My insurance won't even pay for a fucking pap smear if it was done by a RE, I swear. Absolutely zero on the IF coverage, as strictly as possible. :/
I'm in that boat too. And thanks for your help with my insurance questions last week. I called Cigna back and they told me that I'm in a "self funded" insurance plan (employer funded) so they are exempt from the CT laws and the employer has chosen to exclude anything IF/RE related. So even the office visit will be 100 % OOP for me. I can't believe an employer is allowed to do less than my state law requires! So frustrating.
I don't know if this would help you at all but Resolve.org has a Fact Sheet and Sample Letter for employees who would like to encourage their employer to offer IF coverage.
Many employers believe that providing IF coverage will increase their cost. So, providing them with information might help. Though it may not benefit you right away if they do decide to provide coverage.

OK, I have a question for anyone that has an ovary removed.
How long did it take for your period to return after removal?
I'm sure this varies, but for me it came back within a few weeks. It was a little while ago, so I don't remember the specifics but it was definitely less then 2 months.

Thank you for the response. Were your cycles "normal" after the removal? Did you have to have your hormone levels monitored to make sure the remaining ovary was indeed "picking up the slack"?
So after I got it removed and got my period they put me back on BCP cause they were afraid that I would get another cyst in the other ovary. I had gone off and then giant cyst, so back on I went (I wasn't TTC so it didn't really matter to me at the time). So yes they were "normal" cause the BCP, but that is no help to you so I'm sorry. I did not have hormone levels monitored, but I did have to go in on a pretty regular basis for ultrasounds to monitor any new cyst development for about a year after.
Question about the CB ovulation pee sticks with the smiley faces. If I don't get KU this cycle I was thinking of trying them instead of ordering more Wondfos - I will need to really pinpoint my surge for appointments with the RE and I find that the Wondfos can be hit and miss, even if I pee on multiple ones a day. I've definitely missed my surge many cycles. Are the smiley ones more reliable at all, or are they just more expensive?

They've confused a lot of people, with never ending blinking smilies and sometimes BAM! solid smilies that have ended up as either correct or a fake out. I like the stick tests (like Wondfo) better. If you want to try another brand, I had a lot of good experience with the generic Target brand OPKs. I found their lines to be easier to read than Wondfos.

I haven't found a difference in reliability. The first month I was TTC #1, I used both at the same time to see if the CB were worth the extra money. I got a smiley face at the same time I got a positive on the wondfo and it went away at the same time as well. So now I test with wondfos and then confirm with the CB OPK, just as a backup.

Anecdote:
I've used Regular CB digitals (pink), Advanced CB digitals (purple) and the CB Fertility Monitor. I would HIGHLY recommend sticking with the regular CB digitals. There is no blinking smiley face, which can be confusing and downright annoying. The regular digitals are either positive (smiley face) or not (empty circle). And I love that you use FMU and I don't have to bother with trying to pee on things at work.

Before Wondfos I used the ones that are either blank or a smiley face (is that the one you're talking about?) and they seemed to work just fine for me. I would stay away from the advanced ones with the blinky.

I used the advanced digitals (with blinking smiley) until we went to an RE. He told me to use the regular CB digitals because they're much more straightforward. Smiley face or blank circle. I found I liked that a lot better.
I think I have an extra box that I'm willing to send your way if you'd like! I should add that the box is still in the cellophane wrap. Never opened at all, if I'm remembering correctly.

So you use FMU for those? 2 questions: a) why and b) is that accurate? Especially since earlier in this thread we were talking about how SMU or afternoon is more accurate for regular OPKs?

I always used FMU until I saw my RE. Then he told me to use them every day between 11 and 2. Didn't seem to make a difference for me, personally.
Like was said previously, not sure by whom, but these measure things besides just your LH level, so the two-fold aspect makes FMU okay. The instructions actually specifically say to use FMU.
Edited: it was ghostmonkey, but she said that regarding the advanced digitals. Still, I think as long as you're consistent, it shouldn't matter. Your RE may give you specific timing instructions like mine did.

a) I just follow instructions! In the instructions for the Regular CB digitals, it says you can test any time of day. Just try to be consistent. In the instructions for the Advanced CB digitals, it specifically says to use FMU. The Fertility monitor is also FMU, but it works a little differently.
b) yes, it's accurate
(people often recommend using SMU with cheapie OPK's because the LH surge usually occurs in the afternoon. I suspect the digitals have a more accurate way of detecting LH than the cheapies)
I use wondfos and confirm with the regular CB digital opks. I have never had a problem getting a positive with FMU and the two tests always correlate. Somedays I am only able to test first thing in the morning and I've always been able to catch my surge.
If you do go to the RE before the one year for anovulatory cycles the first appointment will be getting medical history and depending on what cycle day you are on blood work and possibly an internal ultrasound.
Once you have a diagnosis and a treatment plan you can wait as long as you want to start treatment. I'm getting ready to start Clomid tomorrow after a two month wait following getting a treatment plan.
I have a newbie question - I'm having an allergic reaction to my folic acid. Has anyone else had this and used something else? Or had it and been ok with the PNVs? I don't really know what to do.

Was it the folic acid or something else in the pill?

I'm only taking folic acid pills, not PNVs, so just the folic acid.
I guess I'll look for a folic acid supplement that doesn't include those things, or some of them, and try it out! Thanks.
Just an anecdote, but calcium phosphate in pills makes me sick as all get out. I always puke from it. I have to be very careful to avoid vitamins with it. It may not be that, but just my two cents based on my personal experience.

+1 with the exception that FMU didn't work for me.

All three of the doctors/midwives I've seen in the last year have advocated food over pills. My midwives couldn't have cared less about PNVs if I was eating veggies. If you can stomach the plant sources (leafy greens raw, and green juice if necessary), go for that.

I have a question. I had a date with the vag cam yesterday and the RE said my left ovary was BEHIND my uterus almost to the midline. Is that a huge problem? He didn't seem concerned other than "That's unusual".

I think that is pretty normal for ovaries to shift position. During ER, my RE had to go through my ute to get to my left ovary.

I've never used the digitals; however, I did use the monitor and found it to be pretty accurate. I could see the lines on the stick darken then fade out, and it matched up with the monitor readings.

My right one liked to hide. Annoyed the shit out of my RE's nurse. Never in the same place twice.
