Rough early morning. Liam woke up around 3am and did not want to go back to sleep. I managed to sleep in 15-20 minute increments. His reflux seems to be better managed now, in that he's not screaming in pain while feeding. He'll let me nurse him until he falls asleep now. Since it's been a couple of days since starting the Zantac, I weighed Liam to make sure he was starting to gain weight. He lost more! Little guy is 5 weeks old today and weighs less than when he was born. I can't handle this. I gave him 2 oz of formula after nursing him earlier. I don't understand what is happening, he seemed to eat plenty while he was nursing. It doesn't matter. I can't keep doing this us. Liam is starving and I'm going crazy. The ped wanted to wait until his next weight check on Monday to discuss formula, but I'm starting him on it now, at least as a supplement to his regular feedings.

I also did a phone interview for a potential nanny/sitter for Liam. She lives in the neighborhood and sounds like an ideal candidate (stay at home mom with an 8 year old girl). The only potential problem is that she is also 5 months pregnant, which is fine for now. But I doubt she'll want to watch kiddo when she has her own cranky newborn on her hands. But that's still a ways off. We meet in person tomorrow, and if all goes well, we'll do a trial run on Friday when I have to run into the city for a work appointment. I really hope this works out because this will take a huge stressor of my shoulders.

This afternoon, I need to drive 40 miles to the DMV so I can get my license switched over. Liam is coming with me, and I'm nervous about being stuck in the DMV with a newborn.

Hang in there! For what it's worth, I would have done the same thing (I am FF along with BM). Baby needs to eat! Doesn't mean you can't still work on BF, but it's important that baby gets enough food one way or another.

Mine has been dead for months! I keep telling myself I'll charge it when we get back home.

In general I love wearing my Fitbit and trying to get more steps in, but the damn thing was counting steps of I was rocking Thea or it counts an excessive number when I stand and bounce her. I was getting annoyed so I stopped wearing it, but I feel like my steps/exercise don't count without it on!

Yeah it does the same with me. The way I'm thinking of it is those extra steps it gives me makes up for the fact that I'm breastfeeding, and it has no way to calculate those calories. Also, bouncing is still moving and exercising!

With dd1 I tried to ebf and basically starved her. She lost over 11% of her birth weight. After many consults with a lc, tons of tears, and many discussions with my hubs we decided to stop bf and to switch to formula, due to not producing. This was all in 10 days but felt much longer. I had so much guilt about starving her and not bf'ing. After a few weeks I realized that I did nothing wrong by ff'ing. I was feeding my baby girl who was healthy and thriving. In the end you have to do what's best for baby and you. If you have to supplement or stop bf all together, just know you did it for however long you did and baby got the antibodies that they needed.

Hang in there and remember this is a hard time but it does get easier!!

mine was counting potholes, while driving bus, during winter i got 20,000 a day
