I will make it tonight and consolidate the posts once I'm sure I won't be tarred and feathered over the name. I may be a thief of joy, lol, but in the long run you guys want more people right? This will help. Maybe we'll pull in some newbs for you to "play" with.
I made the description with those of you pregnanting in mind. I need to add more to it for SEO purposes, but if you like it that line will stay. Besides, we never said we would let people name the board. We learned our lesson from the clusterfuck of naming TCF.
ETA I do want to know that we also didn't ask for opinions or feedback on the board name. I know hope you're mostly joking, but while we do try to keep things pretty democratic, some things just needed to be set up a certain way for the benefit of the forum and so that means sometimes we have to make administrative decisions.
Just LMK when you're changing the board name of GKU for SEO. If we can't have nice things, no one can!
Honestly, I really wish that just one thing we try to do or change for this site could happen easily and without stress. Just one.
Dude. You have a site full of members with differing opinions. When you share what you're doing and frame it as though our opinions will be taken into consideration, what do you really expect? I'm really not trying to be a dick but honestly I don't feel badly for speaking my mind either.

When did we ever say that we needed opinions on the name of this board? Where? You told us that you were off to find a name. No one asked if we wanted or needed help naming it. I'm not trying to be bitchy, but when we need ideas or thoughts we absolutely ask for them. I don't think it's wrong for us to chose some things for the board without added input.
Now I just had a big issue blow-up in the back end that I need to look into so I don't have time to argue this, but I want to make it very clear that while we did ask for concerns in regards to the board consolidations and index changes I really don't think we framed that as a discussion for everyone to come in and choose names for the new boards. We listed the names we had planned in the post. We did listen to some thoughts to change this to a general pregnancy board instead of "Pregnancy Questions", but I don't think we're out of line to name it ourselves when we never indicated otherwise.
Holy shit man. You ask for opinions about everything. I didn't know the line was drawn at naming a board fucking Pregnanting because it doesn't work for one board's search engine optimization. My bad for not knowing where tge arbitrary line is drawn on wanting members' opinions.
No fun allowed. Got it. Back to more important things like generating revenue for your site.

Is this seriously necessary? We aren't generating any revenue. We've spent hundreds of dollars out of pocket each and hundreds of hours of whatever free time we can muster on this site. Is it so awful that we would like for it to eventually pay for itself instead of us spending money on it?
What is awful (and that's probably a stretch) is that you guys ask for opinions and feedback on stuff, you get feedback (and let's be honest, us talking about naming a pregnancy board wasn't the only thing "off topic" in that thread), and then you do what you want anyway. So just do it - don't frame it as if you actually want our feedback. It's not like it was just me. Almost everyone on this board voted in a poll, whether it meant anything or not, and you saw "what the people wanted." Then I leave the big forum-wide thread and come here to be annoyed about it and you have an "answer" to everything.
Nothing you've said has justified not letting us have fun with the name of this board - I don't think that generating clicks is a reason to do something. It's how I feel and I'm allowed to say it.
And you're the admin of this site so you make the final decisions and for me, I wish you'd just do it and not try to make me feel badly for coming here and jokingly bitching (at first) about it.

Frank, you know I PPH you. But, quite honestly, this site is a money hole as it stands now. We don't have enough traffic or ad revenue. Eventually, this place will stagnate. No new members. Unless people can find us. That means we need to be googleable. To be googleable, we have to name things in a way that allows for easy searching.
Pregnanting is a cute name. That no one will ever Google. I want this place to succeed, and I know you do, too. And in the long run, it's not the name. It's the people. Isn't the important thing that we're all here, and that here can continue to exist and grow?

If that's the case, then all of the boards should be googleable. My main point is I really don't like the guise of "we want your feedback" when it's really "we want your feedback but have pretty much already made up our minds."
It's not like I'm going to leave, and I was truly being playful at first, but I also think I should be allowed to bitch. I just don't like a ruse.

This is where I'm at. I really could care less about the name. I'm just glad that I kind of got my way with having a preggly space that hopefully will have more activity than my BMB.

^^^not overly dramatic at all. FFS I'm voicing my opinion. I'm not going to feel badly about it. I'm glad Biblio and Bunny feel differently. It's how this all works. We all say how we feel about shit. We left TD because we could no longer do that, for fear of being banned by Admins. Not like that here.

Yeah. Trust me, we're not in it for "The money". Like theo said, we've all spent hundreds out of pocket in the last six months, and insane hours of our free time getting this place to where it is at.
At this point in the game, if we want to stay vibrant, we DO have to worry about things like SEO and searchability.
If it were all about the money, we'd be adding every single curse word to the censored word list, and telling you guys that you couldn't say "sex" and "vagina" because advertisers don't like it.
But instead, we've opted to stay on the Proboards free platform for longer, because a forum without FUCKS is a forum not worth having.

I'm so over faux democracy. There was a clear winner on poll number one that everyone (except for admins, cause it's all about SEO, yo) agreed on.
This is dumb and dramatic, if you're going to accuse theophania of being dramatic. A poll that 45 people voted on really doesn't come off as 'clearly' democratic.
Cutesy phrases / inside jokes are fun once you're part of a community, but don't we all want and understand the need for new users for TCF? I think the board descriptions are an obvious place to keep things like "pregnanting" as part of the board culture and that yes, board titles should be more accessible and broadly appealing.
I must have missed this not being over last night. Good thing the reinforcements showed up this morning.
Had I been awake last night, I would have contributed. My point was that if we want new members, new members have to be able to find us.
And at the end of the day, it is quite impossible to vote on every single aspect of the forums and the design and the layout.
You are free to express your disagreement, but that doesn't mean that I won't chime in when someone accuses me/us/the admins of only caring about the bottom line.
Proboards has even offered enhancements to the community that come at a loss of revenue to them, because they care about this being a safe space for our members- especially the loss and IF ladies

Theo spoke quite well for the admins last night. But I also like to go to threads when I'm bat signaled so I get it. Just really thought we both let this thread die last night (she even got the last word!) so resurrecting it this morning was quite unnecessary, IMO.
