would you buy prescription drugs over the internet?

My minor dilemma is this. I have a lapsed prescription for levothyroxine from my doctor in Canada. I've been without for a few months and it shows. zzzzzzzz

I am living in France now and do not yet have a doctor here. My doctor in Canada retired suddenly in December. I cannot get a renewed prescription over the phone from the doctor who is taking over his practice without having a reasonable exam.

So, I have sourced the drug on the internet but am hesitant to buy it. What if they ship me NOT levothyroxine. How would I know?

Any thoughts? Advice?

I've purchased domperidone from Canada.

Have you tried just going to the pharmacy? I had luck with that in Italy, as the pharmacies were able to diagnose and prescribe meds in house without a separate visit to a Dr. If you have an old prescription bottle or slip, take it with you and try.

I did ask at the pharmacy and they said no. I don't have the prescription with me.

Do you remember the name of the company you used in Canada? The one I was looking at was a company in India.

I would really try to get yourself to a Dr when you can. You need to be monitored on levothyroxine. I'm taking it now, and have to go in for blood tests every 6 months to make sure my TSH and T4 levels haven't gone wonky. I gain a ton of weight when they do.

I would if I was sure it was a legitimate site. I'm leary though of some of the places that don't require a prescription. How long will it take you to get a new dr? As you are probably aware, your dose of levothyroxine depends on your bloodwork and so the dose you were taking might not be the correct dose.

I wouldn't buy drugs from a site that didn't require a current prescription.

My dog had Cushing's disease and congestive heart failure and the meds she was on were human meds. We bought them online but we had to have a current script.

Is there a reason you can't see a Dr in France?

I don't think I would. I would be afraid of there being something wrong with the medication. I'd find a new doc in France if possible and get a new prescription.

I actually don't know what the process of finding a doctor here is like, we haven't looked. We will be back in Canada on the summer and then returning here at a later date.

What's the reason for being in France? Like military or company transfer? Can the company help you locate medical care? Do your kids have drs there?

We are self employed. We have private insurance and the kids do not have a doctor here.

I will be checking with our insurance about going to a doctor but I fear I will get some bullshit about a preexisting condition. It's not critical either way, I can suck it up and pay out of pocket or suck it up and wait til I can see my new doctor in Canada this summer.

Given the type of medication you are on, I wouldn't. But I did buy domperidone from foreign internet pharmacies, I think it was in the Netherlands.

So I don't think the idea of buying from a foreign website is crazy, but in this scenario, I'd find a doctor since you're due for a check up anyway.
