Dear diary entry...I started a new job in September with a Canadian company that was in the process of setting up a US subsidiary. Get an e-mail from my boss on 10/28 saying hey, we got our health insurance all squared away, yea! Got the cards the same day in the mail, so I gleefully called and ended my Cobra coverage from my old job.

On 10/31 at 10:45 pm, I went to the ER due to severe pain (turns out I had gallstones). Was discharged on 11/1 at 5:00 am. Got a bill today for $9,000 that was rejected by my insurance. Why, you ask? Because my insurance coverage didn't begin until 11/1 and all the paperwork from the hospital was submitted by my admittance date of 10/31. I somehow missed the bullet point in my boss' e-mail that listed the official start date. I'm so, so, so fucking pissed at myself. I opened an appeal with the insurance company and am praying that they'll show me mercy for an hour and 15 minute difference.

I am allergic to two large groups of antibiotics: anything that ends in -icillin or -mycin. That usually causes the problems. BUT we tried something a bit out of the box instead of sulfa drugs to finally shake the pneumonia (second round of antibiotics in a month), and turns out, YUP. Allergic. 

I am rashy and itchy and kinda grumpy (especially because I am all rashy and it is gross), but thank goodness I am not swelling. The dose of Benedryl should help and I have more if I need it. 

I am going to be hilarious trying to teach Hamlet on allergy meds tomorrow.

My neighbors where I lived with my parents had a 20,000 square foot house. I can't even fathom. They did have like 7 kids, so they needed at least that much. My doctor was another neighbor with a 9,000 square foot house and a bowling alley. Practical.


Our house was 3,500 sq ft. They probably felt so claustrophobic when they came over.

I don't think I'd ever want to live in anything bigger than like 4,000 sq ft though. Because too many hiding places for intruders.

Working in real estate, growing up with a builder parent, I typically roll my eyes at giant houses. No one needs a solarium, sun room and a screened porch room. I have seen every giant, ridiculous house. But this girl's house is not even ridiculous, its 4 bedrooms, 3.5 baths, no weird made-up rooms, downstairs is a kitchen, living room, dining room, family room and office. Nothing obscure. All the rooms are just spacious and new. Plus she's younger than me. I am happy for her. I am happy for her. I am happy for her.

I would. Not a lot bigger. But bigger. I want to build our "forever home". And I want 5 bedrooms. And maybe a guest room in the basement. I just don't want stupid rooms. I want to use every room we have.

We have a family friend who is a designer. She took a foreclosure and turned it into a dream home. It's not a huge home, but it is now gorgeous.

I hope to have that one day. Every detail in the home is so perfect but it's also so functional and welcoming. The perfect combo.
