My UO, and this is really selfish: I really wish my parents could have just stayed together a couple of more years. They announced they were getting divorced the day after my wedding, and are still in proceedings because I have a brothers who are 11 & 13 and my mom wants full custody, and my dad, who originally only wanted 50% custody, has decided I she wants full custody, then does he, and both think I'm the best person to complain to. I just really don't need their drama.
Not to be a pain, but I think this is really a FFFC
The bolded is ridiculous. I can't believe they did that.
As for being in the middle, you are in control of your relationships with them to a large degree. So just be clear what you are willing to accept in terms of communication and stick with that. If they aren't willing to stop venting to you, step back until they are.
My family are kind of scattered across Europe, it was the first time they'd seen everybody in a couple of years, and would be the last time in a couple of years too, so yeah, they did. We weren't there, we were in the Caribbean.
There's one I saw recently, from a mom who went seriously overboard.
Mine is going to be Harry Potter and it is going to be fucking phenomenal. Gives zero fucks.
HP has never been my thing but I will admit that when I visited Universal's Harry Potter (land? world?) I totally caught the HP fever... it was incredible. I'm sure yours will be awesome and hope you pip it one day!
I could never be team green. I need to know so I can BUY AND KNIT ALL THE THINGS.
+1
And this is a definite FFTC: I'm half tempted to dress a he-beluga in pink things, and/or a she-beluga in blue things. Just because it'll confuse people, and because I hate the way gender roles are assigned based on color.
When DD was little almost anytime she was in blue someone would stop and ask if she was a "boy or girl" and then ask "why do you put her in blue?" She still gets called a boy... I mean, I she looks all girl to me... sorry that she has a totally awesome Star Wars shirt that she likes to wear.
I was also told once that using a paint sprayer was "so easy a woman could do it."
My UO is like @ismellbooks I basically want to tell nobody. I just want to pop out a baby in 9 months and be like... hey everyone here is (insert baby's name) because I don't want to deal with people. But then again... some days I want to tell everyone.

UO: I don't want to share anything about my pregnancy with my ILs. Like, if I could get away with it, I wouldn't tell them until this kid pops out. My MIL is going to cry, and want to hug me, and everyone's going to go crazy because this is is only the second grandkid, and my niece is 7.
+1000. MIL & FIL drive me bat sh*t crazy as it is and we already catch hell for living so far away with their only grandchild. DH's sister is out of child bearing years so no help there and MIL is over the top emotional about everything. If I hear about how DS will never know who they are one more time, I'm changing my name and moving to a foreign country (or the east coast .
Also, she knits everything and I want to give her as little time as possible to work those needles. Heaven help this LO if it's a girl because she already has a box of pink and frilly things from when we didn't know what sex DS was yet. Oy.

I'm sorry, it's hard to be stuck in the middle. My parents used to fight a lot and they would complain to me all the time. It really puts you in a difficult situation.
I am morning the loss of my sushi. Of course I wanted it right before I got the BFP and my hubby vetoed it. #stillpissed.
I bought margarita fixings right before I got mine. I don't drink much but every once in a while I like a margarita. Now it just mocks me when I open my cabinet.
