DH was being a big asshole this morning and now I'm in a pissy mood. Today's day 2 at my new job and the guy who is supposed to train me keeps blowing me off. I've been sitting here for over an hour doing nothing.
Does he gave a legit work related reason for blowing you off or is he just being an unprofessional ass? Either way, I'm sorry you are just hanging around wasting your time. I would be supremely irritated.
He's just being an ass as far as I can tell. I know the technical aspect of this job, and really need to understand the internal procedures of how to get shit accomplished. He keeps saying oh I'll be right back and when he comes back it turns out he did something work related. I've said twice, oh I can come with you so I can learn the layout of the building, and he's like oh no I will be real quick. Then he's gone for 25 minutes.

Oh yeah, he's being an idiot. Sounds like there is no reason to keep leaving you behind and in fact, you could really benefit from tagging along. Oh well, I'm glad you have the time to be hanging out here!
We didn't even get enough snow to fully cover the grass. Booooo! School's closed, but I'm at work. I only get 10 days of paid leave per year so I'm rationing.
PTO is like... my single largest annoyance throughout the year. And it will be prorated down because I'm going to be out for 3 months... i'm already stressing how I'm going to handle the inevitable onslaught of baby sick days once I go back from maternity leave.
This is such a stressor for me. I start the year trying to hoard my sick days because I know what's coming.
Thanks ladies! I will most likely avoid her as much as possible. If/when she hears I am working as the budget analyst she'll know I know as I will oversee her grant. I know she was looking for an excuse to let me go, our personalities did not mesh well. She is high maintenance and prone to stressing over the littlest things and micro managing. Where as I am pretty laidback. This is also the boss who took me in her office and told me I needed to look more professional and style my hair and wear make-up.
I mean, that sucks, and she's lacking a bit of tact. But I can see where she's coming from. I'm guessing that you'll encounter more people like her in the business world as you move along. Some people micromanage. And you, as an employee, have to adapt to your boss's style more than they need to capitulate to yours.
The rule I was always taught: Dress more like your boss and less like your coworkers
I have never had cinnamon rolls and chili before...we always do cornbread/onions/sour cream. It sounds interesting, might have to do it next time. Cinnamon rolls are never a bad thing.
I've gained 4 pounds in a week, even though I stayed on track with my diet and had 1200-1500 calories daily plus I did the p90x workouts every day. WTF BODY.
This happened to me last weekend. I think it's water retention. I have been staying under calories according to my fit bit and then running a ridic amount. There is no way it's 4 actual pounds.
I make fun of him about this all the time. He has some total old person eating preferences. Sometimes he will drink a glass of V-8 before dinner. Vomcity.
I see we married the same man. When H makes juice he always puts a ton of celery in it. Doesn't matter if he was making orange-pineapple. He still throws a shit ton of celery in. Gross.
Hai. Snowing here. Still. Will be all day. But looks like the temp stayed low so it's all going to be fluff which means there's less of a chance of me getting called into work today.
Hope everyone else in the area is having a nice snow day.
I used all my sick days last year and my fucking boss put that on my performance review. Wtf? I had surgery, and my kid had two surgeries. So...
Ohhh that would piss me off. Here are your 'benefits' but don't dare use them all. And what is a more legit reason than surgery? The only way that would be acceptable would be an in-person acknowledgment like, "Hey, you accomplished all your work despite having to use all your sick days for perfectly legitimate health issues!"

If you are given X number of sick days and only used X... your boss is an ass. But even if you went over X and dipped into FMLA... (s)he's still an ass. It's none of his/her business what you use the sick days for.
Exactly! If you don't want me to use them, don't give them to me.
I was just having a chat with my boss about sick days. You are given sick days, you can use them. What your boss might have a right to remark on is if you were cheating the system. Like some of my coworkers will feel a little chill and "work from home" in order to be able to avoid charging their sick time.

bearfootz I think the Tom Petty / Sam Smith thing is ridiculous. If you're not blatantly ripping off a song, it's part of the beauty of music to be inspired by and sample / borrow progressions from other musicians and genres.
When my H was trying to teach me guitar (that did not end well), he pretty much started with: "Here are the handful of chord progressions you need to know to copy almost any song from the major musical genres."
So, I applied for a job a while back at another company and a month later got the rejection email that there were more qualified candidates, blah blah blah. That's fine. But now the same job is posted again a month later. Does that mean they never found anyone but for sure don't want me...or that maybe the person they found didn't work out? Debating if it's worth taking the time to apply again.
Really, you guys wouldn't say "so, I'm confused on what happened here?"
Huh. I don't care to be lied to. Confronting doesn't mean cussing out, but just because I'm an employee doesn't mean I have to just take everything.
no, I wouldn't. IME, employees are never told the truth for their firings because it would be an HR violation 99% of the time. So the employee is told some sort of lie.
I wouldn't want to be treated like shit by a terrorist boss, but that's not how I'm reading this. It's normal. Not everything is a battle worth fighting. This certainly isn't. Your reputation matters a whole lot more than the feeling of pinning a boss down for answers.

We don't get PTO or sick days, only our vacation time. I've got 15 days & took one Friday to help my mom with my grandma....then DD2 woke up with a fever Monday & the dr has her out of school till Thursday (strep), so my 1 day of vacation has turned into 4 & now I'm down to only 11 left & its still January. I am irrationally pissed about it.

Could it be possible they need multiple people for the same or similar positions? That happens in my office a lot. If it really interests you, I would say go for it. You never know!
I know Larry happened. Please do not try to convince me otherwise. Please don't talk to me about coffee. I don't drink it. I don't caffeine. When I state my opinion, that is me chiming in on a topic. This is not me saying you suck at life if you do or feel differently. If I want to say that, I will. If I want to speak on you, I will.
