What do you plan to have as your post labor meal? With my first I had my inlaws get Indian takeout for me, for my second I had hospital food right away, because starving, and then I ordered a steak from Outback later. No plans as of yet this time, but maybe one of you will inspire me.
I had food from the hospital. It was #exciting. It was a burger? Or mac & cheese? I do not even remember, clearly. It tasted just fine and I ate it all.
I had requested sushi (spica tuna) and champagne be brought to me while in the hospital at some point (or at least after we got home!) and that request was not honored. I will request again and I hope someone pays attention this time. Although I might go for a nice full-bodied red instead. I might just pack my own bottle in the hospital bag. Do you think that would be frowned upon?

Last time I had scrambled eggs, an English muffin and really good bacon.
My plan is for something off the hospital menu - what depends on the menu and time of day. The food was surprisingly good last time - the first day in post-partum they had this dill potato soup that was so good I ordered it twice (for lunch and dinner) and made DH order it for dinner and ate his.
Unless, for some weird reason, I deliver in the middle of the night. In that case, I will ask DH to go get something from whatever happens to be open. I was HUNGRY after delivery, since the last solid food I'd eaten was about 24 hours before (I had had broth and jello about 14 hours before).

The first hospital I delivered at had an awesome snack lounge just for the new moms. I took so much food from there. I figure, if you're going to charge me thousands of dollars, then I can steal a few sandwiches on top of my room service.

I have no idea. That's months away. Maybe my mom can smuggle in a plate of homemade Thanksgiving food or something. But I guess I just figured I would eat what the doctors let me.

My understanding is that you have to fart before you're allowed to eat real food if you have a c-section. I've already accepted the fact that it is almost certain that I will wind up delivering that way, and since I have not yet mastered the ability to fart on command I refuse setting myself up for disappointment by going into this whole thing with the motivation to push through (figuratively, unfortunately) so I can get a cheese steak at the end.
Box of Franzia? Totally different story.
After I had a colonoscopy, they wouldn't let me leave until I farted. The nurse put my legs in a weird position, kinda rolling me on my side, and bang, farted right away.
With DD I ate hospital food and a lot of it I was so hungry. The hospital I delivered her at had really good food. The hospital I will be delivering at this time is supposed to have good food. There are people that go there for lunch and don't even work there. They also do a nice steak dinner for the mother and partner one of the nights you are there. I am looking forward to that!

With DS my brother & sister brought me my favorite sushi to the hospital. I didn't ask for it, but it was so awesome of them! I would love to have some raw oysters & champagne. I miss oysters especially in the summer.

Last time I wanted a Big Mac and a vanilla milkshake after not having real food for almost 24 hours. Then I immediately felt sick. I'm not planning anything specific but I will keep in mind that the huge meal was not ok on my digestive system.
I mostly want a huge cooler of sangria. All of it.

So much yes. Take all the things.
I took all the things I could. Nurses even told me to grab all the diapers left in the room. Those giant waterproof pads for the bed in particular are the best. Perfect for when the kids have a stomach bug but aren't old enough to not puke in bed. And also great for end of pregnancy when you are scared of your water breaking in bed (not that it's that likely, but I don't really want to risk that mess on my nice mattress.)

My sister is in charge of bringing a good bottle of wine when I go into labor since shes going to be there for the birth. I'll probably go for something high in protein like a burger or steak. Idk though. We live in a rural area so chances are if I deliver in the middle of the night it will be a hospital sandwich.
I have thought about this for months now! I am so surprised people don't have some specific "hanker" they have been lusting after for their whole pregnancy. I have tried not to eat any of the supposedly off-limits foods, and my biggest craving has been for a turkey hoagie from Jersey Mike's. I know most listeria hasn't been found in lunch meat anyway, so it's probably stupid to not just eat this now. Does any body have any science that will make me feel ok about eating turkey lunch meat?
And if that doesn't make you feel better, I specifically asked my doctor about it at my first appointment, and he was legitimately confused. Dr: "Why can't you have lunchmeat?" Me: "listeria?" Dr: "Don't drink unpasteurized milk."
So I've been eating lunchmeat normally since then.

We used cloth diapers and still cleaned out the cart of diapers and wipes. Used them while traveling. Take whatever you can. They charged you twice what a bottle of aspirin costs for two aspirin. Fair is fair.
