Where is everyone at? I know we have several people waiting, and one or more who are recently matched. Tell us what's up!
As for me, we have our foster care home study scheduled, as well as our final training class! August 12 for HS, and August 13 for the class. We have a few minor things to take care of besides that and we will be ready for licensure!
I'm starting to freak out a little about how I will handle two kids, the uncertainty of the process, etc. But I'm also excited.

We're sending in our 1800-A tomorrow to USCIS for our international approval. Also working hard now to get the rest of our dossier documents together. Our state makes it a pain to complete the apostile. Oh well.
From there, the dossier goes to SA and we're officially waiting.
We went to a newborn adoption agency meeting today. I was very impressed with them and their techniques.
We also went to a foster care meeting today and I learned that their goal is to take 3 months to get licensed! I mean wow! We signed up for the preliminary background checks to be done. They have a class starting in August, but naturally the day after we leave for vacation.
Our expectant mother is 23 weeks today. We went for a visit this past weekend and had such an awesome time! Also met with a lawyer last week, which was super helpful! So things really are moving along!
We finished and submitted our profile! Our SW gave us feedback right away and I made final edits last night. It was not the easiest thing to do and I ghink it turned out really well. We should be officially waiting soon!

We are frantically trying to get the house ready for our son to move in, only 15 more days to go. We've had 2 long weekends with him at our house already and things seem to be going well. We just joined a support group for people that are also adopting from the foster care system. I wish I would have joined them when I first started the process.
We thought that our case study had been sent to the state last week, but heard yesterday that it is hung up on a form. Hopefully it will go in this week still.
We are doing respite care as a potential placement once we get our license. They are 14 month old boys and are adorable. They are a part of a sibling set of 4, and as much as we don't want to split them up, the current foster family cannot keep all of them. They live close, so it will be easy to keep them in contact on a regular basis.
Thanks for the check in gnome! So we are just frantically getting ready for the arrival of our baby the end of August. We have had lots of email contact with the other adoptive family (our son will be the 3rd child from our EM, and both of the boys were adopted as infants by the same family) . We has also had the pregnancy counsellor take our profile to EM, which she was impressed and happy with the plan, but not feeling like she is ready to meet us at this time. We will definitely take her lead on this. In the meantime we are researching and gathering all things newborn (including creating a list of names)! We are so excited and praying for a safe delivery!

August 16, 2015 baby Boy M is born and our hearts melt!
We are still waiting to receive our foster license from the state. All I know is that our homestudy was submitted on June 3rd and our SW has no idea how long it will take to go through the entire review process.
I just scheduled our home study update meeting for next Monday. We continue to wait. I'm starting to wonder when it's time to branch out beyond our agency and our blog.

Waiting... We met with an expectant mother over the weekend, she picked us and one other family to meet and after a couple days she decided to go with the other family. We are sad but hopeful that we have only been waiting for 6 weeks and this was our second profiling opportunity (we had to decline having our profile shown the first time). I think the deciding factor was the other couple lived closer to her so nothing we can do about that. She did give us great feedback on our profile which was invaluable! Trying to stay positive.
MH and I sent in our preliminary application to the agency we've selected. We are just waiting to hear back and get the ball rolling.
Even though we know our wait is just beginning, MH asked that I check out some books from the library on parenting for dads, adoption, etc. so that he can study up. Our families can't believe how 'long' the process is. Apparently they all thought of a 'long time' as in, this time next year we would have a placement.
Slightly unrelated MH is worried that we're going to be 'too young' for most birth mothers. But I think he's mostly nervous and over-thinking things.

I was told that younger couples especially appeal to younger EM so I don't think that you being young will be a negative.

Thanks for that! MH did some googling and found a 'estimated age for adoptive parents' so it started getting him over-thinking things.
We're still waiting ... Officially 6 months now. No activity on our profile in the past 3 months. Starting to think about joining another agency to increase our options ...
So we brought home Ollie on April 7th and the TPR hearing is scheduled for August 27th. I just feel like this is taking a while and we will still have to wait at least another 60 days until finalization. I was really hoping it wouldn't take this long.

We are nearing the end of the process for getting out foster care license!!!!!! We have our final home visit with our caseworker scheduled for July 28. Assuming all of our paperwork is in order, the next step will be for our caseworker to finish writing up our home study and then submit everything to the state. Optimistically, we should be licensed by September!
MH has already switched to a part time work schedule (he will work part time and be a part time SAHD) since we initially were told we should be licensed by early August. This will be an interesting time for us while we wait for licensure and our first placement. We are hoping to adopt but are also willing to foster so there are a lot of unknowns for us!
we are getting our finger prints done tomorrow and then handing in the paperwork. We already completed our classes and have almost all the requirements finished like first aid kits and fire extinguishers... Everything just got really real!

We are waiting and have our homestudy renewal meeting next week. The first renewals felt good since preparing gave me purpose but renewing a 2nd time is just depressing. It reminds me of our long wait and I am losing hope that this will ever happe for us.

Still waiting. In 7 days it will be a year since we went Active. Trying to stay positive through it all, some days harder than others, but I know the waiting is worth it!
We've submitted out initial background check and will be going to an information session within the next couple of weeks. We have our foot in the door now, at least. The woman who will be our case worker seems really nice so fx that once we start the classes things go quickly.

roxy, the support group for people that are also adopting from the foster care system is online or in person? Is it something you can share with me?

We had part one of our PRIDE program last weekend, we are also getting our house cleaned up and ready for our home study which will begin in September. We have the second part of PRIDE Aug 29th & 30th. So far stuff is moving so we are not at the hurry up & wait part of this journey yet. Hugs to all of you that are there and feeling frustration.
