Apparently thinking that teenagers probably shouldn't smoke pot is a UO among my students.
We had a don't-do-drugs thing on Monday, and the guy showed brain scans of people who used various drugs, including pot. The kids got all rabble-y when he talked about pot. We have a teacher (a health teacher, mind you) who basically tells them that weed is great, it's a plant, so go for it.
Adults...eh, do what you want. Your brain and lungs are fully grown, anyway.

I have a friend who told H and I that he couldn't wait until his daughter was old enough to get high with. I am not sure at what age he thinks that will be a good idea, but it totally blew me away.
Now, don't get me wrong, I have smoked a lot of pot in my day but I will also openly admit that it led to a number of lost years in my life. I truly have no issues with weed itself, but I have way too many friends who started really young and it left them in states of complete arrested development.

Yikes! Seriously?
My UO for today... my in laws are having some very serious money issues, like bankruptcy due to some criminal charges. FIL wants to trade in a car he is upside down on and buy another car he can't afford because "now's a good time to do it." What? Really? Then he flat out admitted that it probably wasn't the smartest thing to do but they were doing it anyway because it is what they wanted. Ugh, no amount of talking to them about how little sense that makes is working. I love them both very much but geeze.

If they're having that much of a problem with money right now the bank will do all of the talking for you. I wouldn't worry.

The problem tho is that they do have money, so I really think the bank will at this moment approve things. The bankruptcy isn't because they can't pay their bills right now it's due to what they're going to owe when the civil part of this whole mess gets ruled on because there is something like 230k that they are going to owe.
Basically they are in a huge mess and they are still living like they aren't because FIL's income allows it. Why they aren't tightening down and preparing for the difficulties that are coming is beyond me.
I'm boring today so all I have is this UO today: it should be against some humanity law or something to have to be at work before the sun comes up. I mean some days, I never seen the daylight except through a window. Dark when I go I , dark when I get off. It's depressing. I hate winter also.
I am working from home today for exactly this reason. my text to my boss last night read, "tomorrow I'm going to work from home so I can sit in my sunny dining room, you know how to reach me"
I don't have any windows in my office, if I don't get outside of my department all day I don't even see the sun through the window. SAD is real.
My UO: I really dislike working from home. I mean, I like the idea of it, but I never get anything done and the whole time that I'm working from home I'm really just wanting to curl up in bed and watch TV instead of sitting at my desk.

I go back and forth. Some days I love working from home because I can work in comfy clothes and set me own schedule (or just follow the bump for the day) and sometimes I like going to a place to work. I have less distractions, people to talk too, and more focus when I get out of the house-sometimes.

Do you get to stay in your pajamas??? I'd be ok with a day of no sun but staying in pjs! My job requires "professional" attire. So dress pants and never open toe shoes! Blah envious of your work from home day!
No I wear professional attire to work, I can wear open toed shoes (but have a back-up of close toed shoes under my desk incase I have to visit a patient care area), it's the dead of winter now (-2 this morning) so I'm more of a dress boot and wool sock person right now. I coordinate research programs at an academic medical center, I occasionally (usually without warning) have to meet with patients, so I have to be dressed for that. all the other doctors, APRNs, administratiors, etc. dress nicely, same is expected of me, even if I don't leave my office. Today I'm still wearing my flannel PJs. I get a lot more done at home because I'm not constantly getting interrupted.

I work from home one day a week (Thursdays! In my pajamas as we speak!) so I get best of both worlds-- though admittedly I do much more laundry on Thursdays than actual work. I absolutely love having that one day, but I don't think I could do it full time.
I used to do it two days a week. And then I found that it was just too hard to transition back to a normal work attitude on the days that I wasn't home. But yea, I used to do a lot of housework on days I worked remotely. Mostly to keep myself from spending the whole day on the couch with Netflix on.

This is basically what my work does. I work from home on Mondays and come in the office the rest of the week. Also my work is dog friendly, so twice a week I bring one of my dogs (Lucy) in with me. The only day I can't bring her is Fridays, because we go out to eat and I can't leave her at work without me.
My UO is I hate hummus. I have tried many kinds, and they all taste awful to me.
I'm pretty sure you have that backwards Reg. Cats > dogs > horses. FTFY.
Nope, she's close, but it's actually horses = dogs > cats. Unless we are talking about funny internet memes and gifs, because then the cats totally win.
Still wrong! Horses=cats>dogs. Glad we have got this straightened out.
Maybe this is a UO, maybe not, but I actually like PB better, especially mobile. Fuck TB, I'm never going back!!
This. I always hated mobile bumping and for whatever reason it's a thousand times easier over here. Even last night when I was going over to bump threads or look at porn on parenting I couldn't believe how much more tedious it was to navigate over there.

I LOOOOVE working from home. I do it full time, because I live 3k miles away from my office. I had a massage at 11am, and had toast and red wine for lunch I could never go back to working in office.

I have a friend who's wife smoked weed throughout her entire pregnancy. It was really freaking hard not to judge her and there were many a times that I failed at that.
My UO is that I hate Dunkin Donuts with an undying passion. I find all their food disgusting and it tastes like chemicals.

I'm so jealous that you get to bring your dog to the office!! And so confused about your hatred towards hummus. Is it a texture thing or a flavor thing?
It is just a taste thing. The texture is not that bad to me.
