We are heading out of town next weekend and we need suggestions for audio books we can listen to in the car. With J getting more verbal by the day we want to avoid books with tons of swearing or sexual language. I prefer modern books. Comedy, nonfiction, and action heavy fiction are our favorites. Thanks!

I am not a fan of audio books as they're like somebody reading me a bedtime story, they put me to sleep. But of the ones I've heard, the voice annoys me. But I seem to remember The Help having a nice voice. I don't think there are a lot of cuss words...not sure, except for the chocolate pie scene.
I got the Lord of the Rings when we had many 5 hour drives. They were not to bad voice wise, add long as you can get past the voice in the first chapter
This doesn't really fit in your categories, but I just finished The Book Thief on tape and it was great. I just started listening to books on my commute, so I'm interested in hearing what others have to say.

I'm into fantasy, so it may not fit perfectly, but I'm listening to a series right now and loving it. The first book is called Mistborn. Really gripping, great characters and the guy who reads it is awesome.
I've been recommended the behind the scenes book for The Princess Bride movie (I'm not a fan of the movie so it's not my thing).
I'd probably get David Sedaris to listen to, if I wanted something for a trip. I have no interest in reading his books, but that's mostly because I can't imagine them being as good as him telling his stories and they're generally not the type of book I read. But, I have loved catching his stories on NPR.
