I don't believe that "my kids will be away from me soon enough" is a valid reason to not put them in preschool, i.e. you'll miss them. Dude. The preschool in question is 2 days a week, for 3 hours at a time. 6 hours a week. You neeeeeeeed your kids that much that you won't provide them socialization and instruction for 6 hrs a week?? (Sorry if that sounds harsh. I'm really not good at UO!)

People do that? How do kids learn to interact away from their parents if they are never away!!?
Antidote- I've had people from other countries ask what is up with American teens and why they are so dependent on their parents. Maybe this is part of the reason?
I just don't get it. The girl across the street has 4 kids (she's the one with the husband that tags everything #richestmanintheworld, you know, by virtue of their fertility) and they rarely leave their house. I get the logistical challenges of that, but she really, honestly, NEEDS to be with her kids all the time. No mother's day out, no date nights, no nothing. Even though I SAH too, I jumped at the chance to have my kids out and about, in activities and mother's day out and classes. But that's just how I roll. (shrug)
The protest in Boston today was a bit over the top.
It was ridiculous. I live south of the city and had a blood pressure check at my OB and S's 18 month well visit at 11 & 11:30am in the city. As soon as I heard about it I was rushing around to leave the house and took the back roads, which were also crazy backed up because of the highway shutdown. Not good for my BP!!! There has to be a better way to protest.
And did you see the pictures from the protest? They didn't just put barrels on the highway, they cemented their arms into them so they had to be cut out of the barrels in the middle of the highway. What a nutty way to protest, especially when the governor and police commissioner keep inviting people in to discuss what's going on and what needs to be improved - no one has taken them up on those meeting opportunities.
I do want to say that I totally support freedom of speech and the right to protest, but doing it in a way that can cause so much problems doesn't help your cause - you just end up looking like a jackass.
I experimentally copied and pasted into a Word doc-- it works but the lovetits cluttered it up. If I have time I'll see if I can throw something together?
