Hi. I'm new to this board, but a few awesome people on parenting pointed me over here. Not sure if they were just sick of my posting about my anxiety over there () or what, but here I am.
We have a bunch of trades coming to do some home repairs (under warranty) today and it's freaking me out to have strangers in my house. I have a potty training toddler and a baby who naps a lot. My house is a disaster and I don't like strangers.
I'm on day 3 of new meds and still getting used to them.
This is all too much. But I can't reschedule as this appt has been booked for a month.
Hi! I'm glad you're over here. Just take one thing at a time today. Are you able to be in a separate area of the house from the workers? That is what I usually do. It makes me a bit anxious not to watch what they're doing, but (for me) it makes me less anxious about them being in the house. I let myself be tricked by if I can't see them then they must not be there. Are they at your house all day today or just for a few hours?
I also wish you the best on your new meds. I know how hard that can be to transition! Stay strong.
Good advice from thedish. when I get work done, I normally just leave the house all together. I'm probably far too trusting, but it works for me. I can't bear strange folk in the house, hate feeling forced to make small talk and end up just pacing around all day, unable to feel comfortable in my own home. So I escape until it's over! Honestly jnerd, the tradesman won't care about the state of your house....so try not to worry about that. I go in and out of people's houses at work and believe me....yours will be just fine. Do you have friends or relatives closeby where you can hang out with the kids so your baby can nap still?
Thankfully an awesome friend came over. Having company I know there made it much easier. Plus when they were done she took the toddlers outside so I could recoup.

I was going to say grab a friend to hang out. This is what I did at my friends while she was getting a bunch of work in her house done. Took the pressure off to interact with the workers and it gave her an extra set of hands. Always feels good to get the helping hand you need.
