I called my OBs office to schedule my first appointment and request blood work (2 pregnancies with low progesterone, one ended in mc, then treated with supps for DS's). The nurse scheduled me for blood work and wants to do betas as well. I'm scheduled for tomorrow and Friday, only the long weekend screwed me up and I thought I was scheduled for Tuesday/Thursday. I have a conference I'm supposed to attend on Friday, but if I don't do Wed/Fri, I have to wait until next week. I'm leaning towards skipping the conference, but feel guilty. What would you ladies do?
Also, when I asked about whether it's ok to continue BFing, the nurse asked how old DS is and got super judgey. She actually said, "He's under a year, so you don't have a choice." No question here, just a vent...

I think it all depends on how skip-able this conference is and how expensive registration was. Could you just be a little late or take a long lunch? A large all-day conference and nobody would notice you're gone an hour? Yep, I'd do it. A small half-day conference for which people expect you'd attend? I'd think twice.
What shadesofgold said. As long as commute isn't an issue, most conferences in my industry (it could be completely different in your industry) it's possible no one would bat an eye if you were to arrive late, take a longer lunch, or leave early.
If you're not in your usual locale, check and see if it's possible you can get the blood work done at a different lab closer to the conference location.
Thanks, ladies! Labs are done in-office only, and the conference is about 1.5 hours away, so I can't duck out.
The conference is free, at least, so I would not be losing any money by not going. It is something that would've been interesting for me to go, professionally, but nothing worth taking any chances over. I guess I just kind of want to hear that it's not crazy to get my conference for this? And I said I wouldn't get all crazy this pregnancy. Look at me now!

First, screw that nurse for judging you.
Second, if you're concerned about low progesterone I would skip the conference. I feel like it's better to be proactive than to try to fix it later. Maybe that's me being overly cautious, but I got my + at 9 DPO and started Heparin, upped my Thyroid medicine and progesterone all my 11DPO.

I'm sorry you're feeling stressed (totally understand the feeling). PPs all had good advice but just wanted to say hang in there and hopefully you can get the bloodwork done and still go to your conference!
yorkielove83 Thanks! That nurse really irked me! Thanks for your reassurance, too. And, in really glad you've got your meds set up!
mrssqueegy No, I haven't started supps yet. We'll see if the bloodwork shows I need them, but I'm kind of hoping my doctor prescribes them either way so I'm not stressed about a drop later on.
Thank you all for your input! I knew that I would be a wreck if I pushed off blood work, but I needed to hear other mamas would feel the same and I'm not a total lunatic. I'm going to skip the conference and go for my blood work tomorrow and Friday. Now, to figure out what to tell the boss about the time I'll be missing this week and the coming month!
