So I was all set to get a cake smash outfit for DS2 with diaper cover, bow tie and hat and DH laughed when I showed him the picture and said that it was "creepy". I guess it looks a little like Magic Mike...

Hahaha! Ok, it's a little funny. Maybe it would be less creepy with a white cheepy onesie under?

Probably I was planning to get a birthday onesie anyway and now I'm thinking that I should just get the birthday onesie and be done. I was having a hard time with the colors on the hat for the cake smash anyway (don't ask - long story involving using paint software to try and visualize different colors - first world problems!)
Talk me off the ledge; so I already got dd a cute dress with a tutu that says 'one' on it to wear at her bday party, and I got a lace romper with matching skirt for 1 year pictures. But then I'm also eyeing this:
I would just get the onsie and then buy an orange skirt. She could wear it on Halloween, but also for 1 year pics. Last year we did pumpkin themed newborn pics, so I thought it would be cute to do some pumpkin 1 year pics too. BUT - I already got the lace romper outfit for pics.
Is it crazy to have multiple outfit changes for 1 year pics??

She could have this one for her school birthday party.

Not crazy, we did 3 outfits for dd's 6 month pictures! Plus you gotta keep the pumpkin theme

Have you done multiple outfit changes recently? DS hates them, so I wouldn't bother because then he'd be all upset and red in the face for pics! If DD doesn't mind it, then I say go for it. Also, I like sweetsurprise's idea. I'm a total shopping enabler, though.

This is a good point. DS hates changing clothes. I always have to trick him into thinking we are playing a game or reading a book and then use my ninja mom skills. ...speaking of which. Paging @americaninjamommy! Thinking of you!
Dd doesn't do too bad with outfit changes. And if she does freak out she calms down quick. So, since you guys don't think I'm totally crazy, I'll be ahead and buy it!
I have not. I just realized we have 1 onesie the next size up. And one pair of fleece pajamas. So, I should probably go shopping? I need to find an outfit for him to wear for my friend's wedding at the end of September so I might double that up for pics. For cake smash, I'll probably make a onesie.

Not crazy as long as changing clothes won't make DD grumpy.

This makes me want a little girl! I'm planning doing a few outfits for 1 year photos but I'm also making it family photos

BBQ it is. H is on board. Now I need to order the stuff sitting in my etsy cart! I have been thinking about this for months and likely pull the trigger on it the week before. I need to avoid this! I am a true procrastinator
I'm thinking about either asking my inlaws if they would be willing to let us use their house for the party. It's bigger than ours and has more parking available. Plus if it rains we could keep everyone inside.
I might have mentioned it, but we are going to do a chili bar. I think I'll make 2 kinda of chili (one mild and one hotter), then lots of toppings.
That sounds awesome! We are providing a full lunch for everyone - DH wants to cater from the Italian restaurant near our house. We will probably get 3-4 types of pasta and provide salad as well.
DH is Vietnamese and the first birthday is a big deal in his culture. So we are going all out with decor, food, bounce house etc. It's the only birthday where we really make an effort - DS1's third birthday will probably be held at a trampoline park or something and we'll have pizza and cake.
