Hello lo95 there are people here all the way from Dayton to Kentucky. So all of our recommendations might not be helpful to you. What part of town are you in? Are you news to town? Pregnant with your first? Congrats!
Looking to move to Cincy. Not pregnant but looking for an OB who is great with L&D in case we go for #2.
Welcome to the board, and we hope if you make the move to Cincy, you love it here.
I used the Women's OB Center at Bethesda North Hospital, and you won't be seing a specific OB there, but all of them at the Center. It's not everyone's preference, but I loved it there, had excellent care, and not a complaint in the world.

sstwinklinglites,That's the hardest thing for me. I had one OB and adored him. I'm intimidated by multiple OBs. Did you feel like you knew them?

There were a few of them I saw multiple times, and I had preferences for who I liked more or less. However, they would walk into the room and knew everything that was going on with me, had looked over my chart, were prepared to discuss previous appointments, etc. I should mention, that the clinic is run my the OB Residents at the hospital, and of course, an attending is always there if a need arises.
Long story short, I moved to Cincy from FLA, got KU within a couple of weeks, was completely unprepared for it, since I had resigned my job in FLA to make the move, was unemployed, and thus, uninsured, and ACA was not yet in effect, so no one would insure me. They were still willing to take me on as a patient, and the hospital offered me a financial package to cover all my prenatal care, as well as labor, delivery, almost any other thing that was related to my pregnancy, and anything outside of normal pregnancy care, I was given an 85% discount. Honestly, it was more affordable than with my insurance. And it turns out, I loved my care and everyone I dealt with so much, I'm sticking with them, despite now having a job and good insurance, I see no reason to go with a traditional OB.

I'm about to be super helpful. /sarcasm/
The majority of OB's in greater Cincy area are part of larger practices. There are some that only have a handful of doc's, but many times they specialize in something specific, like VBAC's, and will only accept patients within that category.
mrscatfarmer13, Thanks for the heads up though. I'm spoiled. Current OB had just one partner and shared on call with a two-partner practice in town. It was so nice. Sigh... Do you like your current practice?

lo95 I'm in NKY, very close to Cincy. I go to Seven Hills Women's Health (formerly OB/GYN specialists of NKY)the office I use has 8-9 OB's, I met with all of them throughout my pregnancy and there was only 2 that I really didn't care for. I got really lucky and ended up delivering with my fav (3rd day in the hospital is a charm?). I'm happy with the practice as a whole. I really like that they have inhouse u/s vs. scheduling with the hospital and that they have an onsite lab person.

I love For Women's Inc. like sstwinklinglites, you have a primary but when you are KU you rotate through all docs just in case your doc is not on call. I loved all of them and my DH even wanted me to switch my primary lol
My practice only has one OB, one midwife, and one GYN. I see the GYN when I'm not pregnant and I really like her. I saw the midwife in early pregnancy and the OB towards the end and she was there for delivery. She was at the hospital all day when I delivered and was in and out of the room several times to check on me so I really liked that, since many people say the doctor only comes in to catch the baby after you've pushed for a while. They're located in Norwood and deliver at Christ Hospital - GYN is Cynthia Dellinger and OB is Melissa Heidi.

I used Mt Auburn Obgyn. They have offices in mt auburn @ Christ, Montgomery and mason. They deliver at Christ too. I believe there are 8 docs you rotate through seeing.
I think there are lots of great options in Cincy. But Step 1: figure out where you're going to live. Step 2: choose a hospital close by. Step 3: find a doc that delivers there.

+1 , but yea. Cincy is like 50 miles wide and deep, so you don't want to be driving 30 miles in labor.

Especially since if it happens to be raining when you deliver, those 30 miles are gonna take you 4 hours.
Or sunny. Don't forget the "sun delay" at the cut in the hill...
Lmao. Is that really a thing?
Yes. There's also a few spots on the top side of 275 when you're driving east in the morning that it almost blinds you. One time I forgot my sunglasses and had to follow the white line on the side of the road because I could barely see.
I can't believe a former FLA resident just asked if a sun delay is a real thing. You probably don't listen to morning traffic, but yes.
Yes, well, it's just a normal part of driving to us. Nobody ever calls it a sun delay. We just call it, it's sunny and there's traffic. Not, idiots, make sure you're wearing your sunglasses, or you'll make the traffic worse.

sstwinklinglites, hmm.. I remember hearing about sun delays whenever I visit my BFF in Tampa. Maybe it's a regional thing in FL. Any of our former FL residents care to chime in and settle this extremely important issue.

Maybe I've blocked it out or just forgot, but I don't remember a lot of talk of sun delays. But I was just a new driver in hs and I don't think I ever watched local news traffic reports in college.

Lol. My oneish hour drive to work everyday included the morning show, with traffic updated every 15 minutes. Likewise, on my two hour drive home in the afternoons. Never once did I ever hear mention of sun delay. This truly fascinates me. It's sun. Like seriously, it's there every single day
Just stumbling on this board, but I love the Tri-Health Northeast center for Women's Health. It's on Montgomery rd., there are 4 Doctors, and they deliver at Bethesda.

lindsay I love For Womens. You see all docs. My primary is Dr. Rinala but honestly they all are great. Dr.Clark is direct. The founder of the practice delivered and did an AMAZING c-section. I think mom2boxers goes there as well. I picked Good Sam for the nicu.
