Hi. Just a little history for you all..
DH and myself are 29, from the lovely state of Georgia. We have one daughter, she's 20 months in the next couple of days.
I'm a high risk pregnancy starting day one. My last pregnancy was a nightmare! At 8 weeks I was diagnosed with thyroid cancer. It was not treated until after my daughters birth. I was out of work on moderate bed rest at 12 weeks due to high bp and weak/dizzy spells. I was not allowed to drive. Fast forward and at 26 we found out baby had an intestinal defect that required surgery after birth and I had polyhydramnios which only got worse as time went on. (That was found on Labor Day weekend actually.) So even on meds to control my blood pressure, it started acting crazy in my 3rd tri and I went to labor and delivery multiple times with it like 170+/100~ and finally at my nst when I was 34 weeks after I had just left the hospital 2 days prior and the wouldn't keep me my perinatologist said my numbers from that visit looked crazy and she didn't know why the didn't admit me. She also said baby was measuring only 32 weeks so they were concerned about IUGR (intrauterine growth restriction) so she called and had the hospital get a room ready for me. She wanted a 24hr. They also planned an amnioreduction since my levels of waters were so high I was in pain and having a hard time breathing. So at 34+1 they did the reduction at 8am. Then around noon said we'd be going home of the urine results came back ok..they let me have lunch. Then I finally was allowed to get out of bed for the first time in 24 hours and when I came back to get hooked back up to my monitors they couldn't find her heart rate for several minutes and then it finally blipped back but stayed between 49-80 bpm. So I was rushed off within seconds for an emergency section...under GA. No one present but the hospital staff, not even me. It was everything I didn't want...but baby made it here..thank God for fast working doctors and a well prepared staff! While I was in recovery they did tell me my 24 hr results came back and I was moderate preeclampsia too..20 pts from being severe.
So this time I just want a better experience. I really really really want to vbac if I go to term with less or no complications.
I'm very nervous going into this pregnancy since my lack of thyroid means even more extra monitoring. I'm also hoping this time I'll be able to breastfeed. It was out of the question last time because I needed radioactive iodine treatment (radiation basically in pill form) which would contaminate my milk. I went through that when my daughter was 3 months..had to stay away at my moms for 2 weeks and couldn't hold her for a month. I also needed to be dried up before doing it.
So my theory is that just about anything will be better than going through all that during my pregnancy and post partum period...
If you got through that, thanks for reading. If you have questions about anything I went through, I'm a pretty open book. Good luck to everyone here!!!
