Hi everyone!!!! I only really lurked for info on TB but would like to participate more. I have a DD and I EBF. It was ALOT of work in order to get the whole breastfeeding thing down. I used a nipple shield for the first three and a half months and stuggled to get rid of it. Now that it is not such a stuggle it is a lot more enjoyable. My biggest problem is milk blisters which I get quite often. Any tips for how to treat them is much appreciated

Are your milk blisters painful? I get them fairly often, but they aren't painful or anything. Or maybe I'm thinking more of milk blebs?
Either way, I think the best solution is taking a hot shower or using warm compresses on them and trying to drain them. But maybe I'm remembering wrong.
Welcome! I second the hot showers and warm compresses. I had a bleb once, which turned into a clogged duct. Ugh no fun! Sorry to hear you're getting them often.

They are pretty painful to the point I can't sleep if she feeds on them after they have been blistered. I sometimes have to pump for a day on that side until it heals. I am not sure if milk blister is the correct term. It looks like white on the end of my nipple. Now I am wondering if it is a blocked duct. How can you tell?

I'm not sure how to tell the difference. But PP mentioned her blebs/blisters have lead to a clogged duct. So I guess give the hot showers/compresses a shot and try to drain it? I'm sorry you are in pain! I hope you get some relief soon.
Mine looked like you described - a white spot on the the tip of my nipple. Before I got LOs latch corrected by seeing a lactation consultant, she used to give me a "lipstick" nipple and that led to the top part becoming chaffed/rubbed the wrong way. After a few days I noticed a lump on the same side of my breast as the blister/bleb, which I assumed was a clogged duct from the milk pore being blocked. I had to pump on that side for about a day before it got better. Lots of massaging too!
How is your LOs latch now that she's off the shield? If she's still doesn't have the best latch, that could be causing your blisters.

Sometimes she has a great latch and some days not so much. She is in the distracted nursing phase so I am always hesitant to pull her off. I was going to a support group with a lactation consultant but felt like most of the time went to the moms whose babies weren't gaining weight well. I have noticed the lumps too especially when I get engorged.
