Who else is getting hit? I'm in NJ and I'm hearing everything from 10 inches to 24+. No idea what to expect. But we're supposed to move Friday and there are already issues with the closing and the move, waiting on paperwork and I'm worried the storm will close office that will push everything back. I'm also supposed to be off all next week and have so much to squeeze in this week and that's going to get screwed up too.
I usually love snow but the timing on this one is not good! Oh and I forgot to buy the kids snow boots and we already packed their snow suits! Lol
What's everyone's predictions? Any fun plans for being snowed in?

Wow, @acesup. I am going to ship you all my extra mojo for your move! I'd be nervous too, and I hope it all goes well. We are just on the edge of the storm (OH) so we got a couple of inches last night but I don't think it will cause any major problems.
Maybe you can bring a big rubbermaid bin of snow inside and lets the kids play with it in the bathtub/on a tile floor or something? Make mini snowmen on cookie sheets or towels? (I'm thinking of the lack of snow gear
Lol yeah panic has ensued around here. I mean, it's jersey - we get snow every year and this is not our first rodeo with a blizzard but there is still chaos. Schools called early dismissals and closing before the snow even started, the stores yesterday were insane from what I heard. People act like we will be snowed in for weeks. It will be a day or two at most lol

I'm in MD (Annapolis area) and it's been snowing lightly but nothing is sticking to the pavement. I'm not expecting much more than this. I'm pretty sure this beast of a storm will not be impacting us as much as it will the northeast. Good luck and be safe!

I left New Jersey and came to Boston to visit my family for the week. DH is back in Jersey and I'm going to be pissed if after all this I end up snowed in here while he's home down there. The whole reason I came here was so I could hang out with my sister during the day because I was already bored being home all day with a newborn and three year old. And yes, even though DH is military, he totally gets snow days. On the bright side, hopefully my mom will be home with us the next couple of days so I can sleep in.
Boston here...the snow is supposed to start tonight around 7ish? And end early Wed AM (like, 2am early). They're talking 3 feet in my area!! I'm excited.
I'm in ME and expecting 18-24 inches. H is already planning on staying home from work and I'm figuring out what my office's winter weather policy is since this is the first big storm since I've worked here.
I'd like to stay home and do nothing but I think I might end up having to WFH at least a little.
They are trying to ban saving your street spot around here with things like beach chairs and traffic cones (That people painstakingly shovel out just to have stolen by someone else). That's going to go over like a ton of bricks.
We are are going to get the fringe, about 1-3 inches. I can't imagine if major cities get something like two feet of snow. Where the hell would they put it?
They just pile it on top of itself, and it takes weeks to melt if the temps stay cold. The worst is trying to navigate intersections when there's a wall of snow blocking your view to see if anything's coming.

The mayor here (Boston) put a statement out saying they already have snow farms (whatever the hell those are) set up to take the snow.

Yeah that never works. And then inevitably fights break out because someone moved someone else's space saver. Sucks that people can't just not be assholes and not take a spot that someone else cleaned out. I witnessed many of fights growing up because of this. Thankfully my parents have a driveway now because ain't nobody got time to be fighting with someone over a parking spot.
I am in the Philly area so they cant decide what we are getting until it is already over. Some say only about 4 inches, some say 18-24. It depends on how fast it moves yada yada yada...
They are predicting 24-36 inches here (NY). I doubt we will get that much. It's the 50-60mph wind that I'm worried about. Its supposed to start around 1. Schools are already closed.
I've actually never prepared for a storm before....but I did this time. Like everyone else is saying, the mountains of snow is 1 thing, but the length of time its going to snow is unusual (30 hours or so), plus the crazy winds sustained at 50+MPH with gusts up to 80 are what concerns me. Stocked up on milk, water and batteries last night. I'd be one of the first to go in a zombie apocolypse
1/3 of the staff at my office have already told their managers that they won't be in tomorrow. I don't think they close down the office unless there is a state of emergency issued by the Governor I'm hoping I don't have to use all of my PTO for this stupid storm.
I was so disappointed there was no snow on the ground this morning. I really could have used the snow day. We're supposed to get 3-6 inches overnight, though so I guess I'll get one tomorrow.
