summergirl1211 I had no idea that kids this age could be obese, other than the occasional Maury guest. I would be upset, too! If you know your kid is healthy, active, and not eating fast food 5x/week, then you are doing great. I think docs are like, contractually obligated to say that shit. Riley is amazing and not fat...NOT FAT. Who the hell calls a 3 yr old fat?!
It's so ridiculous, like they are trying to get us to worry about our weight starting at age 1 now!
I'm pretty sure none of our kids are obese in any way. I've seen a few fatter kids in real life where we live now, and it's very obvious. All our kids to me are normal!
JA weighs 36.5 lbs and was 38" tall...nothing was said. The docs saying stuff are ridiculous.
My FC: My DH does more of the regular household stuff than me lately. He does dishes, laundry, bathrooms, changes the bed sheets and vacs/swiffers the floors. I tend to be the one that does the deeper cleaning like mopping, baseboards, refrigerator, stove, etc.; however, those are not done as often as he cleans.
FC #2: I keep forgetting to take my prenatal vitamins. I seriously hope I don't mess this baby up. I swear my brain has stopped remembering anything lately. Even with a reminder, I forget what I'm doing or get distracted on my way to the kitchen!
summergirl1211 Tommy is 37inches and 37lbs I got a mention of "good food choices". He's always been exactly the same. The doctor even said "he's just a solid kid." I don't think my kid is anywhere near obese. Riley is not either.
Dylan is 36 pounds 37 inches and his doc described him as the definition of husky. Ha!
summergirl1211 BMI is just a number that really needs a context to have any meaning. I don't think it's appropriate to use for a 3 year old, especially when only height and weight are being considered. You keep doing you, mama! Riley is perfect.
MissMusic, when is your due date? Still so happy for you! And I craved Chinese food very early on..now it is Mexican for the chips and salsa and cheese dip.

April 5 here, but I go for my dating u/s in a couple of weeks. Thank you! DH just said the burrito place is closed, so I'm sad. I guess I will eat the lasagne then! I don't want to eat like a pig though; I want to eat healthy. So far I am failing big time.
I just sent DH out for burritos and lasagne. Is it too early for cravings, because this is weird. And unhealthy.
Oh well, give me food!
The first couple weeks of this pregnancy all I was interested in was Mexican food. Breakfast burritos, tacos, regular burritos. It's passed now, but it's still good when I eat it.
summergirl1211 Does your pedi have eyes? Because Riley is perfect. My 5'5, size 4 friend doesn't have a "healthy weight" bmi simply because of genetics and bone density. Your doc must be crazy if that's the only number he/she is looking at.
I've stopped wearing pants to sleep. The FC part of this is that I remember how mightybee and I bonded over hating having our legs touch when we sleep, so every night I get into bed pantless and think of her and feel a little guilty.

I think of you when my thighs touch at night too sarasansh. We'll forever be bonded by our mutual discomfort. Haha!
When I wear shorts to sleep in the summer I like to straddle the sheet so to speak. One leg under it and one leg on top=lightweight separation of thighs.
summergirl1211, late to this. I've seen little miss in person and I certainly don't think she has any weight issues and seems the perfect version of a healthy weight. I understand being sensitive about what these doctors say though, I am too. I think it comes from a lifetime of thinking about my own weight too. I don't want it to start this early with our girls. Riley is beautiful exactly how she is.
My sister has 6 kids - all currently at "healthy" BMI ranges, except 1. He is 2 and weighs 35 pounds. He eats no differently than any of his siblings. And they mentioned something to her at his 6 month appointment at which point he had been exclusively breastfed. Some doctors are d bags.

summergirl1211, Hugs. Riley is far from overweight. I agree with laurski81, the whole BMI is overrated and way over blown. Yes, it is a good gauge but everyone is built differently and it is not an exact science. Your body type (bone density, frame in general, muscle mass) has a lot to do with your weight. I always take that with a grain of salt.

MissMusic holy shit, I totally missed your announcement (or I'm spacing big time)! Congrats lady! I'm so happy and excited for you that I can hardly stand it!
When we paid for the zoo on Saturday I told them that Hanna was 2 so she would be free. Her ticket would have been $20 since I got the ones that included the ski lifts, trains, etc. And we rode those too!
We went to the zoo on Friday and I said both my girls were under 3. Our zoo has a lot less animals these days and I wasn't about to pay for them (normally we get free passes from the library). Both girls were in the double stroller with the sun shades up so the girl couldn't see how big they really are.
