What's something you're proud of yourself for doing?

A Tuesday morning GTKY....

What's something you've done lately that you're proud of yourself for? Big or small....feel free to #humblebrag!

I am training (again) for a marathon, and I have done really well at running through my long runs. It's SO easy to want to take walk breaks, but I have been really pushing it to keep running through my 16- and 18-milers.

Also, I picked back up with my reading over the summer. I am reading about 2 books a month now. I have just stopped altogether for some reason, but I'm glad I got back on track with it.

I have so far committed to, and stuck to, no spend September. Which means I browsed on Amazon and said no thank you to buying stuff I dont need right now.

I did 3 miles of intervals on the treadmill yesterday and then spent 2 hours cleaning the yard, trimming the bushes, and working outside. I really wanted to take a nap and eat the rest of my Brookside chocolates.

Giving up the scale. I was so obsessed with that number, I was unhappy ALL. THE. TIME. I haven't weighed myself in probably a month and it feels good!

I struggled a bit with being obsessive about my weight in college, and then once I stopped I gained about 20 lbs. I was afraid to try too hard to lose it because I worried about getting obsessive about my weight again.

However, over the past 9 or 10 months, I have finally lost that weight and a little more. I'm proud because I did it in a very slow and very healthy way, and I've been able to not obsess and still enjoy all the things I like to do. It feels good to finally be at a weight I'm comfortable with and to feel much healthier.

I'm proud the cake I made for H turned out so well. Also my cooking abilities. H said he didn't know what we would do if I didn't cook. He loves my cooking.

That is a good idea. I really need to get better about spending!! But then I see shoes....

What marathon? Also does your screen name mean you did an Ironman? If so which one? I did Ironman Canada in 2011.

I am proud of myself for continuing to train for half and full marathons through grad school. I have am amazingly supportive husband and a three year old who loves the stroller. I never thought of myself as some one who could get a masters degree. But here I am now in my second to last semester.

I'm proud of myself for starting and sticking with fitness classes. I took two classes yesterday! I have only lost about 5 pounds so far in the last month but I feel proud that I'm getting up and doing something.

Yep, I did IM Louisville in 2013. SO glad there is another Ironman on here! How was Canada? Louisville was SO hot, but I loved every single minute of it.

I played a pretty significant role (along with an amazing team of colleagues) in founding an elementary school that opened last month. It's in one of the poorest neighborhoods in my city, so I feel proud when I see the amazing opportunities being presented to our kiddos through a great education.

It was the old Canada course in Penticton, BC.  It was awesome.  But, hot.  They ran out of water on the bike portion so my run really suffered.  I have heard the swim in Louisville is really nice.  I would love to get another one under my belt.  But, the time to train is so consuming! 

Good luck with MCM and Savannah.  I have heard those are great.

I'm proud of myself for cleaning out my closet and dresser. I donated a large amount of clothes that I was just hanging on to, despite not wearing for over a year or two. It felt good to regain some organization and space in my life.

I'm studying for my CMA certification. It has a 40% pass rate. I'm nervous to take it and have thought about giving up but I'm going to do it.

I also just signed up for a 50k bike ride. I learned how to ride 3 years ago.

I'm proud of myself for letting myself have the relaxation time I want after work. I used to be really anxious (and still am sometimes) about getting chores done and being productive between 4-7pm. Now, I let myself be productive in other ways working on crafts and gifts for people. Knitting and cross stitching is really relaxing for me and I've started to let myself do it more. It's not like I wasn't doing it later in the evening while watching tv after dinner or something, but now if I want to craft straight through the evening and forget about cleaning, I do!

I am proud of myself for adopting an attitude towards my gym time that is less selfish and works better for my family. I used to be very territorial over "my" time to work out, with very little give. Since coming back to work from maternity leave, I've been much more thoughtful about how my time at the gym in the evenings affects our family's routine.

So I switched gyms (which was a REALLY big deal for me) to cut out some driving time, and have come to accept fewer weeknight workouts, and just bust my tail a little harder while I'm there.

That's a really good idea! When I get home from work I usually feel so much pressure to clean, do laundry, etc. and feel like I should be doing something all the time. But really, who cares if the vacuuming waits a day?

Thanks! It is an adaptation of the Legend of Sleepy Hollow.  Perfect for Halloween  I am one of the women in the town, who believes in ghosts and tells ghost stories.  It is a pretty fun part, but not too many lines that I feel overwhelmed!

I took things into my own hands this week and set up a meeting with my principal to voice concerns about the job position I'm in. I'm normally not one to complain about my job but I just had to voice my concerns. The meeting went well! We're making changes at many different levels to improve the situation so we have a better school year than last year. If I have to be stuck in this position then I might as well do everything possible to make it work.

I'm proud of myself for getting more involved in my neighborhood community (we live in a big neighborhood that is kind of isolated out in the country). I'm heading up dances at our clubhouse during the school year for middle-schoolers. Apparently they love Mt. Dew, so I am expecting them to be wired. LOL.

Making new friends as an adult suuuucks, so I figured this would be a less awkward way of doing it.
