I'm happy to report yesterday was my first time alone with 2 kids (DH was working and my mom left Tuesday). Everyone survived. DS1 even pooped on the potty and let me cut his fingernails. But DS2 ended projectile vomitting on my about 30 minutes before I was going to bed.
My parents and sister are coming this weekend and have been planning this trip for weeks. H's dad calls this morning to let us know he wants to come for the weekend to meet the baby since he couldn't be bothered to come when he was born or even send flowers or anything. I told my mom that they should still come since we had all been looking forward to it. FIL has to learn that people aren't going to rearrange their plans because he decides things are convenient for him. And he might be bringing his wife who is the woman he cheated on H's mom with causing their divorce which was ugly.
What do your kids call their step-grandparents? I don't really want O calling her grandma or anything like that because of how ugly the situation is and our relationship with her and that part of the family.

I have a step grandma and I call her Grandma Joan, I think it's up to you though. You could call her grandma so-and-so or just call them Grandpa and Joan. She might be hurt by it. But it's you prerogative. She will get over it. I would just say think about how you will explain to your child why you don't call grandpa's wife grandma. It could be awkward.

H has amazing relationships with both his step-dad and step-mom so our situation is a little different. DD1 calls step-grandpa "paca" (we've got no idea where in the world she came up with that, just started it one day) and step-grandma "lala" (That's what H called her when she first married his dad since he couldn't say Helen).
ampaints that is not okay. I'd have another talk with him ASAP. I don't know why, but it is like sometimes they can't figure out for themselves what needs done around the house our with the baby until they've been told a few times. I just want to smack DH sometimes, like dude do you not see the pile of dirty dishes/cat box/dirty floors/trash is full? Two weeks in a row he has missed the trash truck because I wasn't up to remind him it was trash day and to pull the carts out.
Everyone sleeping, please share. I'm only asking for like 10 spare minutes from each of you.
joi922 not cool!! I'm the one scared of spiders in my house! If I ever found out DH wasn't killing them I would lose it!! Lol
@piedpiper07 I'm so sorry he is acting that way. I wish I had some advice, but I really don't. If I were you though, I would go without him. This should be about your grandpa not him so leave him at home.
shannonabigail, H Step dad will be Papa Jeff. We both like Jeff, and he is a wonderful person. Now if FIL is stupid enough to marry his imported whore, then we will not be calling her anything. She had nothing to do with MIL-FIL divorce, but she is just a trashy person and my sone won't be around her, so there will be no need to call her anything.
elvenqueen, As a Science Teacher I'm offended by what you wrote. Now, I don't know the entire situation, but the teachers may not have been trying to guilt her into anything. I know that if I had a student who I felt was gifted or had an aptitude for science I would ask why they weren't taking a science class and probably suggest one that I thought would interest the student. Not everything boils down to test scores.
I am calling an exterminator this morning. We've gotten rid of fleas in the apartment 5 times this summer with borax, diatomaceous earth, etc. The cats have been treated with either Frontline plus or advantage every 30 days without fail & capstar as well many times. We had a professional inspection before E was born & we were flea-free. But the grounds at this complex are infested & it's disgusting. Every time I walk outside, there are at least 3-5 fleas on my feet/ankles. The manager says they won't treat the grounds since not everyone treats their animals... um ok. Well I have a 3 week old who I'm not going to let be eaten by fleas. I found 2 on our bed last night. We washed everything in hot water & vacuumed/steamed everything. So today I'm calling an exterminator bc they have a 90-day warranty & all fleas will be dead for the winter by the time it expires.
I HATE FLEAS! especially in the South.
I have been fighting fleas here, too. We have bombed the house, treated the dogs, treated the yars, and still they are here. My neighbor is a sweet little old lady who feeds 35 stray cats and I'm sure not a single one is fixed or treated for fleas. I honestly think that is why we can't get rid of them.
I've moved into our new house which is down the road from the in laws. She already tried to stop in unannounced but luckily I was out. I told her next time to call. I don't want to set an open door precidense.
I'm jealous of everyone's good sleepers. Elaine wakes up at 3:30 and goes in and out of sleep and fussiness until morning. Are people who have 2 long stretches at night putting their kids on a schedule? Are they still sleeping in your room? Will you share some of your magic?
Luck and time is all that helps lol. Henry actually did the same thing when he shared a room with us. Slept 10-2 and then would be restless the rest of the night. That is a major reason we moved his rock n play to his nursery. He now sleeps there and most nights sleeps good until the morning, obviously waking to eat a few times but goes back to sleep soundly. He's 5 weeks and started sleeping better maybe 10 days ago.
So I called 10+ exterminators. No one will treat apartment units in TX. I don't know what the hell we are supposed to do. I cannot let my newborn be eaten alive by fleas bc this asshole complex wont fix the problem.
My child went a full 6 hours without nursing. Too bad she was awake just screaming sporadically for most of that time so I couldn't sleep. She'd drift off for about 10 min, I put her down, I go lay down, then 15 min later start screaming again. Rinse and repeat for 3 hours. Then she decided to projectile vomit all over me, in my hair, in my mouth- it was like a scene out of the exorcist. Because washing milk puke out of my hair at 4 am is fuuuuun. Zzzzz.

jgesi I can't decide if that sounds like reflux or not. Was it in conjunction with a recent feeding? The back arching and screaming sounds like it, as does the spit up, but I'm wondering if maybe baby just coughed up a little, being on its back, and started coughing because of that. How long do you wait to lay them down after feedings?
Amelia's reflux started with her coughing and choking during feedings. She would only spit up if we laid her down too soon after eating. She would arch, scream, pull away from the nipple, sound like she was drowning, and generally was miserable during the feeding. Hope that helps.

Amelia passed her occupational therapy and feeding appointments this morning! They are super impressed that she's on a level 1 nipple already and they were also horrified when I asked them about our experience at the other hospital over the weekend. Like, mouths dropped open.
Pediatric neurologist appointment coming up, and then it is NAP TIME. Amelia can take one too, if she wants. Lol.
I might kill my H today. He wasn't paying attention this morning and got water all over the bathroom floor which leaked down to the next floor and on my work desk; ruining all my notes for work. Ugh!!
I'll start off by saying that I plan on seeing my primary care physician. I just wanted to see if any of you lovely ladies have any idea about this.
Starting about 2 weeks before M was born, I have just randomly started breaking out in hives. Mostly on my legs and sometimes my arms. I haven't changed any laundry detergents, fabric softeners, lotions, etc. I haven't taken any new meds or eaten any new foods. I can't for the life of me figure out what is causing them.

Call the city inspector. Seriously it's the only way my friend got results with her complex. Now they're dealing with roaches from an empty apartment below them that wasn't cleaned properly and she had to call again because they refused to bomb her apt. The inspector fined them and it's getting bombed this week.
Step-daughter just had her first day of college (British equivalent to Grade 11/12) and already had teachers guilting her about her choice of subjects. She's a very gifted artist (I can't emphasis that enough), but because she had As across all her subjects last year, they've tried to apply a bit of pressure for her to switch to more academic subjects. So they can take credit for some fantastic Science exam marks out of her at the end of the year, no doubt.
Why do people think it's okay to A) undermine someone's parenting and B) assume that a parent cannot be happy with a child pursuing art?
Well guess what fuckfaces -- both her parents were teachers and have Art Degrees. You've met your match.

I took piano and dance lessons for years and wanted to go to school for dance and music performance. I got pushed into higher math and science classes starting sophomore year in high school bc of my grades and "cultural background." i.e. since I'm Asian (racist bastards), I should be in a math or science related major. Due to my parents pushing me to go into engineering as well, as they felt I wouldn't have/find a good job and make enough in liberal arts, I did. Now? I wish I had majored in dance and done what I wanted. I didn't even get an engineering job due to the economy for 4 years post graduation so their points were moot. MOOT.

My neurologist appointment was today- it was in a huge hospital that I've never been to before with parking in a far away structure, quite interesting maneuvering that with Jack by myself. When we finally got up to the office, we were in the tiny waiting room and J grunty, squirty pooped for what seemed like forever. Loud. And he wanted a bottle as I was filling out my paperwork, so I fed him in the stroller with my left hand, and wrote with my right. But we made it work! MRI scheduled for Saturday so H can watch J. He thinks it's migraines, but the MRI will rule out anything else. He prescribed Tylenol 3s for the pain, they make me feel yuck.

PUPPP? I think I suggested that as a possibility in an insomnia thread a while ago but idk if you saw it. I think it can continue post-partum.
I'm enrolling my 2 year old in gymnastics today... Hopefully.... Need to find a babysitter for the baby during classes since it's a mom/tot class. I also want to put DD1 in swimming lessons again but same problem, need a sitter. Hopefully this works out, I think DD1 needs some one on one mommy time, and getting out of the house twice a week to do fun stuff with her would be awesome!
Have you asked the class teacher if it possible to wear baby during the class?
Turns out I can't find a bunch of paperwork. And Dh swears he hasn't seen anything. Of course he never remembers doing anything :/ dude, I had a whole bunch of paperwork in a bag from the dmv and hospital and it's gone. I didn't touch it so that leaves you.
I'm just going to have to pay the $11 for the id and wait on the license. Which means another month of the car that we've already paid for not in my name. I'm pissed. Why does he have to touch my stuff?!

I finally talked to the manager again. She said they sprayed outside on Monday so basically all of the fleas have gone inside the apartments to escape the pesticides. She said she'll send someone "sometime next week" to do the inside. Ugh.
I just pulled a mouthful of cat fur out of E's mouth. That cat fur was still attached to the cat. She actually tried to latch on his back as he decided to sleep next to her on the couch during her nap, and she wriggled right up against him. The girl is indeed feral.
I never thought I'd be quoting myself, but I just can't get over how ridiculous this was. As per above, photographic evidence of my feral daughter attempting to latch on the cat. I wonder if I should tell her he does have actually nipples to make her attempts look slightly less ridiculous.

She only gets to study 4 subjects so it's not like North American high schools where she'd be able to do both. It'd be Science or Art, a choice between the two. And they actually told her she was closing doors to her future by not studying academic subjects. Not once was she asked what her ambitions were. That is a failing in my eyes.

Maybe in the meantime get some mosquito netting and stretch it over her crib? Ugh. We have fleas but they're not bad yet so far (knock on wood). Our place is pretty good about spraying every few months.

not yet, but I'd really like it to be just DD1 and me time. I'm thinking she's starting to get a little jealous of the baby. :/
Piper Lilly-lee - Born Sept 11, 2013 New Tiny Human - Due Aug 7, 2015 August 2015 - July Siggy Challenge - After Pregnancy Plans It will start like this: And end like this!

The day I cane home from the hospital I ended up with huge raised red bumps on my legs that were really itchy. I have sensitive skin and already use fee and clear everything. I asked my doctor about it and she said a lot of women get rashes during or right after pregnancy thanks to the hormone fluctuations. Since I had been talking myself into thinking the hospital had bed bugs, that made me feel a little better. I had to really work not to itch them, but now at almost 4 weeks PP they're pretty much gone. Hope yours get better soon! FWIW, even if you didn't change your soaps, you may be more sensitive to them right now. Might be worth switching to free and clear detergent and a gentler soap if you don't already use them, just to see if it helps.

I was leaning towards just a hormone related thing. Before M was born, I'd joke to my H that I was allergic to being pregnant still. I have been like a week with out any hives and then the last two days they are back.
