Hey ladies. I've been using my snuggle pillow thing to make myself sleep on my side for awhile now and it has been fine. But I've noticed that the last week or so (I'm almost 17 weeks), I wake up with terrible hip and sometimes shoulder pain from sleeping on my side. I try to shift my weight forward onto the pillow some, but it still hurts. I don't know if it's because of the hormones that are supposed to be loosening my hips, since it's only been recent.
wtf, how am I supposed to sleep for the next 23 weeks?! Does anyone have any recommendations??!!

I ended up having to sleep recliner-style with DD1, with like 4 pillows shoved under my head. I only made it a few weeks on my side, after that I starting having horrible heartburn and half-sitting half-lying was the only way I didn't feel like I was going to die. Maybe try that?

I have hip pain too. And I'm sleeping in the exact same position as before. And I have a squishy soft memory foam mattress. I'm blaming hormones. I find leaning back on a pillow helps. I'm not totally on my back, but not on my hip either.

No suggestions for you, but I'm totally in the same boat. I have a Snoogle and I sleep with three other pillows propping various parts of my body up at night and I still can't get comfortable. MH has moved to another zip code.
I have part of my pillow (its a huge U-shaped one) under my butt/back and the other part kind of under my side so I'm halfway between my side and my back. I also put both of my arms down - R arm by my side on top of the pillow, L arm flat on the bed. This alleviates pressure on my hip and also keeps my arms from falling asleep/numb.

See, this is the problem I'm having lately and it's driving me nuts! I wake up so many times with my hand or arm numb. It makes me worry that I'm going to somehow do some kind of permanent damage due to blood loss to my limbs :/

Yeah, I have to think about it and make sure my arms are placed correctly when I settle in. Otherwise, they'll end up across my belly which makes them go asleep from being upright. But it's been working. You can always try it to see if your arms will stay put!

Ugh to the arms falling asleep. Sometimes mine start to tingle before I've even fallen asleep and then I have to adjust all over again. This has always been a problem (well, for the last few years anyway), but now it's become more irksome.
Plus one for sleeping in the recliner a few nights. I've really struggled with sleeping thorough the night and getting comfortable. The only thing that feels good is being on my back, which I know I can't do.
Anyone with the hands falling asleep it could be pregnancy induced Carpel tunnel. Chat with your Dr. I had it with my last pregnancy, but not until much later. She prescribed me a couple wrist braces & they seemed to help.
On the hip pain note, I have had experience with this too. Do you sleep with a pillow between your legs? I found that if I make sure the pillow is between both my knees & my ankles, this helps with the hip pain some. Hard if you have a habit of moving around, but it can maybe help!

Yeah, I always have the pillow between my legs? But it was the hip and shoulder that is against the bed that keeps getting jammed and painful. I guess I'm just in for the long haul of discomfort! Thanks ladies!

I've been sleeping with my body pillow for most of the side. Part on my side part of my stomach shifted into the pillow so I'm not on my side. I toss and turn a lot though. If I'm propped up (ie on the couch) it's not as bad. I also had some nighttime hand problems but not numb-I would wake up with pain. Yay carpal tunnel. Sleeping with braces every other day is helping for now. Stay hydrated too. Otherwise.... I've given up on a good nights sleep for like the next 10 years.

I have the same problem. It helps me to lay almost on my back but put a pillow under my back and hips on one side so I'm sorta slanted. It's the most comfortable I can get.
