I feel like the only grievance she should state is simply negligence by the sperm bank (as the judge suggested they do). They ordered a specific sperm sample and were inseminated with a different one. That isn't okay and definitely is a big mix-up that the bank should be penalized for.
That being said, everything this mother says rubs me entirely the wrong way. Step the fuck up and deal with the circumstances instead of blaming everyone else for everything you are going through now as the parent of a child who looks different than your homogenized white sub-culture. Let's assume the child was conceived through the chosen sperm sample and was born with a port-wine stain on her face - how will you deal with your "daughter growing up to like an “outcast,” (their words, not mine). What if they discovered later on that their daughter has autism? What if that required them to go to a special salon or even have someone privately come to cut her hair because of possible sensory overload in an average salon? What if they had to deal with judgey people when their child was overwhelmed at the grocery store and has a melt-down?
All I'm trying to say is that ALL of these grievances are sometimes just normal parenting challenges. You have a beautiful healthy daughter (as far as I can tell from the article anyway) and while you are allowed to be dismayed and frustrated by the lack of care the sperm bank put into your case you're approaching the case in the wrong way entirely.
I hope I'm not digging myself into a hole here. Let me know if I said something wrong.
