, food, water/milk, sunscreen, and they even wash soiled clothes)
That's ours too. Pretty comparable to nachellebeck. I have to send diapers for the "community pot." Lol and I sent sunscreen. They provide lunch, 2 snacks a day, water, milk.....
I totally understand violet . I was like $900? Yup, sounds about right. I know a lot of women with two or more kids in the city that literally pay to work.
Not directed at you sympkin- I see this a lot, but why does childcare seem to only come out of the woman's salary? It is a shared expense! Maybe it is just wording, but it seems backwards to say the female is paying to work instead of the net family budget has gone down. It just seems like another "glass ceiling" or some shit.
Unless you're divorced and then it's the responsibility of the custodial parent. :/

Yes by the week. It's nice for us because if we keep DD out for a whole week we only pay 100 dollars. Plus they take credit cards (hello "free" flights).
Our old place took cards, but the new one does not. I am a tiny bit bummed about the miles we aren't getting. Between you and DH I am getting excited about all the potentially free flights we are racking up.
B thinks i have a penis...didnt realize it starts so early....guess i should correct him
We had to go through all the animals and people in the house yesterday and discuss whether they had a penis or a vagina. He was extra concerned about our dogs for some reason.
Play date went great! P had fun and I got to make progress with a new mommy friend. She's actually the girl who kept P all day when I had C so DH could be with me. P then had a rough time going down for a nap, but is hopefully getting a good one. AND!!!! We got the results back from C's genetic sequencing and he has something that is so rare that Google can't even find it. Lol. But, he is fine, it won't affect him in any way and requires no further action. Praise the Lord!

Haha. That's funny. I guess one good(?) thing about P not really talking yet, is that we haven't had to deal with any penis talk yet. With two boys, I'm sure it'll be fun.
Didn't someone last week say something about drama on parenting that they were going to sum up or share the link? Not the girl who went away then came back, then went away and now is trying to come back. And with the girl who made the right intro on our page, I only said hello to be cordial because it seems weird to me. Why wait this long??

classictwitch That was me with LO at his party yesterday. He was an anxious clingy limit testing mess til most of the crowd went home. I had to do two timeouts with him away from people to stop the screaming.
I just called to check on G. He didn't eat breakfast or lunch His teacher said he went to sleep almost immediately when it was nap time. And he's only gotten upset once and that was because he was supposed to clean up the toys so they could move on to the next activity and he didn't want to do that.

Yep. A few months back J pointed at my vagina and said "penis". I told him that i dont have a penis and moved on. The second time he did it i explained it further and told him that mommy doesnt have a penis only boys do like him and daddy. I went on to tell him that mommy/girls have a vagina. His reaction was to point to my "area" and say "'gina!" Hahaha
He still calls it a 'gina if it comes up but it hasnt come up in some time now.
I think ive posted this story before. Sorry for the repeat!
Does your kid ask for tylenol? b asked for. Medicine to feel better. He claims his mouth hurts. It makes sense his canines are coming thru. Do you believe them if they ask?
I don't. LO likes the taste of our tylenol, and asks for it every time we're in the bathroom and he's near the drawer he knows its in. I'll ask him if something hurts, and he'll say that something does, but then when I ask him if say his toe hurts, he'll agree with that too.
However, if B has teething symptoms and is cranky and the like, I might consider it. But I take any "medicine!" requests with a hefty handful of salt.

Nope. J loves medicine and always asks for more or asks for some if he sees it. I explain to him that its medicine and that i give him the amount that the box says. I try to make him understand that there is a safe/set amount. I also tell him that its for when he is sick etc.

I give very little credit to the things DD says. A lot of the time I think she's just repeating what she thinks the right thing to say is. With what you said I would probably just give a dose, especially if he came up with his mouth hurting without you suggesting it first. I keep wondering if DD has molars coming in with the way she's been putting stuff in her mouth. He could just be mimicking, especially if he's seen you give tylenol to Y for teething, but one dose won't hurt anything.
DD's DCP just texted me that DD has had a lot of mucus in her eye since she woke up from her nap. I can't gauge if this means I need to try to get a dr appointment for her and she can't come back to DC, or just a heads up. My mom does pickup for me so I can't really wait until then to clarify. Does mucus always mean pick eye?

No. B had mucous with allergies and an ear infection.

+1 they gets colds and rub snot in their eyes and it gets gross..
Boo. Does she get over excited? G used to puke not from being sick but from missing a nap and having a wild and crazy time at like, a birthday party or something like that when he was about this age.
The first time I got to ride in a limo I was so exited (I was 8) I puked. Weak stomach party of one.
I threw up every year on the first day of school until I was in the sixth grade. But nothing else made me excited enough to throw up. So embarrassing…
