No opinion on the baby bucket thing but I hated having a baby bathtub with my first and opted for the giant baby sponge with my second and I love that cheap thing. We cut a small hole at the top and put a rope there so at the end of a bath I just wring it out and hang in on the tub wall on a little suction cup hook.

Thanks for linking that! It looks awesome. I may just go that route. I hate spending money on things that are only used for a short while.

We have tried the normal baby tubs with DD so stupid. Finally ended up getting a a little inclined mesh seat that sits in the bottom of the bath tub and that was great! No more cold babies! Then with DS we were gifted a PUJ that thing was so big and stupid I finally found another mesh inclined seat for the tub and did that. Once they can sit up there really isn't a need for anything extra in the bath tub. You are right there the whole time anyways and the water shouldn't be very deep. So really there isn't much need for extra things.
We tried three different tubs until I found the Leachco bath pillow and I LOVE it. LO is 10 weeks and loves her bath now. No slippery, cold, hard plastic that would make her startle. I got it on clearance on target.com for $17 but they sell them on Amazon and target for around $30. Just ring out and hang to prevent mold, maybe wash every so often.
