I'm not an expert but my daughter had some difficulties at the start (turned out to be silent reflux in the end but we did a bunch of elimination tests first) and I EBFd as well. I did the opposite - I cut out all dairy for 3 weeks and then slowly added it in. It was surprisingly difficult as dairy shows up in so many things I'd never considered (bread and snack food and dips) so I had to read labels really carefully. This isn't the site I used, but a quick google search will give you a lot of sites to use (http://www.godairyfree.org/food-and-grocery/food-label-info/hidden-dairy)
Of course you should listen to your doctor, but mine said just the opposite - to cut it all out entirely and then see what she tolerates. I ended up adding things in slowly in a specific order - I think it was yogurt then cheese then processed dairy then milk itself? I tried cutting out wheat as well but did that separately so I would be sure what the issue was if something changed.
@ke3812, I eliminated all dairy (read labels, websites like PP posted are helpful, and then someone pointed out that there's a kosher label for things without Dairy. People may be blah about food allergies, but people take religion seriously!) and then when that didn't work, we eliminated soy. For me, it wound up not working and we did switch to the formula but I know there are TONS of people who still EBF successfully. If EBF is important to you, I'd fight the doctor on the 2 week limit. (I hope you get this post in time!) It often takes 3-4 weeks to show improvement even with being super careful with the diet. Good luck!

Im new to this board, I have a 14 year old and 2 month old DD. I'm a SAHM and have a wonderful DH. Hopefully yall will have me! My 2 month old is currently having a little blood in her BM's and they go from yellow/seedy to deep green! I have talked to the pedi office and they want me to eliminate dairy. When I called back today they said that they wanted us to switch to formula if it didn't clear up in 2 weeks. We EBF and I really dont want to switch to formula. I dont know where to start. Do I just stop drinking milk and then go from there, cheese, butter etc. Does anyone else have experience with this? Any help would be appreciated.
Do you mind me asking what happened and how it's going?
my LO is just now 2 months. About a week ago he had green poop with a tiny bit of blood and then deep green poop the next day. I do eat dairy but have been eating a consistent amt with no problems so far.
I was thinking it could be due to eggs or onions which I hadn't really eaten until the day before that happened. Now today he's having yellow and mustard poop but the blood has returned. I'm hesitant to attribute it to dairy.
