Is 35 too young to start menopause? I do have the paraguard and that has changed things dramatically for me in the sense that my periods are complete hell now. But I'm starting to lose sleep and basically out of commission while pmsing. I feel it's more than just bad periods. I'm due for my annual anyway, just wanted to see what you guys say.

shanadoo, I am 36 and I have worried about this myself. I went from around 35 day cycles to upwards to 52 in the last year and a half. This went on for several months and lately have been back to around 35 days but my pms is fucking nuts. I already deal with anxiety and depression but pms makes me feel like I am going crazy. My periods have gotten heavier as hell too. I've always been a heavy bleeder but this is fucking nuts. I am so glad I do not work when on CD 2&3 b/c no just no. It runs in my mom's family for early perimenopause. My grandma had kids at 39 & 40 b/c the dr said she couldn't bc she had started the change. Um nope. Good thing as my mom was the last one and I'm kinda glad she's here lol. My mom started perimenopause at around 41ish. You could be going through this b/c of your paraguard. Couldn't hurt to contact your ob/gyn. I need to do so myself but need to see the eye dr and my pcp as well so ugh not enough fucking money.
I totally hear ya but it's a longer process when it starts early. My mom was in perimenopause for like 15 or so years. But cessation of periods, yes please! Have you had any other symptoms?

Extreme fatigue, night sweats and absolutely no sex drive at all.
I have nothing helpful to add. I noticed this last period I got that I had noticeable pms for over a week before I started which is totally not normal for me.

It could be age related. Sorry about the night sweats shanadoo. I don't get those but I do get the sore boobs and some of the other stuff plus really bad pms and periods. Like not dressed out of commision a few days periods. I need to see my dr. Hopefully yours can help you. Maybe you need to switch out the paraguard or something. How long do those stay good for? I know it's non hormonal right?

Oh, yes since DD my sex drive hasn't been the same. She's almost 4! Now that my cycles have gotten back to around my norm I do get more interested in sex around probable O time but for awhile I wonder if I wasn't O'ing. I should temp but need the bbt. B/c I want a 2nd but not sure I can even do so kwim.
shanadoo, I am sorry your body is being different. I hate when that happens. I hope your pms goes back to normal soon for you or your dr can help.
Ok well Paragard was absolute hell for me....to the point that my MW suspects I may have had mild copper toxicity from it. I had zero sex drive (but, to be fair, I was also breastfeeding), painful intercourse, horrific PMS, ridiculous mid-cycle spotting and cramping, horrific periods, depression, insomnia...it was just awful. Within a few weeks of having Paragard removed, those symptoms were gone. I was still BFing but suddenly I had a sex drive again. I actually liked my husband again and wanted to have sex rather than just being annoyed by his propositions. My depression improved drastically, I started sleeping again, I felt like I had more stamina for exercise.....it was drastic. Obv everyone's experience is different and I will admit that my body reacts strongly to any kind of birth control (e.g. BCP) but, for me, the copper IUD was a really, really, really bad choice.

I also suspect the paraguard just isn't right for me.
I'm a researcher and deal with large observational studies (where reproductive health is a part). It is not common for women to enter menopause early, but I can tell you that there are women who have reported entering menopause in their early to mid thirties.
So does being a late bloomer matter? I was a late bloomer. Well, compared to my friends I was.
I've been told the opposite. I've had OBs tell me that, since I didn't enter puberty until a later age that my eggs would "last" longer and perimenopause would likely happen later. I don't have anecdotal evidence though since my mother started puberty late like me, but then had a hysterectomy due to ovarian cancer
sanremo, what symptoms did you have? Sorry that happened so soon for you.
I got hot flashes a little but my symptoms were more difficult to detect but I had being seeing an RE. My fsh shot through the roof to the mid 70's on a 3 day blood draw. My estradiol levels also starting going wonky. I also started to be a little more tired and I gained a little bit of weight. If I had not been having continuous blood work I never would have paid attention to the changes.
