Talk to me about 'perigestational hemorrhaging'.

I went in for my blood and ultrasound results: bloods are good (other than showing my iron deficiency is still roaring) and back at 1600 as of 4w5d from 145 at 3w5d. So that was a bit of a relief, until Dr. mentioned the scan showed a "Perigestational hemorrhage measuring 18x3x2mm adjacent to the gestational sac" which the ultrasound tech never mentioned during the scan. He said just to take it easy next week (wish they would have said something before I went to the gym and did weights today!) and I go back for a scan on the 7th which should put me at 6w2d. Any words of wisdom because I feel pretty bummed out right now?

I've always heard it called a subchorionic hematoma (sch). I think they're relatively common and usually resolve themselves but can cause some bleeding. A quick google search says it's not too big of a deal, just something to keep an eye on and it sounds like that's what your physician is doing. I'd just follow the advice of the docs and try not to dwell (easier said than done). I'm fresh out of wisdom but I can offer hugs.

It sounds like what your doctor is describing might be different from an SCH (I could be wrong). An SCH is a bleed behind the placenta. I wouldn't think that our placentas are that well formed yet. I had an SCH with my second. It was small but I spotted from weeks 8-14 and had lots of u/s to check it out. Usually, they are harmless and resolve themselves. Try to relax! I'll be thinking good thoughts for you!
