Not knocking those who do let their kids watch TV, but we don't and so far I haven't found it that hard to not let DD. It's on all day and she glances over at it occasionally but she doesn't sit and watch anything. But whatever allows you to keep your sanity and get stuff done I say! Your rules, your kid.
FFC: I ask my husband's permission to use his credit card (although today I just told him I was using it tomorrow). Aside from money for bills, I don't get any spending money during the month. But once a month I have a book club meeting at a restaurant and tomorrow a bunch of my girl friends who I haven't seen in months are going out to lunch and I want to be able to go out with them.

My first would stop whatever she was doing and stare at the TV any time any show was on. Charlie is not interested in the TV and won't sit through a whole episode, but that doesn't stop me from trying every morning.
I just read the bad breath thread, and I guess my confession is I don't brush Charlie's teeth. Our pedi said we don't need to do it until he has 8 teeth, and he just got his 8th tooth. I'll probably wait until he's 2ish before I start, though.
FFC DD and I are heading to the grandparents house to go to the zoo tomorrow. DH stayed home. My confession... I brought a little friend to entertain me at night, hint hint. I don't feel to bad since last night he got it but I didn't before he finished...
If J is being cranky or whiny we'll cuddle and watch an episode of Bubble Guppies together. It helps him wind down if he's overtired or too hyper.
My real FFFC: A while ago MH and I got in a fight and he broke one of J's toys (J was already in bed). He was smug about it, saying that he didn't like him having so much plastic crap anyway. That really pissed me off and I want into mama bear mode. I told MH that I was going to fix the old one. Instead I took the passive aggreesive route and ordered a replacement, unpackaged it and assembled it before he got home, and put the old one into the garbage below a couple of bags of trash.
Well, in my perpetually sleep deprived state I didn't realize that I did this twice, so we ended up with TWO replacements. I had to zip by Target on my way home to return the duplicate before he figured it out.
My H tries to let DD watch TV shows but she doesn't ever get interested. I don't really plan to have designated TV time until she is 2 and then it will only be 20 or so minutes. DS is 13 and he only gets 2 hours of TV time a day during the week and 4 hours on the weekend. It works for us an keeps the kids from monopolizing the living room. It also encourages DS to read a ton.
I don't really have a confession. Maybe I will think of one later.

I haven't either and DD has probably about 12 teeth. The pedi brought it up at her apt and he wasn't concerned at all and said it isn't a huge deal yet because she's probably just going to swallow the toothpaste anyways. So I won't worry either
I'm glad to hear the pedi's input on teeth brushing. I'm not as good as I should be with it and some days she really protests so I give up before even trying.
We don't watch tv with E because (here's the fffc) we cancelled our cable last month. We have chromecast, so DH and I can watch the occasional movie on the TV, but otherwise it just sits there. E ignore it, though she used to pick up the remote and point it at the tv.
northernlghts I do something similar! Dh and I have our own cc's and bank accounts, and one joint bank acct. (we both work). it's all his money in the joint, and that's the acct we use to pay most of the house bills. sometimes I'll just kinda....tell him....that I'm using some money in the acct for something. lol. usually it's presents for family or necessary stuffs.
FFFC: DH has been all up in my business about what I'm eating lately, which is pissing me off. He wants to be helpful but he doesn't understand that I just want to bitch about my pants not fitting....not actually stop eating all the cookies. so now I try to eat while he's not around. not a good thing, I know, I just don't want to hear it. I gotta say though...I bought a family sized box of those chocolate peanut butter granola bars at the store today on a whim, just for me. I do need to stop!

kimberpoo my H is the same way!! I'm also like "you eat more crap that I do and I'm a helluva lot more active so STFU" in my head when he makes comments.
My FFFC: I've let DS have a drink of coke and eat chocolate once in a while because it means I don't have to listen to a temper tantrum.

Sometimes I wish I liked more vegetables. I've tried them as a kid and as an adult and for the most part-do not like. I've tried them steamed, baked, grilled, etc and no go. Last year I even had DH cook up a bunch of squash and feed me some randomly with my eyes closed (so I wouldn't have any preconceived notions on how it would taste) and that didn't work. Basically I eat what goes in a salad (spinach, romaine, celery, green peppers only, and carrots but only in a bite with other stuff). I look at people eating plates of veggies with their meals and think "Man, I wish I liked that stuff too"
I get it northernlghts. I'm picky about veggies too. I can't stand broccoli, cauliflower, brussel sprouts, cooked greens, and raw tomatoes. The worst is when I'm visiting the in laws and dinner is a salad (I'm ok with, but pick out half of ingredients), steamed broccoli (ew), and grilled chicken. I feel like a little kid being so picky about what I eat.

I still give LO bottles. I know it's well past time to give them up, but she just loves them so much(she does drink water out of a sippy at meals). I've never seen a kid get so excited about a bottle.
This week I've started cutting out her daytime bottles and just giving her one before bed. But even that I have failed on a few times. I haven't felt well most days this week so I end up giving her one in the morning so I can lay back down while she's drinking it.

My first loved bottles, and I let her have them until she was 2. She could put the dr Browns bottles together on her own! We tried to stop a few times, and it was awful. When we finally tried again right after she turned 2, it was so easy!
We still have a bedtime bottle too, although she's shown less interest in it lately (drinks it but doesn't seem as enthused). I feel like I should take advantage of this to drop it -- every day I say maybe I'll try skipping the bottle tonight, but then put it off. It's one of the few times she'll still sit and snuggle anymore so I'm going to miss it, and I worry about disrupting her routine since we have a good thing going right now. I think it will be harder on me than on her, lol.
ETA: also she still doesn't drink a ton during the day, so gets a significant portion of her liquid intake from that bottle. I know she'll probably(?) drink more in the day if I drop it, but I still worry. So many excuses, lol.

LO still gets a bedtime bottle and most night a MOTN bottle. I just cut out the morning bottle this week and started to give it to her in a sippy cup instead.
My DD didn't start drinking more milk during the day until we dropped her pre nap sippys. We are in the process of eliminating the pre bedtime sippy and were at offering 2.5-3 oz and she doesn't finish them. I figure they'll be gone completely in the next few days!
eta: my Dr wanted milk before sleeping gone by 15 months.

Well I'll say I'm glad I'm not alone with the bottles! Our pedi told us 18 months so that was a relief. I figure that gives me 3 more months, should be enough time to figure it out.
Levi is another still getting up to 3 bottles a day. Morning, nap and nighttime. He happily drinks water from sippy but takes a sip or two of milk and throws it down. We will continue offering milk in the sippy but this is one issue way low for me on the priority list.
DD was fully transitioned to sippys, but then we weaned our morning nursing session, so we replaced that with a bottle. I think when we wean at bedtime we'll do a bottle then too.
Stupid question, what is the difference between bottle and sippy. I currently use these on DD, is it still considered a bottle and do I need to change?
LO just turned 14 months yesterday and I am in no hurry to wean. I like that I know he is getting all his vitamins from it so I don't have to be nuts about what he is eating just yet. He has started weaning himself....turning down the bottle and pointing to other food in the kitchen which we gladly give him. I give him solids every time I eat or snack and he's doing just fine. I plan to just let him set the pace
We have attempted to put LO to watch something or to play on iPad. No interest. But we haven't tried hard and we will continue to try and not have screen time. I haven't found it hard to get things done while he plays.
