Work Vents And Shamelessly Up Your Post Count

Have I posted enough to graduate from being a Noob to be able to create a thread yet? If not, humor me anyways.

Work Vent: Someone keeps peeing on the TP in the ladies bathroom at work. WTF is wrong with people. I work in a small office building so there is only one other office that works on our floor. I work with all men so there's no way it's someone from my office. The other office is a medical office with a bunch of female nurses and I swear it's one of their nasty asses. You literally would have to lift one leg up to pee on the TP guys!




What is your work vent? Or just say hi and shamelessly up your post count!

Oh good, I was coming here to post a coworker vent.

So, I have been shanghaied into being a QA person for some software we're developing. I mostly don't mind as it is interesting work (although technically they should be paying me more), and I've slowly been figuring out how the stuff "under the hood" works since it helps in my test reporting to say "I did X, I expected Y - I can tell that step A happened, so the problem must be farther up the line" but I'm not a programmer, I cannot look at the code. So why the hell does one of the programmers keep coming to ME to explain to him how the damn application works? And where stuff is in the database? And what happens after step A? How should I know?

That's probably confusing....TL;DR coworker who makes twice as much money as I do would like me to teach him his job

I had the lovely job of telling a client yesterday that didn't have insurance that he had to pay the tax/penalty for not having insurance. I then got yelled/cussed out and all I could do was explain that it would be best if he accepted his insurance at work or private insurance. If this is how the tax season is going to go I'm going to be praying for April 15th to show up sooner than later. I hate getting yelled at especially when I didn't do anything wrong. Thanks a lot CONGRESS make everyone else be the bad guys!

alioop1028 - maybe your toilet is spitting out water when it flushes? We have one where I constantly thought people were peeing on the seat and later found out it was a really aggressive flush.

k3am I wish it was. It's only in one stall and it has a yellow-ish tint. Lol and not so lol at the same time. But the lighting in the bathroom also has a yellowish tint too so it could be that. I'll just run with your logic so I can look those nurses in the eye again.

My analyst has been "trying.." I got her transferred off all of my accounts, but then due to some reallocations, I picked up a new deal that she's assigned to. YAY!

We met today to go over a spreadsheet she prepared and has been working on for over a week. She's not sure where the numbers and/or calculations come from, why she included certain things in the calculations, and why it doesn't foot in multiple places. Oh yeah.. and "excel won't allow her" to line up the columns straight. LOVE WORKING WITH HER!

OMG that really sucks. There's nothing worse than an uninformed client that insists they're right or are owed something. Those twats can suck it.

I work with someone like this too. I have epic fantasies of him failing and getting fired. It helps my mental health.

A co-worker texted asking me to call her because of some happenings going on at work that she knows I'll want to hear about. Part of me is curious to know but more of me wants to eye roll. She called my teaching partner so much on her maternity leave that my teaching partner stopped answering the phone or returning phone calls. She made things into way bigger deals than they were and tends to get over excited about things that are not that big of a deal. With less than a week left of my maternity leave, I really thought I had managed to escape the crazy.

I of course texted a different co-worker and she says nothing has happened as far as she knows. I'm taking that my desire to eye roll is the right indication.

OH GOD I FORGOT THIS ONE..

We recently promoted a coworker to VP. She got 0 congratulations on the announcement email, mainly because no one thinks she deserves it. It's the most awesome when she opens her mouth and asks questions which just prove that she doesn't even know the basics that our analysts know. And she won't admit to being an idiot. I gave her one of my crappy deals to manage. The CFO keeps emailing me and saying "I don't think she gets it." I recently was copied on an email where he asked her a question, she gave the wrong answer, I went over and talked to her and told her what to do, she told me she doesn't think that's right. A few days later, she says, yes, it was indeed right. He calls me two weeks later to let me know she never followed up on it. I asked her about it and she just said.. "well, no one I asked knew how." AWESOME!

ETA: The position she got promoted to is the one I spent 2.5 years getting to. And she's been here for 4 months, without achieving even ONE of the milestone requirements to get there.

tas1883 Your post reminds me of my BIL. DH does his taxes and every year BIL gets upset because he owes money and should get a refund as far as he is concerned. BIL is 26, lives at home, has no deductions and never withholds enough.

Had to get a new visa machine. Came yesterday and we hooked it up. It took over our phone lines!!! I had 20 voicemails this morning when I finally was like something is wrong with the phones. Called the credit card rep and they came in a few minutes ago. She had to call tech support as the internal set up on the machine was to have complete control of the phone line. All fixed but jeez what a bad start to the week. FYI we only use the machine during tax season that is why it shares our phone line.

I don't understand how people get lucky like this! And who's stupid enough to think they can skirt by with zero knowledge.

I work in a special ed school and our computers never work. The network is constantly down. Doesn't help matters that the admin staff get the brand new computers, then the classrooms, then the related service providers(me) get the relics that someone dug out of the trash. Not really, but sometimes it feels that way.

@doodler I completely understand that feeling only in my building (private PK-8) It goes admin, junior high and then slowly work our way down.

I'm curious about how my sub has really been doing because the parents at the work event I went to on Saturday kept saying they couldn't wait for me to come back even parents I have had it out with. I've heard that 2 of my core subjects aren't her thing so there has been no effort into them and kids are struggling.

k3am that promotion thing would make me insane. It took me forever to get my officer promotion and meanwhile, they hired people into officer level who had NO CLUE or promoted people from other groups that made me seriously question my ability to assess intelligence. Nothing like a newly hired/promoted person asking a person below their level for help on things that are requirements for the promotion/level....just felt awesome.

I now have a vent. I have a project to do some really big things but I have zero authority to demand that people comply with a project plan. It's making me insane. I don't know how to ask senior mgmt to either clarify their goals or force their people to get on it. UGH.

GAH. I just explained an application concept 5! times to the same guy, and when a MALE project manager walked up, clueless jerk asked him and then finally believed that I was giving the right answer.

I'm boring today. All I can think of are the people typing while on conference calls. I also type while I am on the call, but I mute my phone. Maybe they just forget? I don't know. I also hate when people take calls in their office on speaker phone. Luckily, I pop in my ear phones and listen to music all day. Oh wait, I have one more. I can't stand the loud sighs. I understand our job can get frustrating, but sighing loudly like an asshole just disrupts everyone.

LOL @ the loud sighs. I had someone eating on a call once. It was so awkward.

Does anyone else have the co-worker who reads some of their emails out loud to themselves? I DO NOT CARE WHAT ANYONE HAS TO SAY TO YOU. I literally get close to 1,000 emails a day, I don't want to have to hear them being read as well. DAMN IT.

Yikes, I think I'd bring my own TP to the bathroom with me.My coworker over exaggerated the amount of screw ups a company we work with does, so I had to go through this company's past transactions for my supervisor. It took FOREVER. And the screw ups this company did weren't even that bad. ETA: stuck in the box and still learning this new board.
