The State of the Sleeper - Toddler Sleeping Situation

We haven't touched base on where everyone is regarding the sleeping situation in a while.

Note: This poll is not meant to alienate, guilt, or otherwise pressure anyone into making decisions that their family may not be ready to make at this time. I am merely curious what the average sleep situation is on our board. 

When they are sleeping, where does your toddler rest their wee little head?

I voted Crib 4 Lyfe. We have a toddler bed for her but, until we get child-proof doorknobs, we won't be letting her sleep in her big girl bed. We tried one night and she wouldn't stop coming out of her room.

I really don't care what she does in her room once the lights go out (we have everything put away that she can get into except her books). I know she'll crash eventually. If it is not in her bed, we'll move her there. But, she has to stay in her room.

We hope to have her transitioned into her own bed by the time this new baby is ready to move into the crib (i.e. sleeping through the night or at least sleeping long stretches) - so we've got some time.

We have a twin for her but she is currently in her crib still. I am in denial.

She starts the night in her crib, anywhere from 2-8 hours, then "sleeps" with me for the rest of the night.

We transitioned to a twin bed while we were between houses. My parents and ILs both had a crib and twin bed in their nurseries. G was the one who wanted to start sleeping in the twin bed at 19 months.

When we moved into our new house we bought him a twin bed but didn't want a big, ugly rail on the side. I did some internet searching and we settled on putting a big pool noodle along the edge of his bed under the mattress pad. It works perfectly without being an eye sore and only cost $5. G actually snuggles with it at night.

Toddler bed, but in our room. I want to put him back in his room ASAP since he sleeps well in his toddler bed now.

But DH is insistent that he stays in our room for 9 more months. His thinking is that our new LO will stay in our room for 4-6 months and that it's not fair for R to be alone. I think he forgets how much newborns wake up. If she is a terrible sleeper and wakes R up I guess I will sleep in the nursery with her?

Fourh of July weekend he will be sleeping in a toddler bed. If he does well and wants to sleep in a "big boy" bed when we get back we will convert his crib.

I really wish I could answer crib. But after his failed attempt at being a gymnast that landed him on the wrong side of the crib, we didn't have much of a choice and he transitioned to a toddler bed 3 months ago. Honestly though, the beginning was harsh- but now he stays in his bed if I ask him to- so it's really not so bad.

I voted crib but buying him a twin bed is on my list. 2.1 will need the crib sooner then later.

E hasn't made an attempt but I would really like her to be acclimated to sleeping in a big girl bed before the baby comes. Which isn't for a while but still... she sleeps in a regular bed at my mom's when she stays the night and I guess she sleeps in a regular bed for naps at the babysitters so this wouldn't be a totally foreign concept. Am I out to lunch. Should we wait until she tries to escape?

Still in the crib. I don't know when we will switch. Maybe at the end of the year. I have no idea what the benefits are as far as her sleeping but she's an awesome sleeper in the crib right now and does not show any interest in getting out.

We decided that when we get a new bed set ( in the next few months) we will just pass down our queen mattress to K.

We already have a full size bed rail we can put up, & the mattress (which is still good) would just be thrown out.

Unless he tries to poll vault (sp?) over the crib rail sooner...

Full size bed by himself all night long. It took so long to get to this point but it is amazing! Bedtime isn't a battle anymore now that he willingly goes to sleep on his own.

He's in a twin on the bottom bunk of in the boys shared room. He's been in that since September.

He switches between his crib mattress on the floor and his full sized bed. Halfway through the night he ends up in our bed

Toddler bed. She does very well in it and made the transition very smoothly. She's been in a toddler bed for a couple months. She has only gotten out once, and I think it's because she had a nightmare.

Twin bed. But still just a mattress on the floor. Not sure when we'll move to using a frame, because the mattress on the floor just works really well.

We switched P to a full size bed, in the frame, about 3 months ago. He's doing really well with it! But, we're back to having to stay in there with him until he falls asleep. But, he was doing that before he was climbing out of the crib.

Haha this was me the other night. We had a power surge at 12:30. Now that its the summer Js door squeaks terribly. The surge made his sound machine turn off. I had to sneak/squeak my way in to turn it back on.
He picked his head up and looked at me!!
I was like shit shit shit!! But thankfully a quick pat on the back and he rolled over and went back to bed.

We converted her crib a couple months ago after she climbed out of it with ease. I had never intended to go the toddler bed route, plan was to go straight to a twin, but since it was a quick decision to switch her this was the easiest way to get it done. She's doing really great. I've got her twin bed now so as soon as we repaint the bedroom we will set it up in there for her. I'm hoping to just set it up and let her choose which bed she wants to sleep in for a while. Once she decides she loves the big girl twin bed we can put the crib back together, hopefully in time for N to move into it

Heres my issue...
We used some wd-40 on a few of our doors and now i cant keep them cracked open bc they slowly swing all the way open.
I usually crack Js door about 2" at night. Im afraid if i oil it it will swing!
Im rarely sneaking into his room so i dont know if its worth the risk.

Hardcore crib 4 life here. With her baby doll, white noise and soothie (it's going as soon as these last molars finish popping through). I'm not going to fix what isn't broke. If she starts climbing we will convert to a toddler bed.

This is us too! When we booked this vacation, I was afraid she would be out of crib sleeping by the time it got here, but that was not the case. Pack n play still works!

This. This fall we will probably start looking at moving out of my parents' house and when that happens is probably when I'll transition her to her big girl bed. Until then, it's the crib. With a pillow. And blanket. And 5 babies. And 2 lovies. And way too much other crap she just has to sleep with LOL
